The DOT's street infrastructure negligence and useless bike lane chronicles

All pictures and posts were provided by Northwest Queens resident Dorothy Moorhead. Great job exposing the Transportation Alternatives influenced kakistrocacy that has taken over the D.O.T. - JQ LLC

This is where the westbound Queens Boulevard bike lane ends. How is this safe? If it weren’t for the fact that very few bikers use the bike lane—in a full week I saw a total of 11—there would be many accidents. (Admin note: This part of the road has always been damaged, and it's funny how TA never brought up this hazardous lane merge with vehicular traffic and also how the bike lane ends in Sunnyside. Utter proof of the lack of interest from the bike scientology cult and of actual bike commuting seen on Queens Blvd. Which I have seen myself for nearly 3 decades)

It would be nice—not to mention safer—if DOT paid more attention to faded street signs and potholed streets than it does to bike lanes. Since Transportation Alternatives started running the DOT, it seems like every issue other than expanding bike lanes has taken a low priority.

Here’s another DOT fail. Years ago alternate side parking restrictions were changed. Instead of two days a week, they are now one day in most parts of the city. In Astoria the DOT has yet to change the signs. I guess they need the money for the bike lanes that seem to have unlimited resources. (The second day on the signs are the street cleaning days.) If the DOT can’t afford new signs, they could at least cover the incorrect information.

DOT: Do as I say, not as I do.

Last post today on the DOT and its short-sighted effects on NYC streets. This shows an oil delivery truck in the bike lane where Skillman Avenue has been reduced to a single through lane. The driver had no option other than pull up between the row of parked cars and the bike lane. Had he parked in the through lane for the fifteen or twenty minutes it takes to deliver the oil, he would have backed traffic up past PS11, with horns beeping. At 8:00 am.

You can thank Jimmy No Brainer for this stunt - as he pateintly waits on the sidelines for a new gig likely from the same crowd that did this to his community (which he graciously allowed them to do)

One favorite is a 'play street' that is partically blocked for kids to play. Its at the edge of Sunnyide in an indutrial area and yes, have never seen kids play there. Everone is forced to go into the next lane to get around the signs.

What a nitwit.

Rod Sterling couldn't even write a script like this for Twilight zone. Everything that is happening has been very carefully planned, all by design . All of this is being done on purpose. Sheeple better get ready to pay $9+ per gallon of gas. And make sure to tell every Dem voter you encounter that they voted for this and are partly to blame. Make them feel the shame they deserve.

When the NYC Sheeple keep voting for these demented Marxist clowns this is what you get!
Prove Me Wrong TA Bike Nut Commies...

These bike lanes are the dumbest, most dangerous things ever. Most don't even go continuously to get you anywhere.

Let me get this straight, they want to wall off the disastrous barely-used bike lanes that have already driven several Forest Hills stores out of business and have turned traffic into an utter nightmare - and those lanes DON'T EVEN GO ALL THE WAY INTO MANHATTAN?!?
Is this whole farce actually about destroying central Queens?

President squishy pants will make things worst !
Resident Burden and his Klan banned Ruskie oil imports, this is what orange man bad was talking about, higher gas prices. Everyone stay home now & stop driving to slow the demand.

Anon above: This is not about destroying Central Queens. This is about destroying the whole city. And it's all intentional.

The posts and comments on this blog lately could easily be misconstrued as a satirical take on small-minded, shaking their fists at the clouds, Queens knuckleheads.
Keep up the great work. /S
Our highways and streets are choked with traffic everywhere. Anyone blaming that on a few bike lanes or bus lanes is out of tune with reality.

Now we're complaining about things that didn't even happen?

The Transportation Alternatives Communist Cult Brainwashing Group must be paying off the Department of Transportation and the City Council Members a lot of money in donations and kickbacks to get what they want.

Destroying the city and streets one block at time and making traffic congestion worst every single day for their useless, shitty bike lanes.

Transportation Alternatives: the more people we knock down and run over and leave to die, the more money we have to pay the corrupt and greedy politicians to get what we want.

At first thought yes. Going a bit deeper, Great Reset, Build Back Better on display, brought to us by globalist overlords like Klaus Schwab and WEF.

Will get really bumpy, really soon with $5 gallon/gas and the controlled demolition of our economy.

We must bring back 2x/week alternate side parking in Manhattan.

You guys are such racists. Think of all the masses that can be using this bike lane. Cars are for rich people. Cars are racists. We need to eliminate cars. Bike lanes should be everywhere. everywhere.
Bike lanes to the moon!!!

That truck should have parked in the traffic lane. No need for cars on Skillman Ave.

Who plans and then designs and then implements these going nowhere inanities? This bike path just ends abruptly and across the Boulevard begins out of nowhere.

Urban decay 2022 edition! How many more waves of the middle class can the city afford to lose?

Who benefits from destroying the City? It doesn't make anyone richer or more powerful.

Doesn't that crowd want us to all pack into cities so that the countryside can be reserved for the environment? Destroying NYC seems to be the very opposite of what they want to accomplish.

Don't need bikes or lanes at that location, you have the 7 train that goes all the way down Queens Blvd and all the way across Manhattan every 4 minutes. Its faster then an Olympian could pedal.
If people cant afford MTA fare they shouldn't be living in this city.
They need move, these bikes and bike lanes are the biggest pain in the ass in the city aside crime & homeless.

My truck insurance is soaring from all the uninsured bike people getting squished & mangled in crashes. Bike drivers on public streets need to have insurance for NOT IF BUT WHEN their number is up.
Non automobile owners do not understand personal injury insurance reasons costs
New York is a no fault insurance state, bikes need to be in that liability pool (at least make the personal injury component of insurance mandatory for the crazy bike people) because they cause (and have) the highest personal injury costs and lawsuits when they are in accidents.
That's more then fare for everybody on wheels

Again, cant afford it?
Then take your death whish ass off the roadway or out of New York.
Bike people riding on Queens Blvd, LIE and BQE is the 3 most insane things I heard of this year. This is not the wide open desert or some shitty little village in Europe

Do tell. Why is NYC a UN designated Smart City? With the globalist technocrats circling like vultures?

Do you have any idea how much it cost to do wireless meter reading?
Where did billions go in various scams throughout the years?
Actually were are all the tax monies going?
Ever seen an accounting?

@Doesn't that crowd want us to all pack into cities so that the countryside can be reserved for the environment? Destroying NYC seems to be the very opposite of what they want to accomplish.

You really think they give a crap about you and the rest of the serfs?
Why would anybody release a genetic bio-weapon under the disguise of a vaccine with 1291 side effects?
Unless you were born today, tell us the difference of NYC 2017 vs NYC 2022. What does it look like to you?

Arguing with a democrat is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are the bird will knock over the pieces, shit all over the board then strut around thinking he won.
