There’s a new contender for the hottest borough in town.
A report released this week by listings portal StreetEasy predicts that this year will see Queens beat out ever-trendy Brooklyn in terms of residential interest.
“Queens will reign supreme in 2024 after a record-breaking year for the borough in 2023, as both renters and would-be buyers looked farther from Manhattan in search of more affordability,” begins StreetEasy’s “10 NYC Neighborhoods to Watch in 2024” survey, which lists the New York areas that saw the largest increase in searches on the website from buyers and renters between 2022 to 2023.
In first place is Ridgewood, a Queens neighborhood adjacent to Bushwick that offers comparatively quiet, residential vibes and a median asking rent of $3,000 — 8% less than Bushwick’s median of $3,250.
Ridgewood is one of five Queens neighborhoods to rank in StreetEasy’s top 10, with others including Jackson Heights — which is famed for its wonderfully diverse food offerings, from Indian to Tibetan — Kew Gardens and Woodside. Ridgewood saw buyer and renter searches rise by 10.7% from 2022 to 2023, showing its surging popularity among locals looking for a home. What helps in that end is the neighborhood’s collection of restaurants and bars, as well as vintage stores and art galleries.

A place where its impossible to find a parking space, circle the block for 45 minutes only to return to find your car stolen or broken into.
Walk 5 blocks on Myrtle Ave and not hear one person speaking English, hip hop music blasting out of lousy store fronts.
All the cool mom & pop stores are gone, now corporate bullshit. Mexicans making spicy hopped up pizza at Joe & Johns and what left of Coratos served dried up & reheated from a glass fridge or rack.

Worst 2 things about Ridgewood is it packed so tight with people (like London) with all these huge flat apt building's is the 104 PCT is NYP retirement home incapable of keeping order, only interested in parking ticket revenue, you cant own or park a car, let alone 2 trucks and a car.
Now a days almost every home houses 3 or 4 rentals of people who don't speak English. Even in Glendale walking around Cooper ave almost all you hear and see is Spanish and brown people who will stare at you as if to say "What the fuck are you doing here"
Ridgewood is a good place for clueless trust fund hipshits who don't have real jobs or need cars, content staying put, smoking their dope, walking to the store, climbing stairs or riding the M train to the Bohemian scene in Williamsburg.
That article was no doubt bought a written by some real estate entity looking for trust fund brats who don't know any better.
I'm guessing the NLS Real Estate listing cartel who's been jacking all the rents and listings nation wide to make the commissions. They now impose buyers and renters premiums of 7-15% which I say should be illegal.
