I remember Ozone Park from the 60s. Cleanliness and order on the streets was amazing. It was incredibly safe too.
Today it looks quite different.
These signs of unstoppable decline are everywhere. The so-called "Western" countries seem to be advancing towards a certain underdeveloped state, much more in common with Third World countries.

I totally agree. Thanks to religious fanatics and science deniers, this country is being sent back to the dark ages. Banning books down in Florida. Trumpazees dictating to women what to do with their own bodies. Right wing politicians denying rights for transgender people and denying global warming exists because it makes them seem more macho. Crazy religious beliefs is what turned the Middle East from a place of learning and science, to a backward dump similar to Florida.

Born and raised in Washington Heights, I moved from NYC in 2008. Bought a house in northern NJ and commuted back to the city for work. In 2021 I sold my house which I bought back in 2008 for 300k I sold it for 650k. Moved to SC and bought a beautiful 4 bed 3 bath on an acre of land overlooking a lake for 300k cash. 15 minutes from the beach. Property taxes in NJ almost 10k a year, here in SC only 1,500. Early retirement for me at 57. Get out while you can but don’t vote blue, red state vote red. Also, I can carry a gun everywhere I go.
Here in the great swamp of Florida we’ll have to build an ark to replace our trailer.

I live along the Delaware river in the free state of Pennsylvania. It feels as if half of the population of NY/NJ has moved to this area in the past couple of years.
I'd rather they weren't comming here because they tend to bring their "Woke" liberal voting habits with them. I'd like to ask them why do they think the property tax is half that of NJ/NY?
