An all-too-familiar problem

Hi QC,

I recently attended the Community Council meeting at the 105th precinct. I expressed my concerns about an illegal businesses being run out of a residential home on 107-16 Springfield Blvd in Queens Village. These individuals are fixing cars at all hours of the day right on Springfield blvd. In the process, they are dumping oil all over the street and sidewalks, and discarding oil down the sewer drains which eventually drains into Jamaica Bay. They have a tractor trailer parked in the driveway, and a full blown junkyard in the backyard! A couple residents at the meeting expressed concerns about this place as well, since it's bringing down the quality of life in our neighborhood and devaluing our homes. The community affairs officer told me that they'll be paying them a visit, and she'll contact the DEP. I also contacted the NYS DEC Police twice and they were very helpful. I also filed 311 complaints with the DSNY and DOB, for the messy conditions, illegal parking of the tractor trailer, and of course the junkyard in the back. I just want to show your readers some of the ghetto nonsense that we deal with in SE Qns on a daily basis. Thanks.

The dirty southeast continues to thrive, in the negative sense. If these guys wanna be Nascar mechanics and fix and soup up cars in the open, they should take their asses to Florida.

That trailer must have auto parts and such stored in it. Amazing to see one parked in a residential driveway! Sorry but I gotta laugh.

Assemblyman Clyde Vanel office is a half mile up at 97-01 Springfield Blvd. Gee, I wonder if they change his oil for him.

But this young ambitious entrepreneur is a great mechanic, his pricing is the lowest one can find...

Nothing to see here, just keep moving...

If the local cops are ignoring it, they must be on the take.

"If the local cops are ignoring it, they must be on the take." I'm the individual who reported this to QC, and I would like to thank them for sharing some SE Qns Crap with you fellow crappers. Despite all the 311 complaints and going to the 105th Community Council meeting, it's still business as usual at 107-16 Springfield Blvd. Actually, last Tuesday they were fixing 3 cars out on Springfield Blvd and a patrol car non chalantly drove on by them. Yeah, that was a sinking feeling watching the police officers drive by and not writing them a summons. I shouldn't expect anything less, I guess.

I doubt they are on the take. More like the Ferguson effect.

We must all learn to be more sensitive to the diversity of our city. We should bring some of this to Bayside and Whitestone. Why complain learn to live and embrace it !

While I blame the folks that live in areas like Jamaica & SE Queens, the powers that be are even more to blame for NEVER taking action to immediately stop shit like this. And when you don't stop shit like this or issue summons, etc, then more and more people know they can get away with this shit and hence, Ghetto Greater Jamaica Area is born and then becomes so out of control.

Amazing, but then not really.

Joe, they cannot take action. That would be racist.
