If Councilman Jimmy is so interested in art... why hasn't he "come out" in support of 5 Pointz, instead of sending observers to CB2 meetings, and sitting on the fence?
RU reading this Jimmy? Wake up. There are other issues out there besides "gay rights".
First off, the hideous lime green color was privately funded. No tax payer money was used. There are repercussions taking place, unfortunately its the parks workers paying them. The lime green was painted without their knowledge or without the parks department approval. In defense of the parks people, they cant be there 24/7. All this work took place when they weren't there.
You mean to tell us that anyone can walk into any park and paint the crap out of it without the Parks department knowing about it? And the cops go by in their patrol cars and look and say "that's nice"?
It was painted by a well-intentioned neighborhood man who donated his time and his own money in order to beautify the neighborhood for all to enjoy. No need to insult the man. Maybe he's colorblind? Parks gave the "green" light to the community members to choose the color and do the work, no foul play here. Perhaps going forward Parks will do it themselves.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt

GTA - great work.
But have to wonder how much it cost?
Will there be any repercussions for the people that screwed up in the first place?
My impression is that government people can get away with almost anything.
Fire the person who gave the approval for this botched job!,
For the record
This was done by the local talent - and Jimmy Van Bramer showed up to thank them.
Queens has an Alice-in-Wonderland quality to it.
I actually preferred the green.
F'n morons who allowed the green color. Classless! Another waste of time and money by the Parks Dept.
I think the paint job has to do with the green initiative that a lot of places are doing. Money being used incorrectly and not for the original cause.
LOL!
Yeh...Jimmy Van Brainless..the gay god of Queens!
Now if this were an Irish nabe, I could see the "wearin' of the green".
Barf! There goes my pint of Guiness all over my shoes.

Yes George, that is exactly what happened in doughboy park. The truth really is stranger than fiction.
How much of a secret was it if JVB was using it as a photo op?
Queer eye for the strait guy?
Jimmy Van B, looks at the lime green paint and doesn't barf immediately?
Van Bramer. Hand in your homo creds.
