Civic group may file slander suit against BdB administration

From the Times Ledger:

The Juniper Park Civic Association is threatening to sue the de Blasio administration for slander by one of its spokeswomen, according to its president, Bob Holden. After city Comptroller Scott Stringer was invited to Middle Village last week speak to a town hall meeting addressing concerns with the city housing single men at the Holiday Inn Express, Aja Worthy-Davis released a statement saying, “Scott Stringer is courting a group advocating for kicking women and toddlers onto the street, using White Lives Matter as their protest song. He should be ashamed.”

The civic group hired attorneys who fired off a letter to City Hall asking for an apology and a retraction before taking the matter to the next level. They have not heard back, Holden said.

“It’s so slanderous and we’re going to take action on it because it’s so irresponsible,” he said. “Nobody connected with the Juniper Park Civic Association used that term during our rallies, only the mayor’s office heard it. It has no remote connection to our group. We invited Scott Stinger to speak to us. It’s the mayor’s office that made this political and racial. I don’t have words, but it reflects the kind of people this mayor has hired. It is false. It is slanderous.”

In late September, the city produced two videos of the Maspeth group protesting outside a Bellerose hotel, and released them to social media. Holden and Addabbo believe the White Lives Matter chants were edited into one of the videos.

I wish there was a way for this lawsuit to extract money from the individuals responsible for this libel than from the city coffers. Maybe Aja and Big Slow would be a bit more tactful if they had to cough up a few grand for their stupidity. It could also apply to rogue cops too.

They should!
Using the race card the city wants to make it racial. Why is everything racial? When will this finally stop? I guess the mayor and his administration does not realize we are all people of color!
Using children in this too is just exploiting them.
When Mr Banks came to the meeting he stated there was 250 people who gave Maspeth their last address. Then you said only adults with children over 18.
No one believed him. Never heard at any protest white lives matter.
The race card is getting very old here!

Oh that is right, cutting funding and trying their best to marginialized anyone who does it to them.

This is how liberals roll. Race card at every turn.

Oh,...and raise taxes too.

They love race card and tax increases.

Would love to see the discovery aspect if this goes to trial. Find out who edited that video and who gave the order to dub in the white lives matter BS.

The de Blasio Administration's arroganance attempts to mask their incompetencies . The Maspeth protests have exposed and brought to the forefront de Blasio's inability to handle the homeless problem in NYC. Hopefully Bob Holden and his powerful civic group will continue to battle de Blasio and further expose his incompetent hires such as spokesperson Aja Worthy-Davis. Go get them Juniper Civic!

"chants were edited into one of the videos"
They do that all the time and get away with it.
YES SUE THEM, Kadoos to Juniper Civic! for growing some balls and stepping up to this thug bastard mayor.

They should consider suing Gothamist as well. That parasitic leftist media aggregator has relentlessly cast Maspeth protestors as bigots.

Always getting shitted on. Every unwanted , overbuilt, dangerous siruation gets dumped here.
Meanwhile the privileged northeast, gets more gravy. How many homeless shelters in Douglas Manor?
NONE that anybody can see!
Keep on fighting for your nabe. Nobody else will if you do not keep the fight going.
Mayor big slow has got to go. Make sure he gets no second term!

DemocRATS and this administration are so typical in their tactics. They become offended at any minor slight, but will viciously attack any entity they feel is not with them. When called out ,they dismiss it a insignificant or simply ignore anyone who dares question them.

I'll gladly donate $$$ to their cause.......

So who's watching his wife's spending on the "mental health projects" she's been working on? How many staff? How many are her friends? How much are they getting paid ? Hello local news media...

I tried commenting on there on this subject, it wasn't even vulgar and I did not bring up Mayor Big Slow's name and my posts got wiped by their "moderators". They are either a bunch of chickenshits. It makes me wonder who runs that site, or sites since they have sister news blogs in other major american cities including for some reason, Shanghai (why? perhaps gothamist is run by a Chinese media conglomerate? Apologies for any latent xenophobia)

And that video can't be any more blatantly manipulated. If I was at that protest, I would have admonished that jerk if he existed, as I am sure anyone else would have. And I think Gothamist would have made that a banner headline if there was any legitimacy to that clip, for they put every faux pas and remark as clickbait.

Of all the despicable things the mayor has done, this is the worst. Everything else could be dismisses as wrong-headed behavior with good-hearted intentions, or as simple incompetence, but there's no other explanation for the video editing and outright lying other than malice and a desire to defame the very people he's supposed to serve.

Robert Holden for Mayor.
