Teenagers crash into car on Cooper Ave.

CBS New York

This is some shitty ass reporting. Not one mention of the moped rider being too young to be riding a motorized vehicle, if that moped was licensed and registered or if he ran the red light. This is the type of less than half-assed journalism and fabricated agenda narrative you get from streetsblog

Did the Moped driver have a license and insurance ?
Who is going to pay for the medical treatment ?
That's right you and me...

@"Not one mention of the moped rider being too young to be"

What is the correct age to drive a moped, anyway? The driver of this pickup truck in Jackson Heights was 16, according to the Sunnyside Post. 16-year-old murders 19-year-old with a Pickup Truck. But he must be a "Real Merican", because he's driving a pickup truck.

Hey, how old was the car driver? Did he/she/it/whatever have a license or insurance?
Why did the car turn onto the crosswalk on the wrong side of the road? Looking at the video, the car is turning left way too soon. It clobbered the motorcycle on the crosswalk, not in the middle of the junction. Had a few beers too many?

The commentary didn't say who had the green light? But even if the moped didn't have the green light, they weren't in the junction at the time of the collision.

“People take their cars and speed race up and down this street,” resident Daniel Gonzalez said.". Maybe not the case in this instance, but it says it all about car totalitarians in NY.

How much do you want to bet that the scooter/moped driver and passenger will sue the driver of the car?
Several years ago a bicycle rider went through a red light and crashed into my car. My insurance company had to pay for his medical bills and the guy sued me and lost.
I sued him for the damages to my auto and won but got nothing since he was an illegal with no funds. The court wouldn't even allow the INS to put him into custody.

Thank goodness the peaceful scooter driver didn't get the opportunity to run down a pedestrian. This is what happens when communists run your city and defund the NYPD. Live with it New Yorkers.

Driving a moped at 15? Was he licensed and insured? Who had the right of way? Horrible reporting, although not surprising.

Funny how you focus on license and insurance and ignore that the way that idiot driver took that turn.
License and insurance didn't do squat to prevent that dangerous and idiotic driving.

Why does that video have those 2 arrows and white circle obscuring the pedestrian signal? What are they trying to hide, maybe the car ran the red light?
Either way, the car has no business making a turn like from the wrong side of a 2 way street.

I am young, a repetitive criminal and I can do what I want. It is unlikely anything bad will happen to me, especially riding a moped without any insurance, registration, or license.

I go through plenty of red lights, and I never stop at stop signs. Drivers and pedestrians should stop for me.

The law, what law? The rules of the road do not apply to me.
If caught, I will most likely be given a ticket and be released back onto the streets, free to ride more mopeds, and electric bikes and break every single traffic law there is.

Lawlessness in NYC is GREAT!!! I know I will never be held accountable for my actions.
Thank you WOKE Politicians!!!

Moped drivers need licenses & plates? That’s news to me- I see so many without plates, electric bicycles & Vespa like scooters on the sidewalks. A reason to never get food delivered. Don’t want to financially support illegal aliens either.

Observe, the westbound van stopping for the red light

But he passed his driving test(maybe). He drove around an empty street and parked a car in a spot with yards to spare. He's mastered the fine art of motoring, according to car totalitarians. He can drive on any highway or expressway in a supersized tank with such great qualifications.

Nah, on display deBozo, your Bolshevik boss, providing illegals, smuggled into the city after midnight from the southern border, with no question asked driver licenses.
Then this happens and you are complaining about cars that are bigger then your little tricycle. Tough luck pal. The jerk who did this is as much unlicensed as you are.
Don't be jealous that he has a bigger toy. Ask your bosses to put you in the SUV department at the TA headquarters.

There are a lot of idiots, dangerous operators riding their e-bikes, electric mopeds throughout this city who go through red lights, stop signs, and above the speed limit. But you can't complain because you will be labeled a racist and biased against illegal immigrants who don't speak English.

From the NY Post, June 12, 2021:

E-bikes under fire as accidents, fatalities climb in NYC
By Dean Balsamini
June 12, 2021
https://nypost.com/2021/06/12/e-bikes-under-fire-as-accidents-fatalities-climb-in-nyc/

a speeding e-biker mowed down a 67-year-old East Village photographer on Ninth Avenue and West 39th Street in Midtown around 4 p.m. Unlike Chung, she lived to tell her story.

“The person didn’t stop. He just kept going. He knocked me down, I fell so fast it was unbelievable,” the shell-shocked shutterbug told The Post. The injured woman — who requested anonymity — suffered a fractured left hip and required surgery and a titanium rod was placed from her hip to her knee. She spent five days in Lenox Hill Hospital and was out of work for six weeks. The victim believes the hit-and-run e-biker was a deliveryman.

“They’re all over and they’re going the wrong way and they’re going fast and they don’t stop at the lights. They don’t care. They will hit you if you are in their way,” the photographer fumed. “The city has to regulate this because it’s so out of control.”

Queens real estate broker Kelly Killian was walking in Astoria on May 28 when she was struck by a deliveryman riding an e-bike around 8:30 p.m., police said. The 54-year-old woman was cut down at the corner of 21st Avenue and 31st Street, just around the block from where she lived, the Astoria Post reported. She later died from her injuries.

Heck, I wanted to see the impact! You notice how the reporter who introduces the story emotes such heart warming concern. Right! Who ran the light. Wanna guess? More Bike Lanes, NYC.

Some chucklehead said this:

The driver of the car/suv was a middle aged individual who was licensed, registered, insured and had passed all the tests required of a driver in New York State. Which is hell of a lot more than can be said of the "Driver" of the scooter

You mean, he drove around an empty block and parked a car. Some qualification.

If the driver had taken a turn like they did on the video during their road test, it would have been an instant fail. Qualified my foot.
