Stop posting illegal signs!

We were walking around Juniper Park in Middle Village yesterday (9/27/15) and noticed multiple postings of flyers on the lamp posts and utility poles. There were ones for puppy sales, free chinchillas, yard sales and OctoberFest.

They are littering (illegally by the way) with these postings. The attached was for an Octoberfest at a nearby Church. There were literally over 20 of these flyers posted around the park. We noticed a few concerned people taking some down, but shouldn’t the Parks Department be on top of this?

I understand the need to promote these type of events, but there are neighborhood community bulletin boards (Silverbarn, Artis Pharmacy, Met Foods). Why litter our neighborhoods, especially an event that’s 2 weeks away!

If people continue to post these flyers, our street lamp posts will look like the attached image!

Troublesome timber

Somehow I don't think that this Onderdonk Avenue homeowner owns that telephone pole in their front yard or appreciates the fact that it's leaning at a dangerous angle.

That well-manicured lawn sure is pretty come springtime, and it's a shame that it will be obscured this season. Plus, who would want to work on their garden when there's the threat of a Looney Tunes-type incident occurring?

But if someone doesn't act soon, the result won't be so funny.

The leaning pole of Little Neck

A leaning electric pole in Little Neck, Queens looms large over homeowner Yoon Suk Kang, who has seen the pole fall many times.

It happened not once or twice, but three times.

That means little sleep for the tired homeowner, who has been pleading with Verizon and Consolidated Edison to not only fix the pole but to also get to the root of the problem and raise the wires so large trucks will not hit them.

"Con Edison and Verizon, they came they reinstalled a new pole here and a second one and they promised me [it would] never happen again," says Kang.

But sure enough, last week it did happen again.

The force of the fall was so strong the cables brought down Kang's meter box and now Con Ed is saying he is responsible for fixing it.

Whitestone comedy school continues to post illegal signs

Interesting how a "local civic leader" can continue to illegally promote his businesses in the community with impunity. This one was taken outside of PS209 and was placed well over 10 feet up, making in impossible to reach and remove. Questions are: How did they get it so high up? Did they have a permit for the equipment used to illegally get it up? Why is this being allowed?

When we inquired in the school, we were told they have complained about that same company's signs around the entire school to 311 numerous times, and nothing has been done. "As a matter of fact more signs were placed."

Termites fell utility poles in Springfield Gardens!

From CBS 2:

There was shock on 157th Street as an entire row of utility poles dropped without warning around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Springfield Gardens.

Five poles in total came down with one of them falling on a UPS truck and two others were left bent and leaning.

About 60 Homes on the block and businesses in a nearby industrial park were left in the dark. Workers were also sent home.
