East Elmhurst protests new shelter in their community
Last night members of East Elmhurst and Corona held a protest outside the Marriott Courtyard, just outside LaGuardia Airport. The area already has several shelters and hotels serving as shelters. They were joined by protesters from Elmhurst and Maspeth and announced that they are joining forces.
Stay tuned, folks.

Now that the subjects had their say, they can go back to work, earn money and pay the taxes for the homeless shelter system.
The weather is getting colder, and the participants getting less.
I see so few true winter soldiers.
Unfortunately, In My Humble Opinion, at this time there are not enough winter soldiers to make a difference.
Whatever happened to the three percent?
You will reelect the same tyrants that gave you this mess.
And the powers that be, will do whatever they want...
Hiram Monseratte???
He does bring up a salient point about the Koch years. An incompetent jackass whose ambitions got in the way of running the city and loading his administration with cronies and corrupt fiends. City for Sale by Newfield and Barrett needs to be republished (There might be a copy in our libraries if you can find it.)Although, The alpha dope of park slope mayor is rewriting the book and exceeding even the worst exploits of Mr. HowamIdoing (take his name off that bridge already!). The difference being that De Faustio knows exactly what he's doing, what's going on and is surely running the whole shit show.
Maspeth, St. Albans, now East Elmhurst. What town is going to be famous next from poverty gerrymandering?
And where is our elected borough hostess Katz? You think she would be more visible to her constituents now since her concert series is over.
I see where the crappy collective here pointed out how Mayor Big Slow's agitprop crew is going to spin this yesterday. I doubt anyone will hear "white lives matter" there.
Somebody did say he (blaz) inherited it...
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend" ... Beware folks, Monseratte is slimier than most of the snakes that have crawled around City Hall. This POS is using this cause to reignite his failed political career. No good can come from his association with this cause.
Katz: " If it's good for our families, it's good for Queens." I wonder if she is still saying this.
So Hiram Insinuates himself into the homeless crisis. Does anyone actually believe he cares? It's a political football for him. He wants to be back in your pockets and on the Political teat again... Don't be fooled he's fulla shit!
Once bitten...
DONT FORGET ABOUT CORONA >>> MARCH THERE NEXT !!
"Affordable housing". "Affordable housing". Over and over again this term is bandied about. Just what the hell does that mean? $900 per month rent? What?! For people, I assume, live in the shelters for free? Where are they going to scrounge up that kind of dough?
You want "affordable housing"? Here it is when the US government provided housing for 100,000 during WW II. Cheaply built, too. Why use bricks and mortar when wood and drywall will do? Get over any iberalism sensitivities. Build the huts on those unused bike lanes.
The affordable housing is right here hotels, motels and inns. That is the affordable housing people...having the hotel room stripped out with just beds in it. No kitchens because of the food vouchers. Security on every floor and depending on where it is you can be close to mass transportation or not. The shuffling around from hotel to hotel is common.
Wake up people this is the affordable housing plan and think about it why are people still choosing to live on the streets?
I come to realize you can protest all you want and it's your right too but wake up people this is the mayor's affordable housing plan. The city and tax payers fund this along with the federal government. Why build it? It is here already.
One thing to think about also when you stay in the hotel as a paying guest you pay $200 a night and you are also paying for the rooms below you. They got you both ways. The Holiday Inn will not tell you it is also a homeless shelter.
