Wrong My landlord said 30 years ago the G train was packed with workers commuting from Brooklyn and forest hills.
That area had many many factories, lots of classic stereos were made in LIC in the 60's70s 80's and the G train was a major link. Times have certainly changed
Funny how everyone is going apeshit cause the Tower People don't have service a few blocks away, or in Astoria, the overserviced Ditrmars station is getting cut back to the same level as the rest of the city.
F_ing disgusting ! Especially after such a nice day outside. These people should be ashamed of themselves. It wont be long before all those electrical conduits start loosing there grounds, killing people and causing stray currents.
The Russian's have better maintained subways in the worst areas.
Looks like the Subway system in the 1980's in NYC. MY how things haven't changed much. Try to find a subway system in Europe or even Japan or Korea for that matter that looks that bad.
"What do out-of-towners think when they see this?"
I've taken out-of-towners and friends from foreign countries around the city. When they see the dripping ceilings and leaking pipes, the gum stuck to the concrete floors, the rats, and the overall filth, their expectations of New York as a world-class city are shattered.
I love taking visitors to Hillside Avenue in Jamaica or Main Street in Flushing.
Recently at the Times Square end of the shuttle, a well-attired woman from out of town approached me for directions to the Museum of Art. After giving her directions, a short conversation ensued. Looking around at her surroundings she commented that it was a shame that the subway station was in such a sad state of repair. “New Yorkers deserve better.” I thought about her words for the rest of the day. We do deserve better. Occasionally it takes someone from out of town to point out just how desensitized we have become by our surroundings.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. You should take that photo down.
We're eating brunch right now and nobody wants to look at another Claire Shulman diaper bursting scene.
That's the subway of one of the "greatest" cities in the world. It looks like this beause "there's no money."
Well, stuff like this takes money to fix, something that cowardly Albany politicians continue to deny the MTA.

Yet this is ignored.
Funny.
Does soap and water cost that much?

What are you talking about? This picture was taken after the lazy workers cleaned it up.... How proud they are of themselves....

Nah! I don't believe it. This picture has obviously been Photoshopped. Our subway is so squeaky clean one can eat off the platforms.
But seriously: For such a supposedly world-class city this is an embarrassment. What do out-of-towners think when they see this?
Little known fact: Bloomberg's Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting always have a set of ready-to-use post-apocalyptic sets. This is only one of them.
