From Queens Courier:
The investigation of an illegal cigarette trafficking operation led to the arrest of a Flushing family that was allegedly running an illegal hotel out of the home next door.
During the investigation of allegations of illegal cigarettes being sold out of a Saull Street residence, detectives noticed unusual activity going on at the two-family house next door, according to District Attorney Richard Brown. Multiple people were observed leaving the home with suitcases, and after further investigation, officials discovered that the residence was being advertised as a hotel on Chinese language websites.
Following a year-long investigation, a search warrant was executed on the home Thursday and Qiumin He, 55, his wife, Chun Y Tu, 56, and their son, Xiaoshan He, 34, who all live at the home, were arrested. They are currently awaiting arraignment and have been charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, according to Brown. Xiaoshan has also been charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration for allegedly interfering with the arrests. They face up to one year in jail if convicted.
During yesterday’s search of the alleged illegal hotel, Department of Buildings inspectors were present as well as inspectors assigned to the New York City Fire Department, who found “numerous egregious violations, including insufficient egress and lack of required sprinkler systems and fire alarms and no exit signs,” said Brown. DOB inspectors had tried to enter the home several times over the last year, but weren’t allowed inside.

Must be the tip of the iceberg . Time to clean out Flushing. And get rid of all politicians who caused this mess .
Is the illegal hotel at 164th and 29th Ave (the house next to the charming wine shop)? Asians with suitcases come and go at this address every night!
Brown must be running again! Mr. DA how about the whore house on 164th St. between Crocheron and Depot road that fronts as a barber shop, been there for years, all the locals know about it. NYPD wont touch it. Hmmm! Next close the Community Boards and office of Queens BP!
I went to 164th and 29th avenue in Google Earth and saw no charming wine shop, but there is a huge, beautiful Tudor house right there on the corner of 29th Ave. and 165th. Probably not the illegal hotel, though, way too classy.
Flushing.....why am I not surprised? We have soooooo much garbage living in Queens, it seems like the garbage doesn't stop coming over. Those people in Flushing who own most of those stores and houses are nothing but a bunch of white-collared criminals! I mean, how do you have up signs all over the place and none of them are written in English? Sounds quite suspicious to me! Those people in Flushing seem to get away with murder and nothing is ever done about it! So I am glad to hear this story!
This is what they are probably doing in Bayside here when they build these huge Mcmansions, which if you ask me, should not have permission to build these since the neighborhoods that they are building them in, is a one-2 family house only zoning law!! These mcmansions popping up in bayside mostly all the time are built on corner properties and house more than 2 families in these houses!! What they do is break up the houses until you have 4 different apartments in the house!! I hate these Mcmansions, they look so tacky and should be inspected!!

There is a lovely wine and spirits shop 2 doors down from Marino's (there's a dry cleaners between them).
You were looking at the wrong house - this one is on the north west corner - right next to the wine shop. Next to it is a lovely Tudor rented by non-immigrants who have actually improved the property!!!!!! Sorry to sound racist but the Asian renters on either side of them don't do shit!
The shitty hotel has ripped indoor/outdoor carpeting in the yard and a bench out front - that's the smoking lounge for the clients.
The owner of the house on the corner of 164th Street and 29th Avenue is the owner of Marino's Supermarket, Peter Marino. He apparently bought that corner house and the one next to it to " save the neighborhood" from another Asian church that he was almost certain would be built on the corner lot when the house went up for sale.
The address of the house on the north west corner near Mario Brothers is
27-42 164th St Flushing, NY 11358.
Home Vale
Zestimate: $726,033
Rent Zestimate: $1,917/mo
Checked again and cannot see a WINE SHOP next to Marino's, but
I do see the dry cleaners.
I see the Marino's and the dry cleaners but no "charming wine shop".
The house at 42-03 Saull St. has more than 20 complaints since 2008 for being converted as an illegal hotel. But the DOB did not do anything until now the DA told them to shut down the place.
If you are using Google street view the wine shop won't show because it opened after the video was taken.
The wine shop is there. I was in it yesterday. It's a rental. Marino's owns the whole corner.
Yes, I figured maybe Google Earth was outdated in Street view. Would like to visit that shop but I live in DE (and work in the wine business). Just crossing the bridges to get me from Jersey to Queens cost about, what, $30 or so now?
Why are you guys so caught up on the wine shop location. Gotta problem!
This has got to be the third story on Little Richard in a month! He must be campaigning again.
