Tony Avella likely to primary de Blasio

The rumors are getting stronger out there that State Senator Tony is going to run against Bill de Blasio next year in the mayoral primary. Avella is apparently as sick of de Blasio and his fauxgressive policies as most of the rest of the city is. Who else will joint he fray? Only time will tell.

Go for it Tony! I feel unfortunately that there are too many mindless idiots who will vote for diblasio in the primary though.

Love this man! The ONLY honest pol in Queens!

You've got my full support, Tony!
My experience as a neighborhood preservationist has taught me that NYC needs a mayor who is a champion for all of its residents and who is not in the pocket of the real estate development industry.
Mayor De Blasio pretends to be the "public's advocate"...a man of the people, when in fact he is actually an ineffective sham.
Bravo! Go for it!

Don't you know that in NY it's very hard for an honest pol to be elected?

Can he beat REBNY's cash fed opponent?
Let's hope so.
The climate for dumping crooked politicians is high.
Proof? Trump just beat a career politician from a well off political dynastic family.
Maybe the times they are a changing!
Good luck , Tony. Kick ass. Clean up corrupt city hall.
We need another Mayor La Guardia right now.
The people are fucking fed up with lazy bums stealing their quality of life out from under them!

Paul Massey and Don Peebles, both real estate developers, are getting into the mayoral race.

Yes.

Do not despair people. Mayor Big Slow does not have this locked. The refusal and rejection of the decade long Manifest Failure Hillary Campaign should be an example of Airdope's chances.

Don't believe the polls once they're up. A lot of liberals hate the Blaz too.

And Avella is familiar. Which is a big factor.

I had the privilege of meeting and talking to Mr. Avella, and he comes across as a geniune gentleman that is concerned with your issues. I would definitely vote for this man over our current Mayor who lacks integrity and credibility.

I love this guy but he has zero chance. Sorry but I wish I was wreong

I cannot get over the fact that Addabbo won. People complain how bad things are and then they vote in the same politicians back in and expect change. They'll probably vote Crowley back in too next year.

If Avellaneda was running for mayor of Queens he would be a shoo win. Time to start speaking to your out if Queens friends and let them know that this is the only politician around that actually listened to his constituents. Run Tony, run.

Tony Avella for Mayor! He has my vote! We need change, we need an honest politician not bought by greed or special interest, Tony Avella will be that change, one who actually cares about NYC, all of its residents and will do the right thing. He will be the answer for those who can't stand DeBlasio and all he has been doing to this city and its residents. Tony Avella for Mayor!

The only Dem I would vote for.

I heart Tony Avella. In 2009 as Council Member, this guy had the guts to call a press conference on the steps of City Hall calling for the end of the extortion of our mostly immigrant biz owners, who were being extorted by their landlord for cash under the table, as a condition for a lease renewal. He called on City Council to vote on and pass the SMALL BIZ JOBS SURVIVAL ACT that would end extortion and these insane rent hikes that push out our successful Mom & Pops. In the end, despite having 32 CMs supporting the bill, REBNY Christine Quinn blocked thd bill from reaching the floor for a vote. Tony Avella is a warrior for working class folks who are struggling to survive. Mr. Avella, if you're reading this, please run there is a groundswell of support for a candidate who will fight for NYers and not sell out to big real estate, like BdB.

Oh Happy DAY——YET ANOTHER 'cradle-to-grave' career politician (not public servant), who will continue (yes, continue) to impose and FOIST corporate mantra on to We the 'SHEEPLE,' with a reckless impunity, and the public be damned!

Hey, Tony, isn't there something (ANYTHING!), that you can do to make a dignified living in the REAL world, maybe work that doesn't support your stressful day oflunch and a manicure in another government paid job? I thought that public service was supposed to be INCLUSIONARY, where 'OTHER'members and residents of the rank and file get a crack at local, regional and national governance. THIS AIN'T NO EXCLUSIONARY COUNTRY CLUB (or is it?)?

Don't be fooled by this New York State hustler, folks. Remember how we inherited our present predator-in-charge mayoral debacle, 'The Air Dope From Park Slope, whose intensely incompetent, insidious and false, fake and failed leadership makes hell look heaven!

You always get the government that you deserve!

To Anonymous #3: There is no such animal as an 'honest politician,' when there isn't even any chance of an honest public servant (if anyone can find one, that is, if they aren't already extinct)!

Worse, New York has lulled themselves into a false sense of security under the expansive 'Avella Umbrella,' which upon closer inspection is ONLY big enough for two: AVELLA, and his monstrous, cradle-to-grave ego.

So, it's apparent then that 'The Stockholm Syndrome' is very much alive and well in New York State, where every languishing captor, I mean taxpayer, looks for remedy, relief and salvation by some of the most corrupt, dishonest, dishonorable, disloyal, derelict and OPENLY betraying, public payroll parasites, all of whom now ironically pass for leadership (despite how they have never even passed the smell test so many decades ago)!

And, if THIS is the duplicitious face of what honest, ethical, inclusionary, NOT FOR SALE leadership (that leads by example) looks like and tragically represents, then We as a voting people need to redefine the meaning of leadership altogether.

Because, right now We the People are bereft on the issue of REAL-and-READY LEADERSHIP, from which our ravaged and tonsured nation already continues to suffer the many, never ending crises of failed leadership. PERIOD!

Jeezus, if you're going to trash Avella on Queenscrap, whom the hell else are you going to put up as an alternative who at has fought REBNY and tweeding with even 1/100th the chance he has at winning? If you can't come up with anyone, please settle for real life incremental progress instead of getting nothing for clinging onto some wishful ideal clamoring for some Cincinnatus incarnate who will never emerge out of the cesspool. We're not going to reverse all of the damage with one perfect administration.

I am waiting to see who runs against this progressive nightmare of a mayor.
Anyone is better than what we have.
Once he goes so does all his racist people in his administration. Bye bye Aja...Banks...and that other guy Lincoln.

GREAT NEWS!!!!

Mayor DeBlasio....not my mayor!!
Did not vote for this guy!
And will not vote for him in 2017!
Someone has to be better than this guy!

Anonymous said...

Good for him,but still won't win.

Anonymous said...

Looks like he will have competition from Sal Albanese, look here:

http://www.nextgennoise.org/archives/albanese-sal-mayoral-bid-nyc.html

And at least Albanese has said he would "drag the FAA into court" over excessive aircraft noise. You won't hear those words from Avella.

Anonymous said...

Great news, as long as John Liu doesn't slip into Tony's seat.

Anonymous said...

Excited to hear this. He is progressive and speaks up for the people he represents.

Anonymous said...

If he runs I wish him luck.I said that if DeBlasio won I'd leave NY and I did.
Now when are all those big shots, who promised to leave the country if Trump won
going to make good on their promise......Get Billy Boy out of Gracie Mansion...I
want to go home.

Lou M said...

This is not and never will be a perfect world. However, Tony Avella earns his votes the hard way...by hard work and getting results for those he represents.
He is a big step in the right direction. I only hope that people have not become so jaded that they don't paint all those in politics with the same brush. Go for it Mr. A. we all win if you do!

Anonymous said...

Mr. Avella you'll get my vote!

Anonymous said...

I'll vote him.

Anonymous said...

Not that I voted for Trump.....and not to compare him in the least with Avella...but Trump was said not to have had a chance of winning.
And...there ya' go. There is an anti politician mood in America.
NYC is full of too fucking many professional career politicians. Therefore, Avella has a damn good chance of draining city hall 's swamp.

Avella was sandbagged from becoming Queens borough president, but he soldiered on for his constituents and delivered against all odds.
The point is Avella has an untarnished reputation and NYC is ready....hungry.... for a change from the status quo of REBNY running our government. I predict that Avella will win against Duh Blaz. Anyone want to start taking bets?

Anonymous said...

Great news! I will engage my entire neighborhood to back Tony for Mayor. Besides his long record of taking the side of and backing up the community on the various issues that affect our quality of life, I like that Avella appeals across party lines. We do not need a Mayor that works only for his narrow democratic platform. We need a Mayor that works for us, the folks who live here and not just the ones who stick money in his pockets!

Anonymous said...

I am a lifelong, pro-union, pro-choice, democrat.

But I have come to DESPISE this repulsive strain of hyperliberalism that controls NYC. Militant, radical feminism (fostered by entitled white girls from the midwest). REBNY controlled council members. Useless community boards (I'm lookin at you, CB7!)

The NY Times and The Guardian will eviscerate Mr. Avella, probably over some BS like bike lanes.

Fuck this city.

Anonymous said...

^^^ agreed bro but not all CB's are useless (I'm on a pretty good one) and we need to stand up for folks like Avella or else we'll have NO ONE looking out for us

I like Sal Albanese a lot, but his record as a vote-getter since leaving the City Council almost two decades ago is nil.

When he ran for Mayor in 2013, he received 1% of the vote in the Democratic Primary - and I voted for him.

This time around, I'm definitely voting for Avella for Mayor.

Not only has Avella earned my trust over many years of being my Councilmember and State Senator, he trounced John Liu in 2014 after defying the Queens Machine and joining the Independent Democratic Conference.

When he left the City Council in 2009 - on principle of refusing a 3rd term, which he could have walked away with - he ran for Mayor in the Dem primary against Bill Thompson. Avella got over 20% of the vote, even though he was outspent by Thompson 10 to 1 and had virtually no campaign whatsoever.

Seven years later - and a lot of legislation and fighting for the residents of the district, city and state - I think Avella has a shot at this and I encourage him to jump into the race ASAP!

How I wish Al Centola would run for Council

This district could really use him. Maybe he can take over Avellas seat if Avella becomes Mayor.

Anonymous said...

Al as councilman or in a role as elected Representstive would be a total win. He is honest and hardworking. He cares for the community and is an asset.

Anonymous said...

He must be tired of commuting to Albany.

Anonymous said...

He has my vote and more importantly my $$$.

Anonymous said...

Well, he'd better get cracking!
De Blasio has already scored 3 major Union endorsements.
It will be a matter of who raises the most money and support.
REBNY can supply a lot of cash.
I hope that Avella is not their enemy.
