Bribes, fire and death

From the Daily News:

City investigators have linked illegal cellar apartments in the Bronx to bribery and a fatal fire.

A fast-moving blaze in Wakefield Jan. 29 killed Army veteran Al Allen, who was living in an illegal cellar unit on E. 225th St.

Days later, a Fordham homeowner and his son were arrested and charged with bribing the city Department of Buildings to approve an improper cellar apartment.

Ramdat Kharran, 53, and his son Andrew Kharran, 24, were charged with felony bribery and misdemeanor criminal solicitation Feb. 2 for giving $500 to an undercover investigator posing as a building inspector at 2564 Davidson Ave. They face up to seven years in prison for the felony.

The Department of Investigation went after the duo last month after a DOB manager reported a $1,000 offer from Ramdat Kharran to change agency records showing it had denied an occupancy change for the two-family home in 2010.

the elected know about this - everyone knows that this is widespread in every district - so why don't they do something?

they always like to have pictures taken of them - so why aren't they here?

They were probably arrested because the bribe was a measly $500. please note that these are illegal immigrants. bringing third world business practices to Queens.
