Coming out of the woodwork

From The Politicker:

A name familiar to millions of New Yorkers could enter a volatile Queens City Council race.

Rudy S. Giuliani, chief of staff to Republican Councilman Eric Ulrich and second cousin to the former mayor of the same name, is mulling a run for indicted GOP Councilman Dan Halloran’s seat, multiple sources told Politicker.

Mr. Giuliani is perhaps the only candidate who could keep the seat in their party’s possession, two GOP sources argued, since Mr. Halloran was arrested two weeks ago for participating in an alleged bribery scheme and the Republican Party lacks a deep bench in the northeastern Queens district. The sources said Mr. Ulrich is encouraging Mr. Giuliani to run for the seat if Mr. Halloran does not seek re-election.

A special election, which would automatically occur if Mr. Halloran resigned or is convicted of a felony, could present a unique opportunity for a Republican candidate. A crowded field Democrats are already vying for the competitive seat, and as councilmanic special elections are non-partisan, a unified Republican front would be hard to defeat.

Dennis Saffran, a Republican who ran against Mr. Halloran’s predecessor, Democrat Tony Avella, in 2001, may also be weighing another run for the seat. Last year, Mr. Giuliani passed on his own bid against Mr. Avella, who’s now in the State Senate.

Rudy is a smart and talented young man, he is a vast improvement over Halloran and in my opinion the best that the Queens Republican Party could offer. Go for it Rudy!

Rudy was in disguise at a recent republican club meeting. He stayed in the back and was overheard telling his friend "what a bunch losers, these people are pathetic".

That's right Rudy heard you. Next time make sure no one is standing next to you. No mater how old they may look. I am not deaf.

Fuggettaboutit!

This has now become Democratic party turf, since Halloran hammered the last nail in the coffin of the Republican party.

The GOP had better crank up life support for its last remaining stronghold...the Middle Village, Glendale, Maspeth, region of the borough.

Another Rudy Giuiliani?

Hopefully this one didn't marry his first-cousin. I didn't know she was my cousin - I just thought it was a coincidence that she was always at family get-togethers...

Rudy didn't marry his first cousin. He married his second cousin once removed.

I was at same meeting and heard this Rudy

The president of te club was visibly intoxicated
There were about 30 people at the meeting
15 were there for the cake and coffee
Oh yeah the Haggarty brother not in jail was there as well

If these are the new Republicans " taking over " northeast Queens that this Rudy is hanging around there is no shot in hell

"what a bunch losers, these people are pathetic".

I think Rudy is commenting more on the political scene in Queens than anything else - both candidates and constituents....

maybe he should start with a better photograph and not one taken in a photo booth .
Also ,lay off the hair gel unless he's running in New Jersey.

Then it's suprising that the R.C. Church granted an annulment. Must have pulled some strings.

Look at this Eric Ulrich metro-sexual! Are you kidding me? Bring on a real conservative

Amen to that...after what's happened with Halloran, our trust has been seriously broken. I just can't imagine myself voting Republican this year.

I've decided that I'm backing Paul Graziano. He's the only one not connected to any political machine - DEM or GOP bunch of lowlifes that they tend to be - and his work in protecting the neighborhoods of the 19th is well-known.

Have you Queens Crap cats read that indeed "pathetic" letter to the editor that's circulating in a lot of the the current community papers? Going "to bat" for Old Man Ragusa?

Authors? "Losers" Serphin Maltese, Frank Padavan, and Mike Abel.

Quod erat demonstrandum

Former mayor backed Ulrich only because of the Hag Fag mailer, which he thought was targeted at RSG. Only then did it become commone knowledge RSG was gay. NEQ will never elect gays.

They became "losers" only because the Democrats funded Haggerty though Cathy Nolan and Josh Ehrlich

Ognibene is not going to stand for Cathy diluting his Council power

His mother wanted the 1993 campaign to enlist Bronx Albanian thugs like herself

What City Council power does Tom Ognibene have?

Anon No. 16: Tom Ognibene hasn't been on the City Council for a long time.

Fran Rider fired all the Rudy Republicans. They won't vote for him. He should run as a Liberal.

Half the debt Rudy left behind was from before 9/11

Oddo and Ulrich are Ognibene proteges

I've got long hair and a beard....what does a real conservative look like?

Young Giuiliani? Yeah....that's what we need...another candidate who has done NOTHING in our community!

Anon No. 22: That must open a lot of doors for them.

When I've asked people involved in a local GOP club and on Lhotas campaign about his guy whom I've never heard of. I was told about his mother and where she worked and with who.

I reminded this active GOP club member that he works for Ulrich for less than a year. He said "that's right". So again I ask, who is he an what has he done in and for the neighborhood?

Even Paul Vallone , who started "getting involved" after he lost the last democratic council primary, has done more in the last 4 years than his guy. And that my friends, isn't saying much.
