From the Daily News:
As she wraps up her third term, Queens Borough President Helen Marshall seems to be preparing for retirement early — taking more than 40 days off last year.
Marshall took at least 41 personal or vacation days in 2012, according to a review of her public schedules obtained by the Daily News under the Freedom of Information Law.
The Queens pol, who gets a $160,000-a-year salary from taxpayers, was off duty for much of the summer, taking off most of August as well as nine days in June and July.
That’s on top of a five-day weekend for Memorial Day, and a number of Mondays and Fridays throughout the year.
The count does not include weekends or holidays — including an assortment of minor holidays like Presidents’ Day and Columbus Day — or days when she was listed as working but had no events scheduled.
A spokesman for the borough president said the huge gaps in her schedule were due to a combination of regular vacation time and time spent caring for her ailing husband, who had serious back surgery last summer.

Third term? More like a turd term!
How can an 82 year old perform at maximum speed in any elected office?
There should be an age limit imposed.
Marshall has done nothing noteworthy to better Queens.
She is a poor speaker and very ineffective communicator...wonder why idiots in Queens kept voting for her....
Helen doesn't run borough hall anyway.
Alex Rosa holds her up and policy is often made by the surly looking Irving Poy.
They're always there 24/7 to take developers' calls.
VOTE FOR TONY AVELLA,
IF YOU WANT TO SEE SOME REAL CHANGE!
If Don Pietro "junior" Vallone gets in , we're headed for hell in a hand basket PDQ!
The Feds have arrived and must be crawling all over her shit right about now.
Yes, and Tony Avellla is not only honest but stays awake during meetings and I never wondered what the the hell he was talking about. When he was Councilman he took care of everyone in Queens. But I am sure someone will say he should of taken care of only me.
"Helen takes a lot of time off"
How can you tell?
9 more months, then a big party by the jerks at Borough Hall and I'm outta here.
Dazed and confused....
Yeah...
she's been "out to lunch" since she took office.
The developers run Queens!
They have a back door into borough hall.
Donald Manes had it installed.
Have you ever heard this dummy speak?
What an embarrassment! She's clueless!
But Helen is great at saying "Yes" to real estate developers.
How smart do you have to be to have a one word vocabulary?
Rumor has it that boro hall has already shut down for the year - they will take their pay but no new projects will be taken on.

Sure. Just think of what this does for the image of the Queens voter who sent her back in office twice!!!
Madame President didn't say Yes to the Huangs this time. Although it could be because she really did not have much of a choice.
She recommended to the BSA that the Application submitted on behalf of the Huangs for a Variance and an extension of time to finish their project in Bayside "not be granted".
She really looks frail
Huge gaps in her schedule, hell what about the huge gaps between her ears. This is one dumb ass bitch. When interviewed on the NY1 4 part Jamaica garbage series, she said she had no idea. I guess when people complained about garbage in Jamaica, she said "What do I care about some island in the Caribbean."
"Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z!
Wake me up when it's time for my photo op".
Very true Joe.
At one of my meetings scheduled at borough hall, two of Helen's staff confided in me how "foggy" their boss seems to be and how her chief of staff really holds up the whole show.
Helen, do what the Pope Benny did...resign. It's the right thing.
