Will you believe them or your own lying eyes?

If you want to see everything that is wrong with community boards in this city, read this piece in the Queens Chronicle. We all know that Joe Moretti has very publicly sent photos and complaints regarding this underpass to CB6 yet they claim that they have received no complaints.

From The Filth of Forest Hills:

In the above article:

“When contacted, Community Board 6 District Manager Frank Gulluscio said the board has not received any complaints about the underpass. The same was true for CB 9, according to a representative.”

BUT THAT is completely false, “The Filth of Forest Hills” blog has been reporting on this situation with photos since March of 2018 and sending the posts to the not only the local community boards, but Councilmember Karen Koslowitz, Queens BP Melinda Katz and her staff, Senator Andrews Hevesi and DOS. In fact here is a response from community board 6 back in March. SO HOW can they say there have never been any complaints, when they have received SEVERAL from THE FILTH OF FOREST HILLS, plus post have been place in the Forest Hills Post as well.

Questions or Comments: The Austin Street pedestrian underpass is filled with litter and dumped garbage, not to mention all the graffiti. Some fo the garbage like the photo of the bagged Christmas tree has been there for months. SO WHAT IS this board and the local hack elected officials are doing about this. AND why isn’t there more outrage from Forest Hills/Kew Garden residents about this. Keep being complacent, a homeless shelter hotel at the Comfort Inn housing single men has already causing issues and trash/litter, loitering and panhandling is already noticeable. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, to turn Forest Hills/Kew Gardens in the next ghetto like Jamaica Queens. https://thefilthofforesthillsqueens.wordpress.com/2018/03/11/the-filth-of-forest-hills-kew-garden-journey-continues-garbage-graffiti-mars-austin-street-underpass-kew-gardens-rodney-dangerfield-still-gets-no-respect-in-death/

Read below for more of the decline of Forest Hills.
AND in the meantime, the Austin Street Pedestrian Underpass Walkway is still a disgrace of grafitti, garbage and flooding that make it difficult to go up and down the stairs since the drain is clogged. The condition has been like this since December 2017. AND none of that garbage on those cement barriers on Queens Blvd have yet to be cleaned up and more garbage has been added.
Good job folks, wish I had a job where I did not have to do anything or be held accountable and bring home a nice hefty paycheck.
SHAME on you community boards. Why lie about this when you have recieved numerous complaints about this situation since March from this blog and even responded a couple of times to the complaints. AND where is Karen Koslowitz and Melinda Katz, each who have also received numerous complaints from this blog on this situation.

What exactly do these people do all day?

Auto body shops are trashing Merrick Blvd

"A drive along Merrick Boulevard from Jamaica Avenue all the way to the Long Island Border on Friday, September 9th around 6pm showed a complete lack of enforcement when it comes to illegal parking of cars (smashed & unlicensed) by auto body shops on streets and blocking sidewalks and illegal parking of huge tractor trailers. I counted at least 100 cars in various condition and about 20 large tractor trailer trucks parked on Merrick Blvd. This has been an issue that neither NYPD is properly addressing nor community board 12 and the local elected officials of that area (Senator Comrie, Councilman Miller, Congressman Meeks, Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman), ALL, who are aware of this blatant illegal activity that has turned Merrick Blvd into the new Willet's Point, except Willets's Point did not have people living right in the middle of it. The area between Archer Ave and 110th are the worst but that entire stretch of Merrick is completely awful.

I have heard with some of the local debates how the community has not been represented properly for decades by the Jamaica elected officials and this is a perfect example and even those running against incumbents (Vanel, Adams) HAVE NOT brought up the issue of these types of quality of life issues that are an eyesore in the community and make it look like shit, besides the fact that these issues are totally illegal. I have been in this community for almost 6 years and have seen this issue go from bad to worse, yesterday being some of the worst I have seen, since I have not been on that stretch for some time.

Ms. Katz, Jamaica is in Queens and you are always talking so highly (and untruthfully) about Jamaica, yet you nor any of the local elected officials, community board 12 and so-called activist like Adrienne Adams and some of the other so-called activist in this community (well, that is what they call themselves) have yet to put pressure on this issue or the many other blatant ones (take a look at the huge illegal garbage dumping going on right next to the C-Town market that sits off of Merrick by the Auto Zone) that go unaddressed that you certainly would not see in Katz's neighborhood of Forest Hills.

As usual this shows a complete lack of respect to a predominately black community by elected officials such as Katz, Comrie, Miller, Hyndman, community board 12, Rev. Flake and his crew, the so-called "church leaders" and these so-called activist they say they are activist.

But yet myself and Pamela Hazel have been the only ones to continually document, report, file complaints and bring up these same issues over and over again with pretty much zero results from the powers that be and those that should uphold the laws.

What I saw on Merrick Boulevard on Friday September 9th was utterly appalling and no community should have to tolerate this and all the other quality of life issues not being addressed in the Jamaica community.

There are no need for photos (which I have taken of this area for years on this issue), since ALL of YOU are completely aware of this but instead have chosen inaction. But to refresh your memory:
And when residents in this community do not stand up for what is right, as the people in Maspeth did when a Holiday Inn was to be turned into yet another dump homeless shelter then you all get the community you deserve, but elected officials are to be the voice of the community and show leadership skills and none of you have shown that including many of the new candidates running for office. AND by that way, it is not that difficult to solve this simple problem that is going on Merrick Blvd, the problem is inactivity by elected officials and properer enforcement of laws on the books. And having a news reporter come on to do some quickie story in the paper or a 1 minute segment on TV does NOTHING if there is not constant follow-up on this issue by the powers that be. The media SHOULD be doing hard reporting on WHY this issue has been going on for so long, why the laws are NOT being enforced and why there is little response from elected officials. You are all to blame for the conditions in Jamaica along with many of the residents and businesses that show complete lack of respect or any pride in this community, but bottom line, LEADERSHIP is needed, GOOD LEADERSHIP, which to this date has been very rare for the most part, with the exception of Senator Tony Avella, but this matter does not fall in his district, that is YOU, Leroy Comrie, YOU, I. Daneek Miller, YOU, Alicia Hyndman and YOU BIG CHEESE, Melinda Katz. Just more TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

NONE of this would be tolerated in a predominately white area and you all know this.

Now I am sure I will not hear from any of the powers that be since Pamela Hazel and myself know that this is the standard status quo response, which is NOTHING even though the elected officials work for US and we pay your over-bloated salaries for what amounts to part-time jobs of having photos taken for street naming ceremonies or other non-essential issues in the community which gives the illusion that you care and do actually work, just not on major issues that need addressed on the local level."

Junked cars litter Jamaica street

From PIX11:

Crashed cars with no license plates are taking over the streets and sidewalks of a Queens community where residents reached out to PIX11 News for help cleaning up their neighborhood.

It’s hard enough for residents to find parking spots along 147th Place in Jamaica, Queens, and now they’re battling for space with busted cars making the streets and sidewalks look like a junkyard.

When PIX11 News arrived at the scene Wednesday, we spotted 11 plate-less cars parked on the city street and sidewalk. Many were dented; one was missing a front fender.

We were tipped off by Joe Moretti, a community watchdog who chronicles his neighborhood in the blog Cleanup Jamaica Queens Now.

I couldn't have said it better myself

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

So the rag Queens Tribune names Queens Borough President hack, Melinda Katz as 2015 person of the year because according to this rag, she is a true advocate and voice for the people in the borough.

Mind blogging how a Queens newspaper can name this hack in a long line of hack Queens Borough Presidents. I guess really not mind blogging considering that the majority of Queens papers are pretty much just puppets of the elected officials and really do not dig deep enough and expose the real truth of what is really going on in Queens and with the many useless and crooked elected leaders that are not held accountable. This list of accomplishments that this rag mentioned are really not accomplishments at all. She was forced to do something in regards to the bullshit at the Queens Library, something she knew had been going for some time. After The Daily News broke the story, she was backed into a corner to do something, otherwise nothing would have happened. A fresh coat of painting on the falling apart New York State Pavilion (that her predecessors allowed to deteriorate for decades) is NOT an accomplishment.

And as a resident of Jamaica and seeing the awful conditions of Jamaica on a daily basis and her office ignoring both my hundreds of complaints as well as community activist Pamela Hazel’s complaints, her bullshit comprehensive plan for the future of Jamaica is as worthless as the paper is was printed on, especially considering that in less than an hour before 2016 began, yet another person in Jamaica was shot and killed, this time a 16 year old from Rosedale, who was shot in the head at Merrick Blvd and 109th, a notorious area for crime. Let’s see how great this comprehensive plan is for Jamaica is in 2016, hell even 2017 for that matter. I have a feeling it is going to be the same old shit and IF, and that is a big IF, Jamaica does eventually turn around, it will have little to do with people like her, Leroy Comrie or any of the other useless fuck leaders in this community. Let’s face it, it is these same leaders, past and present who stood by and allowed a community to deteriorate for decades (probably in hopes that real estate developers would swoop in and buy property and land for dirt cheap at the expense of the people in the community). Same thing that happened after Katrina in New Orleans, same thing that happened in Detroit. Blatant destruction of cities under the watchful eyes of government, big banks, big real estate developers and crooked politicians.

The article ends with “In pushing for a change in state law allowing her to remove and reappoint trustees of the Queens Library, and by changing membership at several community boards, Katz has proven the borough president is anything but “useless.”

So by Katz having the power to appoint who she wants or to remove who she wants on boards proves that she is anything but “useless”…………………………..Yep, that proves she is not useless, but just another crooked politician to control the government process to do whatever the hell she wants as opposed to government of the people, by the people, for the people.

So fuck the whore rag Queens Tribune and their person of the year, another in a long line of hack whore politicians that talk a big talk, but in reality that do shit to help improve the quality of life for the people in the borough. Don’t believe it, just talk to your average Queens resident.

(And in other Queens BP hack news, Katz has appointed yet another lifer to oversee community boards.)

DOB determines that 16-unit building is a 2-family house

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

With so many incompetent and corrupt NYC agencies, none deserves to be at the top of the list than the Department of Buildings, just because when they are incompetent or taking bribes, loss of life can happen. Back in February, 50 people were arrested in the DOB on bribery schemes.

Just to prove their incompetency, I recently filed a complaint with DOB in regards to an apartment building (16 units) at 89-28 170th Street going up on my block and doing illegal work on a Saturday without a variance permit. This happened before but of course when I filed that complaint, DOB eventually went out on a Saturday, saw no work being done and closed the case (how about going out when the damn complaint is filed). Well with the recent complaint (10.17.15), I took photos, described what was going on and here was the status from DOB (no variance permit required for 1-2 family dwelling):
Now does this look even remotely like a fucking 1-2 family house? From the above overview, it seems the lazy inspector did not even bother to go out, but just looked at their own site and saw that 1-2 family house classification from Department of Finance (which was never updated) even though that 1-2 family house had been torn down over 10 years ago.

The loophole here is that this lot has been subdivided and the 16 units are considered individually as eight 2-family homes, not a 16 unit apartment building, by the DOB. Why it's ok to work on a 2-family house without a variance permit, is a good question.

More Jamaica issues to add to the pile

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

Yeah, we just got the Queens International Night Market on Saturdays thru October and we have some development happening and in the works, so the future for Jamaica is 50-50 maybe, but the present is one big heap of garbage shit.

Coming back from a bike ride in nice, clean, civilized Long Beach, I encountered all this shit from the LIRR Sutphin Station and it AIN'T PRETTY.

Trucks, trucks and more trucks

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

Yep, you get tired of reading this and I get tired of writing this, but you know what I get tired of most, listening to this bullshit, because it is still going on 24/7, Monday through Sunday, at all hours, mornings, of course, being the worst. Plus the bullshit of doing little to take care of this from the powers to be.

But none of you elected officials, people from Queens Borough Hall, Department of Transportation have to deal with this on your residential streets and I am sure if you did, it would stop immediately. I mean I have been documenting this for almost a year now, with photos, videos, times, dates, locations, even in some case, the trucking companies, addresses and phone numbers, which by the way several of these same day in same day out trucks tend to be local, Royal Waste, Liberty Cement, the dump trucks, etc that you see each and every day and around the same times over and over again. Sure they are showing disrespect for the communities they do business in, but the most disrespect is from the powers to be that continually allow this illegal and poor quality of life issue to go on each and every day and our local officials who are not standing up for what is right for the community, just not on this street but other residential streets in this community that our dealing with the same issue.

As one person stated on another site, “Alas, in Queens County alone, corruption, graft, greed, dysfunction and dereliction of public duty have just been redefined, for the highest levels of willful failure, that is now below gutter level!”

People fed up with junk-filled property

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

In a relatively nice area off of Merrick Blvd (as can be seem by the above photo), sits some nice houses with yards, most of which are well taken care of, but directly near these homes not only sits the garbage strewn abandoned playground/vacant lot which I posted earlier, but another major eyesore, a vacant house at 108-50 171st Place owned by Bangladeshi slumlord Mahbubur Rahman (why am I not surprised). I point out this individual's ethnicity because more and more Bangladeshi slumlords have been causing many issues in Jamaica like this, while living in another community and allowing their property to fall apart and not give a shit who they rent to. Can you imaging them doing this in Forest Hills but yet they pull this shit in a predominately black community and they get away with this and our black leaders do shit.
Residents told me that the house has been vacant for about two months, but before that, was filled will possible squatters, while this slumlord did nothing, allowing the house to deteriorate. Over the years residents filed complaints about abandoned cars in the yard, illegal conversions, many families living in a house not set up for that. The owner was fined $2500 by DOB for illegal use of a residence with the cars in 2008. To this day that fined has not been paid. Before that the previous owner had complaints filed against him, but DOB did nothing in that matter.

A strange way to revitalize Jamaica

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

We have “Jamaica Revealed”, the Jamaica BID event to promote the potential of Jamaica. We have the “Jamaica Now Action Plan” by Queens Borough Melinda Katz and Mayor de Blasio for the revitalization of Jamaica. But what we really have in Jamaica is SHIT and more of it being dumped into this community.

Across the street from the New Ideal Basket Grocery Market (very nice), near the Walgreen’s and by several apartment buildings, located at 175-20 Hillside Avenue is a very plain looking 3-story building which over the last couple of years housed the Allen Health Care Service, a dentist office, an STD Testing Express site and some other businesses, but since last year has been empty, that is until now.

Walking by last week, I noticed, shall I say, “questionable types” going in and out of the building, some getting out of vans, others walking and being let in by a security guard. At first I thought, homeless shelter, but they all did not quite fit that bill and the faces were always changing. So today, when I walked by the “folks” hanging out waiting to go in around 8am, I stopped and talked to the security guard to ask him, what is in the building. He hesitated and really did not want to say anything, but eventually told me, that is what a methadone clinic. Maybe that explained the baggie filled with orange pills on the sidewalk at the entrance of the 179th Street station.

So is this what you call the “Revitalization of Jamaica”? Just what we need, a bunch of heroin addicts hanging out.

As usual let’s keep dumping crap into our community while praising the “potential” of Jamaica. So what power to be gave the go ahead on this one and where was Community Board 12 of yet another crap thing dumped into the hood.

Joe Moretti kisses Jamaica goodbye

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

Time to head to greener and much cleaner pasture and time to finally say goodbye to Clean Up Jamaica Queens and eventually good riddance Jamaica and all its ghettoness. I feel that way too much of my time was wasted in a community where way too many people do not give a shit, too many bottom of the barrel types live and some of the worst, corrupt and lazy elected officials ever are in office. I would look around this community and just shake my head and say "what the fuck am I doing here and fighting for". Look at many parts of this "community", if you could call it that, it is one big total mess with very little to offer anyone outside of low-class ghetto trash and immigrants who do not know better. Every time getting angry at Jamaica is time that I wasted and can never get back, so time to move on and end this.

My goal from the get go was to bring major awareness to the horrendous garbage problem and other quality of life issues here in Jamaica and throw them into the public's eye and especially into the many useless, corrupt and lazy politicians faces of the Jamaica community who have done such a disservice to this place. So in that sense, I have accomplished the goal that I had always set out to do, I never had visions of grandeur nor did I think I would ever carry this out for as long as I did. But like everything in life, all things come to an end and my part has ended.

NYPD tickets passengers escaping bum stink

A familiar scene, riders wait on the platform at the first Jamaica Center Station anticipating seats. Then bam, in and out; like a dusty blue bell. Riders trying to escape danger to their health from bums; they passed through the train cars in search of clean air.

But as they bolted through the train cars, they encountered police officers. Each rider was extracted from the train by the police; and given a ticket.

The police officers are quite aware of the routine; so they were armed and ready with their ticket booklet. Ironically, passing through the cars is illegal; it is meant to keep riders safe.

However, it is legal for riders to inhale germs. A deliberate effort to make people sick. Anyone has a better logical conclusion?

Train cars # 9230 & 9231 & 9232 were emitting a strong scent, so naturally riders tried to escape. Meanwhile, riders had to stand in packed cars while the bums occupied most of the seats. Not only with their bodies, but with their sickening scent. - Pamela Hazel

________________________________________________

Another great job Pamela, local elected officials should turn a percentage of their overblown salaries to you.

Boy, does this city have everything ass backwards, low-life folks and elected officials get away with everything and upstanding citizens get a big F*CK YOU up the ass without lube.

Here in Jamaica, we cannot get proper enforcement of dangerous illegal truck driving on residential streets, we cannot get a crackdown on illegal conversions, we cannot get enforcement on illegal curb cuts, we cannot get any help on the major garbage problem and the homeless have turned our subway cars and Jamaica Center Station into a roach motel, but NYPD takes the time to give tickets to law abiding citizens, including elderly woman and people going to work who are just trying to escape the deadly fumes and bugs from the bottom barrel cave dwellers, people who made bad career choices in their lives.

Majorly F*CKED UP NYPD and normally I side with you, not this time.

And where the hell are you Katz, Comrie, Miller, Wills and the other assorted do nothing political welfare cases. Oh, wait, Wills is prepping for his eventual trial on corruption charges and Comrie is just being Comrie, which is smiling for a camera while bullshit flies out of the side of his mouth and collecting tax payers money. - Joe Moretti

Can you imagine if we had a whole borough full of Pamelas and Joes? Things would sure be a lot different.

Live from Jamaica: The next hot neighborhood!

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

It is so funny when I read the other day, that Jamaica is going to be one of five new "hot" areas come 2015. Funny, because the below quality of life issues that plague this community continue over and over again and Jamaica certainly does not look like the next "hot" neighborhood, especially with the large majority of slobs, bottom of the barrel folks, slumlords, a poor excuse of elected officials and a lack of enforcement on many issues.

Plus, no matter what city agency you talk to the same thing "not enough man-power". This excuse has gotten so fucking old and if NYC was a business, it would have been shut down decades ago. How about enough with the fucking excuses and just enforce the fucking laws on the books. How can you keep cramming more and more people into this city if you 1) do not have the infrastructure to handle it and 2) you say you don't have the 'man power".

A tale of 2 communities

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

Two big differences between a place like Forest Hills (a mostly community of white) and Jamaica (mostly a community of color). One is the quality of people, while Jamaica has many bottom of the barrel type slobs that bring down a community, Forest Hills does not. But the biggest difference, quality of life issues would NOT be tolerated in Forest Hills by the powers to be, while in Jamaica, the powers to be (including our BLACK elected officials) allow quality of life issues to exist because they do not enforce laws, allow people to do whatever they hell they want (and the folks know this) and really don’t seem to give a shit.

While the 103rd “The Untouchables” cannot handle all of this shit, (I mean they are police officers who have other issues to deal with), the other city agencies need to step up to the plate and our elected officials, including Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, need to really address these issues in communities of color. The following quality of life issues are not new, but just are not really being addressed and lack of enforcement is allowing this to continue again and again. I am sure not one single of the below issues exist in Ms. Melinda Katz’s hood, so why should they be allowed to exist and continue in Jamaica. I will tell you, because it is a color of community and the powers to be do not really give a shit and the people here are not being loud enough of the bullshit and nonsense going on.

Cleanliness is next to godliness

From PIX11:

Trash is not an uncommon sight along New York City streets.

Neighbor across the city regularly organize clean-up projects. In Long Island City, one group helped clean up an area around Queens Plaza.

A website in Jamaica, Queens routinely calls on elected leaders and neighbors to pitch in and help.

NYC’s Department of Sanitation has more than 6,000 workers who collect 12,000 tons of trash and recycling every day. They also sweep the city’s 6,000 miles of streets and empty 25,000 corner litter baskets.

For equipment and help organizing a neighborhood clean up, contact building management or the DSNY’s Community Liaison Unit at (646) 885-DSNY.

Jamaica garbage situation getting serious attention

From the Queens Courier:

When Joe Moretti moved to Jamaica, Queens, back in November of 2010, New York City was about to experience one of the worst blizzards in its history. As more than a foot of snow covered the streets and sidewalks of his new neighborhood, Moretti was unable to see what really lay beneath. It wasn’t until the snow started melting months later when he saw that the piles of snow covered up piles of garbage.

“There was a vacant lot next to my building that always had a bunch of garbage all over the sidewalks around it and people would keep putting more. I started taking pictures and sending them to the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) and 3-1-1 because I wanted it cleaned up,” said Moretti, who has now been living in Jamaica for almost four years. “As I started walking all around Jamaica, I kept seeing more and more garbage, so more pictures and more reporting to the [DSNY].”

Moretti even took to YouTube, and posted music videos about it. While the videos garnered some media attention, Moretti wanted to get even more attention on the problem.

“I thought, ‘How can I crank this up some notches?’” Moretti said.

And that is when “Clean Up Jamaica Queens” was born. “Clean Up Jamaica Queens” is a blog Moretti started in 2013 to highlight the worst problems in the area: garbage strewn in to vacant lots, sidewalks and streets. He uses harsh language and writes in a tone that many might find offensive, but at the end of the day, he gets his point across.

“That has helped to bring attention to this major problem in Jamaica. Everyone is now talking about the garbage problem, whether they are offended by what I say or not. People are starting to do something. At the end of the day we all want the same thing: a cleaner, safer and better community, I just happen to do it in a loud and different way,” Moretti said.

He posts pictures that he takes around the neighborhood and writes a few choice words for some of Jamaica’s elected officials.

“Our leaders have been completely useless on this issue and have failed to do anything. They need to make sure that all the laws on the books such as littering, uncovered garbage cans and household garbage in public garbage cans are enforced,” he said. “People here feel they can do whatever they want because there are no consequences. It truly is the Wild Wild West of Queens.”
