Feds approve congestion pricing tax

 AMNY

Federal regulators have given final approval to New York City’s congestion pricing program, setting up the long-awaited implementation of tolling on vehicles entering Manhattan’s central business district to reduce congestion and fund the region’s mass transit.

A spokesperson for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) confirmed to amNewYork Metro that it had issued a “Finding of No Significant Impact,” or FONSI, for congestion pricing. That means the feds are satisfied that the program will not cause adverse environmental impacts on the region, and the MTA can officially move forward with its plan to toll motor vehicles up to $23 for entering Manhattan below 60th Street.

“Congestion pricing will reduce traffic in our crowded downtown, improve air quality and provide critical resources to the MTA,” Hochul said in a statement. “I am proud of the thorough environmental assessment process we conducted, including responding to thousands of comments from community members from across the region. With the green light from the federal government, we look forward to moving ahead with the implementation of this program.”

The MTA declined to comment.

I like to make a few:

Richard Ravitch saved the subway without congestion pricing, and he sure didn't lobby for it like a cuck like our agency captured elected officials have been doing for the last few years.

Also, the guy in charge of the U.S. Department of Transportation Alternatives is a sociopathic replicant.

This is part of the Green New Deal!
It will slow down the NYC economy and will likely require a lots of overhaul.

Here’s an idea: Vote in Republicans only.

It's gonna cost you $23 bucks to enter Manhattan below 60th Street.
I'd pay double that to leave Manhattan.

It's about time to re-think the Mailer/Breslin idea of making NYC the 51st state.
One change, the outer boroughs should become a separate city not state.
Screw the Manhattanites and their anti-Borough attitude.

How could Trump do this?

Ah, another shining example of the party of tax and spend.

I feel so sad for the overprivileged car totalitarians.
The tyranny of it all. Having to pay for polluting the air, clogging up our streets, killing pedestrians and cyclists. After all these years, getting this for nothing.
How sad. Poor little snowflakes. Boo hoo!

Next up. Ending free car storage. Getting oversized non-commercial pickups and tank sized SUV's off city streets and back to the "Burbs" where they belong.

Why do democrats in NYC keep voting democrat?

It’s good to see there’s still some pushback against this insanity from N.J. !

Sad, very sad to watch!

Wanna bet that the City Council and other politicians will exempt themselves from paying the congestion pricing rip-off?
They'll claim that they are on city business.
Hmmm, they get paid very well for doing this job.
Let them cough up the dough or take mass transit like the rest of us.
Their rules, they should live by them.

Happy days are coming to Manhattan.

Most New Yorkers will keep electing Democrats who will spend every waking moment trying to make their lives more miserable and inconvenient.

I've taken a smart approach. I never go to NYC for anything.

Stop being pathetic losers, go to the hearings and shape the specifics.

Consider putting QR codes on little slips of paper and dropping them from drones on crowds. That will really frustrate the censors. Actually you can drop them from inside your pants legs and the millennials will scan them right off the street without picking them up. Or printing slogans and memes on copier labels and putting them on vending machines and eye level at doors entries. Also in the 1970s CB radios blasted into your sounds system even if it was unplugged. Bet these millennial devices have lousy chinese shielding you can broadcast into? Then tell them their momma or the purse dog pleasuring their privates is a space alien and they believe!

We are all very happy to hear that. Stay in the great swamp of whatever red state you say you are living in.

Yes, N.J is really a very insane place. Just a big mess of chemical factories, convoluted highways, swamps, gas stations, strip malls, chemical spills with very few nice things in between.

@“ CNN will be trying hard to figure out how to blame it on Orange man.”

They don’t need to try hard. TrumpTurd delayed this. He didn’t do anything for infrastructure, except for his paper wall.
The sooner this is implemented, the better for the city.

@“ Why do democrats in NYC keep voting democrat?”

They’ve got no choice. The Republican fascist party is only for the rich, corporations, religious freaks and pure stupidity. Not saying that the democrats don’t grab corporate handouts too, just not as bad as the fascists.

Nothing but typical #TDS BS from the usual Marxist trolls.
Trump was not perfect. People hated him because he called them out, spoke the truth and protected America without lining his pockets. The Fake News media actively slandered him on an hourly basis and y’all believed the lies. He was in the public eye before he became a republican candidate, and everyone loved him. If he ran as a democrat, he’d be revered.

What are some disadvantages of tyranny?
Loss of Freedom. And you become a slave to the state.
Amazingly some Sheeple here have no problem with that.

It will just make traffic redirect itself. If you really wanted to get into Manhattan, you don't have to go through midtown, they will just go down through Brooklyn and go uptown. It will just cause more traffic in those other areas. So you are probably just creating more traffic.

Some in the MTA will get richer. It’s not the bus drivers, train operators, motormen. It’s those who already make a hefty salary while the little people have to adjust their ever shrinking budget to just get to work. Many drive in because it’s just not safe to get on a train now a days. Either you are a witness to a crime or the victim.
