Former Bloomberg official fined for lobbying City

From the NY Times:

A lobbyist who served three New York mayors, including Michael R. Bloomberg, has been fined $12,000 for violating conflict-of-interest rules by sending e-mail messages that sought to influence city officials less than a year after he left the mayor’s office.

The Conflicts of Interest Board set the fines, which were announced on Tuesday, after the lobbyist, Anthony P. Piscitelli, acknowledged sending “numerous” messages to public officials on “a number of items” of interest to “several” clients of his law firm. The clients included two trade organizations that represent bankers and theater owners.

Mr. Piscitelli had been the city’s chief lobbyist in Albany since 1998. After leaving the Bloomberg administration in August 2006, he went to work for Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker, a law firm that is a lobbying powerhouse in Albany.

The mayor’s office said Tuesday that the city officials who received the messages had not done anything to favor Mr. Piscitelli’s clients and had not acted inappropriately.
