Shady Whitestone spa shut down

From the Queens Tribune:

A Whitestone spa that had sparked concerns among neighbors who suspected it was a front for illicit activity has shut down.

The spa was set up in the basement of a two-story house at 150-53 14th Rd. For months, its only designation that it was a business was a flashing “open” sign. In its final few weeks, there was a sign in the driveway advertising its business as “Kiki Spa.”

Neighbors who spoke to the Queens Tribune feared that the spa was a front for illegal sexual activity, citing a large number of men entering the building at odd hours, the lack of signage, reports of lingerie in the backyard and highly explicit ads that demanded “no law enforcement” posted on Backpage.com.

The Department of Buildings issued two violations for the spa on Oct. 5, claiming that it was operating illegally without permission from the city’s Board of Standards and Appeals. The violations are now listed as “resolved,” and compliance with the law was first noted on Oct. 26. A DOB spokesman said that compliance was noted after the spa was removed.

How did this shitty looking small apartment building get built to begin with without one single blade of grass. I mean what happened to that law that was put into effect years ago. NYC encourages this kind of bullshit.

These are just so ridiculous. More crackdowns against these "spas" and "massage parlors" are needed!

The "happy ending" spas are all over the place. One down. Many more to go.
Hey, Vallone WTF are you doing about the Broadway LORR station area's red light district? All we've heard from your lying mouth is that this is a tough issue. Lazy ass phony!

Rule number 1: never run any sex business in a residential area.

Who cares, about a couple of whores.
How about going after those Asian birthing houses and "host parent homes" flooding 25, 30, 40 kids per household into our schools. Raw festering stinky garbage piled 6 feet high outside, sewers & septic systems at capacity.
All FAR more numerous damaging and expensive problems then some politician or DOT worker getting a "rub" after a hard days work.

Sounds like a happy ending for the neighborhood.

People are being paid to look the other way... Vallone isn't doing much of anything about anything... his standard response to anything is "It's a tough issue" you folks in the district elected him...now you have four years of him doing nothing and preparing for his next move (my guess is borough president, public advocate or Albany)

Let's just decriminalize prostitution. People should be able to be legal sex workers. All over Europe , New Zealand....etc, and not here? Ridiculous.

People should be able to have sex for money if they want.

When the spas get to Bay Terrace, Vallone will do something. He could care less about 162nd Street, the prostitution capital of NYC. What exactly is "tough" about this issue? 45 massage spas near the Broadway LIRR open till 4 AM. Men with out-of-state plates driving around looking for drugs/sex/booze. What's tough about this obviously illicit activity? Where is there any controversy about this? The old Times Square got shut down and there wasn't anything "tough" or "controversial" about doing so.

Avella had a presser about 162nd street, and got numerous places shut down. Avella leaves his district all the time. Why can't Vallone?
