City's Building Boom Enters a New Phase

At least now we're talking about improving infrastructure... from the NY Sun:

City's Building Boom Enters a New Phase

How about "beefing up the "infrastructure now, (building new schools and hospitals etc. for our already over-burdened population) before new building is even considered.... you dopes? Duh! And what amount of truly affordable housing will be included in all of this "mega-building"? Only a token, of course! N.Y.C. may be the most #1 sought after piece of real estate in the world by wealthy foreign (and some local) investors & speculators, but where are the "poor folk" (or even the "middle class", for that matter) going to live? Who is going to "service" all these new aristocrats? Those "underprivileged", of course, who will be residing in the dormatories of Corona, Elmhurst, Astoria, etc.....maybe 20 beds to a room! Where else would Doctoroff or Bloomberg suggest? (Certainly not in their back yards)! Only here, in these places, would the "City Fathers" be willing to turn a "blind eye" to such problems as .....harsh & unsafe living conditions and to hell with all of those illegal aliens who will comprise a lot of this new work force. They will not be permitted to have any rights. Toilet- slaves never had any rights! It looks like shades of the old "5 Points" neighborhood conditions that plagued Manhattan in the 1840s! What's the matter...you don't like a history lessons? Oh...of course... that can never happen now! Open your eyes and have a second cup of coffee... for it's already happening! Will your neighborhood be the next one one that gets sacrificed for such"progress"? While you're at it ...do, get a copy of the "History of The 5 Points" (or at least re-view the movie, "The Gangs of New York") and see what "similarities" to current trends you can spot!

Maybe everytime we see the politicians pandering to 'special' interest groups, we should coin a word to describe it:

they are 'tweeding' them.

For example, 'Did you see the latest Tribune front page? What a bunch of tweeders.'
