Chirlane McCray's mental health program is a billion dollar flop

The $560 million in taxpayer money spent on First Lady Chirlane McCray’s ThriveNYC program hasn’t adequately addressed the need for mental-health services in the city — which actually “worsened” over the past year, The Post has learned.

The bombshell finding by the city Health Department was revealed in a draft report that was reviewed last week during a meeting of the department’s advisory Community Service Board.

“We are seeing consistently high demand for high needs services including rates of suicide,” the report says.

“We need to engage in a process with state partners to expand our portfolio of services and better address the needs of New Yorkers.”

Despite McCray’s claims of transparency regarding her embattled mental-health program, City Hall refused to release a copy of the Health Department report.

But a source provided The Post with details, including the report’s conclusion that during the past year, “Mental health service needs have worsened, as have substance use disorder needs, and developmentally disabled needs.”

The report blames the situation for a long-term increase in emergency room visits by mentally ill people who face “barriers to appropriate and relevant community care.”

ThriveNYC has spent $2 million on a program called NYC Safe, which is supposed to pair cops with health-care workers to help steer homeless and mentally ill people into treatment so they don’t wind up in the hospital.

But the program has only aided 1,000 people over the past 2¹/₂ years, according to figures released in March.

She gets paid though, right? How about the daughter? How much is she on the payroll for? Just like Chelsea Clinton got paid from her crook parents foundation. My (and your) taxes folks.
That's why Trump will win again. People hear about how he paid no taxes, and say good for him!

Appropriate community care means setting up "supported housing" - i.e. large concentrations of people being served by a sinalgle organization, which makes $$$ billing for support services, housing, and anything else they can come up with. These concentrations stress the social fabric of the community, and do a disservice to the so-called residents (does Willowbrook ring any alarm bells?)

I always liked what the Milton Friedman school of economics stated which was do not judge any program by it's intentions but by it's outcomes. Of course they have failed on their stated intentions but very successful with unstated ones which is pissing lots of money away. Socialism is a great thing until you run out of someone else's money.

The are generally told not to take in-patients and leave them at home as outpatients, where the sociological srtessors that induced their illness abound.

Nu, which is it?

And if both leaving them at home and institutionalizing them is bad, what's the solution?

Alas, the entire de BLASS-hole (family scourge-kleptocracy), is an openly practicing criminal enterprise for which everyone else (in this UNACCOUNTABLE city of public service frauds), continually pays the ULTIMATE, soul-crushing price——and, the ever languishing public be damned. What? WHAT?? THIS IS NEW???

WORSE, given all of the daily plastered front headlines in the 'de BLASS-hole' New York Daily News, he SHOULD HAVE ALREADY been IMPEACHED, indicted, prosecuted and incarcerated in federal lockup for the long term——and, his crooked, non-publicly elected wife right alongside of this voracious, predatory and rapacious thief of epic, government fail! But, given that his nemesis, 'Gargoyle Andy' Cuomo, will never see the inside of a prison cell (while ironically everyone ELSE connected to this Albany sewer rat is either already in the can, or soon to be headed there), it's not likely that this 'Tall & Stupid' embarrassment to primates will be headed there, either——despite how everyone else is likewise on their way there themselves, all of whom were affiliated with his pay-to-play scandals, of which there are WAAAAY too many to count.

Tragically (and predictably), this is why society is collapsing from the top on down, and why there is now openly practicing anarchy in the streets, when lawlessness and contempt reign supreme throughout the stilted corridors of never-ending City Hall and Albany corruption, graft and greed.

@Anon re: wife

The first lady is a government position and she does have an office, it's on the city website. The Blaz and her avoid the ol' conflicts of interest thingie because she feigns to be a volunteer.
