DOT caught speeding more than 500 times

From WPIX:

The wheels of government move fast.

Since the start of Vision Zero in 2014, city owned vehicles have racked up 11,367 summonses.

More than 500 of them were handed out to the city Department of Transportation, which implemented much of Vision Zero, an initiative to stem the spike in pedestrian deaths, according to a PIX11 analysis of citation records.

And I thought the UN were the biggest violators.

And that asshole is steering with a laptop, Polly, the screen looks about 13 or 14 inches. These officials just can't help covering themselves. From Mayor Big Slow to the shitty council to even the drones at the DOT, they take care of their own.

Zero consideration, hundred % impunity.

Do the drivers pay the fines?

And blocking crosswalks and double parking.

We ARE THE GOVERNMENT!

WE ARE ABOVE THE LAW.

Do as we say, NOT as we do, or YOU WILL PAY!!!

The fines are a distraction. Tell me how much the tax mules paid for a brand new fleet of hybrid (read: high maintenance / dual power plant) vehicles to cruise around in all day, between all municipal agencies, and what is the cost-benefit calculation of hybrids with oil in the $40's and gasoline low.

Just shows how unrealistic these absurdly low speed limits are.

Make them pay the fine out of their pocket!

If they get into an accident the victim will sue the 'deep pockets' of the city, why don't these useless 'public servants' have any liability? They are only DRIVING THE CAR!!!

It should be deducted from their paycheck and any accident if they are speeding not be written off as Workman's Comp or No Fault.

one wonders why Nassau Cnty abolished the speed cameras ,while Comrade DeBlasio recently installed them on the suckers of Queens Cnty & NYC. ? Call Avella . He recently passed a bill to dismiss county fines & surcharges, when a motorist is found NOT GUILTY.

Nassau Cnty RED LITE CAMERA court resents any one challenging their inconsistent and confused "right turn on red" traffic system. do not ever make a right on red. it is a trap to make $80 for the cnty & a bonus for the installation company.

I don't think cars with "official" plates have to pay tickets, period.

If they garnished paychecks, that might put a stop to the abuse.

And that's not counting how many more that they could of gotten but the plates were not visible due to tar conviently being sprayed on the plate, the plate being bent over, or just missing all together.

DOT wanted this 25 mph bullshit, they should live by it now.

The overall plan is to make things so miserable for drivers, so that they either take mass transit, ride a bike, or best of all - move to another State...

"Ride a bike in a different State" That sounds good to me !
