Goodbye, Worldport

From the Retrologist:

This ruin is all that’s left of the once glamorous Worldport, the Pan Am terminal at JFK.

As a child, the Worldport represented the future to me, with all its wondrous possibilities, full of travels in sleek jet airlines to far off lands. Sadly, its present state represents my current view of the future, the future of the world, the nation and this city.

Wish we could have kept it. Sad.

I went back there with more folded up bands of cash to try and buy some of original 60s light fixtures. They were all ripped out the ceiling went to the landfill. This time the foreman on the job scolded his men for talking to me and had me thrown out. I did get a blue round porcelain sign of the old Pam AM wing logo
I did rescue some colored accent lights from Shea stadium and glob fixtures high up on the New York State pavilion .
Both were real hard to do.

everything we knew and loved about living in queens and new York as a whole is disappearing very quickly. its time to move on and let the dirt people have it now. nothing more to see here.

Ten years ago I would have cursed out anyone with such a defeatist attitude. Now, I realize that we are pissing in the wind. Our elected officials have become our own worst enemies. They won't lift a finger against the tweeded masses making up their own rules while destroying our neighborhoods. But our own elected officials will fight tooth and nail against us for making any attepmt to preserve our homes, our neighborhoods and our quality of life. What more is left to fight for?

I agree, the sheeple are to many and now control the votes. My drive down Forest ave today gave me the conclusion let the garbage have it and get what they deserve.
I have a Stier house on Seneca ave and Im having a real hard time finding a buyer despite its original and restored.
Buyers (the ones with $$) want a garage and more important see the schools. Now they wait for schools PS68 & IS77 to get out and instantly run for the hills.
This is because come 3:08PM this wave of 3rd world looking kids come down the street like gangsters, slobish wild animals--1000s of them (only dozens in the 70's)
This citys f_cked !!! All these kids will be repeating the same behavior (and in 4X the numbers) of there welfare brat pregnant parents in 10 years.

Now add a new super liberal mayor and democrat mob who are going to give these dumb brats anything they want at property owner and taxpayer expense ?
2 words: ...F_ck this !!!

Queens east of the BQE will be another Detroit or South Central Los Angeles cesspool in 10 years.
There can not be enough jobs, government funds to support these huge future numbers--the math simply CAN NOT work its simply impossible.
TIME TO GET OUT NOW even if it means taking a $$ hit things will only get worse.

constant building of high rise apts., constant illegals living 6 to a room, people renting out there basements illegally and no oversite for 30 years and the chickens have come home to roost. it all started with the immigration act of the mid 60s which removed quotas on Asians. flushing was the hardest hit then and there is no looking back. last person out of queens please take the flag.
