Appeals court grants homeowners a water tax credit

From the Daily News:

New York’s top court gave its legal blessing Tuesday to Mayor de Blasio’s plan to give homeowners a $183 credit on their water and sewer bills.

In a 5-2 decision, the Court of Appeals overturned two lower court rulings and declared the Water Board can give the credit to a select group of customers.

“It is clear from the governing statutes that water and sewer rates may be determined in accordance with public policy goals and not only economic goals,” Judge Eugene Fahey wrote for the majority.

“The court’s decision clears the way for the Water Board to provide welcome financial relief for more than 664,000 New York homeowners,” de Blasio said.

What kind of crap is this?

If the tax collection exceeds what is necessary......LOWER THE TAX YOU IDIOTS!!!

A tax credit is just another way to redistribute income from the people who do the work and pay the burdensome taxes in this city to the parasites that live off of government handouts.

Another Democrat payday!

this is a small pittance and lame token gesture from the day mayor, who thinks not governing the city he was elected to but going to a sparsely attended political fundraiser is analogous to simultaneously walking and chewing gum.

Don't spend that money too fast citizens. Well, try not to.

How does a water tax credit end up being grounds for your tired attack on "parasites"?

Eh - it's going to lower my water bill(s), so it's a welcome reprieve...Fahey stated the obvious: systemically the provision of water as a PUBLIC good SHOULD be determined without sole regard for economic profit. When the robber barons up top convince the idiots at the bottom that water is a LUXURY ("hey...you don't want your hard-earned water ration going to some MOOCHER, do ya'?"), we'll know we're in some sort of sci-fi dystopia.

Seems to be the way of life in NYC until the working class will leave the city.

Ron: A tax credit goes to people who didn't pay the tax. A tax refund would go to the people who paid it.
