Change of heart at LIC diner

From LIC Post:

The former location of the M Wells diner and the adjacent sports bar is for sale.

The owner, who was about to open a new diner/sports bar at the site, decided recently that he didn’t want to go into the restaurant business. Therefore, he is has elected to sell or rent the 21-01 49th Ave. property, according to Jermain Miller, a real estate agent with Douglas Elliman, who is working on the deal.

The sports bar has been completely refurbished and has a liquor license. The sports bar is approx. 1800sf sports bar and could open next week.

So, the owner went through the headache of obtaining a liquor license, spent goodness knows how much on renovations, but at the last minute realized that the food business just wasn't for him? Does this story sound just a little bit fishy?

Maybe Jimmy Van Bramer can give another million for a certain arts group to buy it too.

This was the former "Blue Sky Diner" -more recently M Wells.

Unless serious structural work has been done to repair/recover the north wall and electrical system, the place is doomed.

M. Wells was the only success this hapless location had since the 1970s when most of the manufacturing left the area.

Landlord greed demanded a huge increase to $35,000/mo and killed it. I know who the actual owner is.

I like this old 1954 diner, but it will have a bad end.

It should be obvious: someone ran out of access to other people's money.
