Illegal construction leaves family homeless

From CBS:

A rally was held Tuesday in support of tenants at a Brooklyn building – one in particular who has been forced to live in a shelter due to illegal construction by the landlord.

As WCBS 880’s John Metaxas reported, some 50 protesters gathered in front of Brooklyn Housing Court in support of Najary Torres and her family.

The Mexican immigrant told a tale of bewildering governmental apathy. She has been forced to live in a city shelter with her husband and three young daughters for the last two and a half years, after the city forced her out of her apartment in the building at 94 Franklin Ave. in North Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

The vacate order came after her landlord built an illegal synagogue in the backyard , blocking access and creating an unsafe condition.

"Decent people shouldn't live here, they'd be better off someplace else." Jack Napier(Jack Nicholson)in Batman 1989
That line Jack Nicholson uttered in the 1989 Batman film when talking about Gotham applies perfectly well to the current state of New York City. Even back then with Ed Koch, there were plenty of good areas in the city of New York that weren't congested with shitty malls and overpriced condos. Your neighbors actually knew who you were and weren't oblivious and ignored you if you passed by them. Modern day NYC sucks.
Met a hipster from the Midwest several years ago, and she went back home after a year in NYC. I wish more of them could realize this city is the biggest pyramid scheme in America, it would reduce the congestion and the ever rising cost of living in this city.

>backyard
>blocking access

Pick one.

But this is bewildering. This backyard building is such a huge issue that the City evacuated the building; but not a big enough issue that the City would order it demolished?

So for 2 1/2 years you do nothing but sit in a shelter with your children and wait for the government to get you a new home? You don't decide to move/relocate or hunt on your own for a new place to live...? Who are these people?

They, arrogant, entitled invaders, are waiting for the section 8 subsidy or some fabulous new subsidized apartment. They will continue having children for the 2 1/2 years to increase the government benefits as they vend churros and other crap on the sidewalks and the subway. All cash, they pay no taxes. And Daddy works off the books doing construction.

Wouldn't they be a lot happier in Mexico? I know many many people who have been in housing court. No one held a rally for them as they were made homeless.

What is wrong with this picture?

To the poster who wrote the above comments in caps: No, myself or my family would rent another place to live. We would not wait for the government or a caseworker ti hand us the money and the means to live in a better place.

There is no Displaced American Resettlement Agencies like the ones they have for the invaders.
