I had no idea there were so many black Republican candidates, and my guess is most of the rest of the NYC populace who believe themselves to be "active and informed" did either.

There are plenty of Black Republicans in NYC, that same also for Latino's. While the majority tend to be Democratic, there are many who are not. The powers that be and do nothing and crooked black leaders like Senator Leroy Comrie and Congressman Gregory Meeks would like you to think that is not the case.

Remind me again why we have a city council?

Another layer to spend and steal our taxpayer money.

What function do they serve that isn't duplicated or triplicated?

Actually, the City Council has very little control over the city budget. They are a legislative body.

That's a nifty bowtie, but I've met Hettie quite a few times and have been genuinely impressed by her. She's got my vote.

A vote for Hettie is a vote for the people. She has been volunteering her time and energy for all people regardless of their background. She is not part of the democratic machine; the hand-picked regime.
