let’s take a look at the Austin St. Underpass Walkway, which after months of complaints had the graffiti finally removed only for it to reappear along with garbage and human excrement (CRAP), plus out of control weeds on a public sidewalk right along with garbage dumping. Glendale RV extravaganza!

A busy street in Queens has been a little more crowded lately – not with cars, but with recreational vehicles.

Glendale residents say the RVs have been parked there for a while, creating an eyesore in the community.

A worker for the moving company, Brian and His Van, that owns the vehicles said not to worry, they will be moved out of there in the next few weeks. He said three of the RVs are used for travel and construction, and one is being transformed for the community.

Carrington said it will soon be called the Multimedia Dream Machine, a mobile art and music studio for local students.

So, is this "establishment":

a) a moving company
b) for travel and construction
c) an art and music studio

Removed trash baskets cause dumpers to trash neighborhoods

This PIX11 story is about a residential area in Harlem having their street corner trash baskets removed, however we're aware that this seems to be happening all over the city, even in commercial areas. There's a backwards logic that removing cans means people won't dump trash, which just is not the case.

Contractor dumped lead contaminated soil near Middle Village school

A $22 million sewer main project in Middle Village that was nearing completion suddenly stalled in December, and no one in the community knew exactly why.

There was some talk among area leaders that workers were transferred to another job site or that they had various problems digging into the ground.

But on Tuesday, Councilman Bob Holden (D-Middle Village) said the real reason for the project’s halting was much scarier.

“The Department of Design and Construction sent four representatives to my office on Friday and they told me the project stopped because of contaminants in the soil,” Holden said. “I asked one gentleman what were the contaminents in the soil.

“He said high levels of lead.”

As if that wasn’t a big enough issue, the lawmaker said that problematic soil that had been excavated during the Penelope Avenue sewer work is sitting in a yard leased by CAC Industries — the project contractor — across the street from PS/IS 128, a K-8 school in Middle Village.

The massive mounds of dirt had been sitting uncovered at the site, possibly for months, as a tarp wasn’t placed over them until this week.

And at both a press conference and Community Education Council District 24’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, Holden said the person who spoke about the high lead levels — a senior DDC project manager based in the immediate area — was contradicted by his colleagues over how dangerous the soil was and if it was covered.

The lawmaker added he visited the site last Friday and noticed the massive mound of soil was uncovered. But on Monday, he claimed, DDC Acting Commissioner Ana Barrio falsely told him it had been covered the entire time and that the agency project manager “misspoke” regarding lead levels.

Woodside CSX tracks are a mess

“Here, where it’s a private company and private property, it’s impossible for the city to even get in there,” City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer told Duddridge.

Neighbors are now adding rodents to their list of complaints, saying the animals are running rampant.

“We don’t now want the rats and mice and whatever seeping into our homes and apartments,” said Corrao.

The New York City Department of Sanitation says its cleaning unit inspected the area last month. It says CSX has been notified and has seven to 10 days to either clean up or sanitation crews will at the company’s expense.

There’s still one more hurdle – the sanitation department can’t clean up the property until a judge grants crews a warrant to enter the grounds.

Of course having a homeless shelter a few blocks away in Kew Gardens in the Comfort Inn does not help the situation, in fact, this skid row is helped immensely by this failed policy of one of the worst Mayors in New York history. DeBlasio’s legacy will be the destruction of good communities and bad communities to get even worse, while all the while he poses as some progressive liberal, though his administration has been corrupt and the homeless population has increased greatly under his so-called leadership.

Speaking of so-called leadership, what are the hack elected officials of Forest Hills going to do about this mess here in Forest Hills on SKID ROW. You know Forest Hills folks like political hack Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and the awful do nothing while standing by city councilmember, the dishonorable Karen Koslowitz.

Middle Village being dumped on

I am attaching pics I took this morning....this is on 75th Street in Middle Village. This is the side of the Coliseum Gym at 75-09 71 Avenue Middle Village.

This has been this way for several months....I have called Sanitation Garage in Maspeth....they have not come and issued ticket ...I am assuming because then it would have been cleaned up.

This is a mine field of junk...the snow has melted ...they never shoveled...this side street....I believe its there responsibility, if its their business. I just dont know how they get away with this....they must know someone at Sanitation.

What else can be done...this should definitely in the Hall of Shame....

Mayor suddenly notices dumping in SE Queens

At a town hall on Monday in Jamaica, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that he will address one of the biggest issues facing Southeast Queens for decades—illegal dumping.

For years, the streets of Southeast Queens have been littered with garbage and waste left behind by drivers. The dumping has long perturbed residents, who often find trash on their private property, reducing the quality of life in the area. While the city has relied on tickets to curb the issue, it has done little to crack down on those committing the crime repeatedly, residents have said.

“We will double the number of sanitation officers here in Southeast Queens,” the mayor said to loud applause. “We need to do a better job and put more personnel on it.”

The mayor said that the longstanding issue was brought to his attention by Community Board 12 and its former chairwoman and City Council hopeful, Adrienne Adams.

So as chair of the community board she noticed it and nothing got done, but now that she's the party pick, the mayor is listening? Doesn't say much about the mayor's respect for community boards, does it?

Council member's excuse is that Jamaica "has a dumping problem"

WHY is illegal dumping a challenge for the district? Well, that is the statement that Councilman I. Daneek Miller stated to NY1, “Illegal dumping is a challenge for the district”.

BUT why Mr. Miller, an all white area does not have an illegal dumping issue like Jamaica. Plus this is nothing new, this takes place all over the community and has been taking place for years and decades. But when you have elected officials, community leaders and church leaders who do very little to nothing for their community, when you have bad neighbors, like this sh!tty Family Dollar store, when you have a lack of enforcement, when you have a low amount for fines (this dollar store was fined a measly $100) and when there is not any kind of common sense (just put up a damn fence and install security cameras), this kind of sh!t will continue to go on and on and on in this community.

So Sanitation, elected officials and even this sh!tty neighbor dollar store all say “we are aware of the situation”. Well, that is the standard answer for all quality of life issues. The issue is the addressing and solving of the fucking problem. I love the line from the @sshole spokeserson for this sh!tty Family dollar:

A spokesperson for Family Dollar thanked us for bringing it to his attention. He says he’s gathering more information to quote “address this concern promptly.”

REALLY, F*CKING REALLY. I mean this is your damn property, you mean you needed NY1 to bring this to your attention and you need to gather more information. WHAT F*CKING INFORMATION. Your property looks like it is from some third world country, what more information do you need @SSHOLE?

Bill signed to curb Jamaica Bay pollution

The Jamaica Bay Borrow Pit Bill creates a five-year extension to legislation prohibiting the dumping of toxic materials into the borrow pits – areas of deeper water depths in the bay created by projects that excavated, or “borrowed,” seabed sediments for use in other areas – under the bay. This extends through 2022 language in state Environmental Conservation Law requiring permits for filling borrow pits with materials generated by dredging projects in area waterways. Under this restriction, the sediments must also meet the State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Class A criteria for chemical contamination, the state’s highest sediment classification.

The law is set to take effect immediately, with an expiration date of June 30, 2022.

Dumped on Jamaica lot cleaned up

For months residents had been calling on local leaders to clean the garbage; at James Fobb's property; as always residents were ignored. That was until Monday when my comrade and I exposed the garbage and the political gangsters.

One day later, Nov. 22nd. supporters were calling me, saying that sanitation workers were out in full force. At long last the disastrous garbage-filled, animal infested, garage was cleaned.

It was a task to remove: couch, tv, chairs, boxes, mattresses, pieces of bed rails, several bag of garbage, other items and of course the shitty exposed toilet.

Queens political gangsters should hide their heads in shame. They call themselves political leaders; but they are only monitors. These democ(rats) only monitor the problems. They are incapable of fixing problems.

During the campaign, borough president, Katz said that she will "hit the ground running from day one." Well, the liar has been on her throne for years and black people are still suffering. The other do nothing, Senator Comrie is a disgrace to the black community. All the black leaders have: FOOLED, FAILED & FORGOTTEN black people.

However, my comrade, supporters and I will keep the fire up their asses. We will hold them accountable.

Boranian, you are in charge of constituents services; at Katz's office. You are a paid employee. We do not want favours, just do your damn job. If you do not, you will be in misery. Your boss is the ring leader of the gangsters. For this reason, we will keep on your ass. Don't like it, then LEAVE our community.

Jamaica dumping location is dirty again

"The Democrats have fooled, failed and forgotten black folks for decades. The garbage filled, abandoned garage is only one example. It has been the subject of complaints for years.

Cleanup Jamaica Queens group first ventured unto the premises more than two years ago. That triggered the borough president to contact sanitation and the property was cleaned a few times. Prior to that, all the politicians told residents that they cannot enter “private property.”

However this community, Jamaica Queens is controlled mostly by black politicians. They come out in full force during elections; then they disappear.

Voters get very little for their loyalty. And so blacks are stuck in hell. Complaints to many problems go unnoticed and unresolved.

Nonetheless, my comrade, and I will continue to expose, expose, expose; because taxpayers pay the politicians’ salaries.

Boranian, you are in charge of constituents services at Borough President Katz’s office. Thus, you should have taken care of the deplorable site months ago, but as usual, that’s not the reality.

Can you contact sanitation and take care of this heart-wrenching, depressing, animal ravishing heap of garbage? This is no way that human beings should spend Thanksgiving.

Parking lot turns into garbage dump

A parking lot near a shuttered store in Forest Hills has turned into a "dumping ground" that neighbors said is full of electronic debris and food waste, but officials warned that cleaning the trash poses a challenge because it's private property.

Garbage started piling up at the parking lot of the now-shuttered Sports Authority, at 73-25 Woodhaven Blvd., on the border of Forest Hills, Rego Park and Glendale, after the store closed at the end of July following the chain's bankruptcy earlier this year, residents said.

The problem at the lot, located between Trader Joe’s and The Home Depot, has been escalating daily, residents said.

The city received at least two complaints about the illegal dumping near the closed Sports Authority on Aug. 10 and 13, records show, and is "in the process of investigating" the issue.

Frank Gulluscio, district manager at Community Board 6, which covers Forest Hills and Rego Park, said that the board has been working on the matter with the Department of Sanitation, but the process takes time because it’s private property and special procedures have to be followed.

“The City of New York cannot just go in there because it’s private property,” Gulluscio said. “It’s a process and it takes time.”

Someone's dumping tires along the Clearview

Stacks of abandoned tires have been seen littering the side of the highway around 73rd Avenue and Clearview Expressway in recent months.

The Department of Transportation, which believes this is the work of one outfit dumping entire truckloads at once, has been regularly required to haul the garbage away. The city agency has been quick to remove the tires, diligence which was praised by City Councilman Barry Grodenchik (D-Oakland Gardens) and state Assemblyman David Weprin (D-Fresh Meadows) at a Tuesday news conference.

“The area alongside the Clearview Expressway is protected parkland, and no part of New York City, least of all our parks, is to be used as a private dump,” said Grodenchik, referring to nearby Cunningham Park. “As a community, we spend a lot of time and effort keeping our parks and neighborhoods beautiful, and this illegal tire dumping is an affront to our work.”

City prefers that Flushing stay dirty

A business-led solution to address illegal dumping and garbage on Flushing streets was canned by the NYC Department of Sanitation on Monday.

Crown Container, a private contractor for commercial garbage pick up, announced on Friday that they would remove trash from a pedestrian triangle at the intersection of 37th Avenue and Prince Street, where illegal dumping is common.

But on Monday, the company was told they had to pack up the five industrial-strength garbage receptacles they had placed on the triangle, or face fines and violations.

Crown had volunteered to empty the bins once a day free of charge, in the hopes that those who were dumping would use the receptacles and therefore keep the area neater.

They had specifically ordered the bins, which cost upwards of $600, from Wisconsin.

But Sanitation believes private containers on public property were against the rules and probably a bad idea.

“Private trash containers cannot be placed out on public property without the City authorization. Placing private trash containers there would more than likely attract more bags and illegal drop offs,” a spokeswoman for the agency said.

(It's more likely that they are planning to give a contract to one of de Blasio's donors to remove the trash.)

A new way to report quality of life problems

Abandoned cars, noise complaints, garbage and crime are problems in the city.

Neighbors report thousands of issues every month to NYC 311. The NYPD is also directly seeking community ideas.

At 6 precincts, NYPD is testing a program based on software from IdeaScale. Since the late Fall in the 113th Precinct in Southeast Queens, the site for neighborhoods in and around St. Albans has registered nearly 200 users and processed about 50 cases.

Sergeant Widy Geritano says it's similar to a social media site. Members from the community can sign up and anonymously write about issues they observe. Officers use their handheld devices to access the site.
