From DNA Info:
Fresh off a week-long trip with his family to New England, Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke Monday at the kickoff for the U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park — but it wasn't exactly an ace.
Tennis fans loudly booed the mayor from the minute he was announced through his praise of Arthur Ashe Stadium's brand-new roof and into his remarks about a player he planned to root for, according to video of the event and social media.
During his remarks, de Blasio told the crowd "a lot of New Yorkers are going to be rooting for Puerto Rico's own Monica Puig, we are so proud of what she achieved in the Olympics."
But the recent gold medalist had been eliminated from the tournament earlier in the day, losing in the first round to China's Zheng Saisai.

Mets fans don't like de Blasio
From the Daily News:
Mayor de Blasio was met by a chorus of boos by Mets fans at the team’s home opener Monday.
Jeers broke out as soon as the mayor, who is open about his allegiance to the Boston Red Sox, was announced during pre-game festivities at Citi Field.
“Stop inviting him!” one fan yelled from the crowd.
The mayor donned a Mets cap and jersey with “DE BLASIO” on the back, with a No. 6 on it in honor of 1960s-era Red Sox player Rico Petrocelli.

Rockaway gives de Blasio the raspberry
From the Daily News:
“Give that man a watch!” hooted one green-clad heckler as a tardy de Blasio marched just 12 blocks of the 25-block route. He joined the parade about 20 minutes late.
Within two blocks, the boos began raining down as de Blasio walked past in a green Sanitation Department jacket and matching tie.
“Worst mayor ever!” chanted angry locals after the mayor stopped at a firehouse on Beach 116th St.
Among those joining in the raucous chorus of boos was Carole Jones, 63, a lifelong Rockaways resident.
“He didn’t come last year, so why come this year and be late?” she asked pointedly. “He’s not well-liked down here in the Rockaways. It’s nothing new for him. He’s always late.”

Bloomberg booed in Rockaway

Mayor Bloomberg was dogged by jeers as he marched in a St. Patrick’s Day parade through the Rockaways, booed by some residents frustrated with the city’s response to Hurricane Sandy.
The parade was a welcome break for the Queens neighborhoods devastated by the storm but the dozens of boarded-up businesses and damaged homes along the route were a symbol of the work that still needed to be done — and the raw feelings of the locals.
“I booed loudly,” said Margaret Wagner, 48. “We had no food, no shelter. People died here, and Bloomberg was on TV talking about a marathon. It’s appalling.”
Council Speaker Christine Quinn, the mayoral frontrunner, briefly walked with Bloomberg but then fell back along the route.

MLK crowds not fond of Bloomberg

Mayor Bloomberg drew jeers from Brooklyn to Harlem during Martin Luther King Jr. Day events yesterday.
At the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where he was one of a dozen city elected leaders and politicians on hand, Bloomberg was greeted with cackles, groans and boos the moment he stepped on stage.
“Come on, time out,” an exasperated Bloomberg said as he tried to talk about his education policy.
“For those of you who want to express yourself, there’s a time and a place for everything. We’re here to honor a man who valued education,” he implored.
Bloomberg’s attempt to compare his record on education — boasting of higher graduation rates for minorities — to the priorities of the slain civil-rights leader only escalated the booing.
“Thank you, that’s very genteel,” he said, looking toward hecklers in the audience. “You probably belong in — never mind.”
That remark brought a stunned silence to the audience, before Bloomberg quickly wrapped up.

Michael Bloomberg at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Commemoration (3/25/11)
Numerous speakers were met with cheers by the thousands in attendance at the rally to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire--but not New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg. The pro-labor crowd loudly booed and heckled Bloomberg from start to finish. Bloomberg has rolled back worker benefits, threatened to lay off thousands of teachers, and treats construction accidents as the cost of doing business.

Sight of Bloomberg offends Rockaway Irish

Boos followed Mayor Bloomberg yesterday as he walked in the annual St. Patrick’s Parade in Rockaway, Queens — his first Irish outing since he made a quip about their drinking last month.
Many in the working-class neighborhood also got their Irish up over Bloomberg’s cost-cutting initiatives, including his efforts to overhaul the city pension system, fire more than 4,000 teachers, and change the “last in, first out” rule for teacher layoffs.
“Go back to Manhattan!” yelled several parade-goers as Bloomberg and other elected officials strolled the 30-block route along Newport Avenue and Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Belle Harbor.
“Take the A train home!” shouted someone amid the sea of bagpipes, green face paint and Irish flags.
Chants of “Union-buster!” and “Respect the teachers!” trailed after Bloomberg, who was making his 10th consecutive appearance at the parade.
