Cars with placards park wherever, whenever

From CBS 2:

Mayor Bill de Blasio’s crackdown on rampant parking permit abuse by city officials is so far a no-go.

As CBS2 Political Reporter Marcia Kramer found, some school personnel are still ignoring the rules.

CBS2 found a mountain of abuses Friday, after Mayor Bill de Blasio gave school officials 50,000 new permits and then tried to deal with the blowback by ordering the NYPD to ticket and tow the violators.

Multiple drivers with placards were spotted parking in no standing zones, and in zones where signs read, “no parking anytime.”

The Blaz: "It's against the rules."

Rules. Schmules.

It's also against the rules for people to be in my country illegally. Will they be "towed away" as well?

"told of Marcia's findings, the NYPD said they're still in the process of implementing the new enforcement procedures."

It has always been illegal to park on the sidewalks or to misuse the placards and park in prohibited areas. Why is enforcement of basic rules a new concept??

The city will not survive four more years of this clueless idiot.

Re: that traffic cop attempting to oppress the divine Miss K

Where does that schmuck think he's in, Turkey? These stupid tools better realize that this is a free country and people are right to report, record, film and pretty much witness anything blatantly unjustified or illegal. (which is why that guy and his cohort slunk away)

De Faustio's New York has to be obliterated. Starting with HIM

Typical Liberal. Sorry, Progressive.

Create a problem. Pretend you didn't. Come up with idiotic solution to the problem.

Hey Dumbo, how about you take back every parking permit, all 50K?

Upon the Comrade Mayor's reelection, all of these issues will be resolved.

I am just curious how much the mayor will owe after the election.

You must realize that this is but a minimal down payment for supporting him...

Thanks to DeBOZO extending sidewalks and taking out tons of parking spaces in sunnyside where else are people going to park. this bike lane crap has got to stop, some of us need a car to get to work where its odd hours or nowhere near public transportation. and cannot afford another $150-200 for an off street parking spot

To my friend and scholar georgetheatheist: The only creature that needs to be towed away and scrapped is dumb Blasio himself, where he will hopefully (and finally!), fade away into oblivion where he rightfully belongs with all of the 'OTHER' dumbass libtard, intolerant extremists of epic fail.

Remember (again): Impeachment is not a legal process——it's a political process, and it's LONG OVERDUE!

I'm a teacher and I agree that the abuses must end. Two anecdotes:

1. My Astoria school has 6 designated parking spots. Parking anywhere else around the school will lead to a guaranteed ticket.

2. I don't even try to park in the designated parking spots because parents' cars always double-park and trap me when I need to leave.

I'm not even going to ask for a placard.

About eight or nine years ago I had a crappy minimum wage gig in the Chambers Street/Broadway area. I was required to show up at their Fulton Street office at 4:30 am and was given a street grid. My job was to walk around these streets in an S pattern and note vehicles with City placards, which agency issued them and any identifying numbers or marks. I carried a clipboard. Amazing how many shop owners handed me a free water, soda, coffee or other culinary treats assuming that I was from The City.

I was a subcontractor of a subcontractor for NYC DOT. My supervisors where engineers from Pakistan, the Philippines or some other third world country - God Bless America :(

I understood that this data was going to be used to stop parking in the area from City Hall extending down to Hudson Street. Now I see all the construction and I want to know how do I make a living in my own country?

The idiot who was the then DOT commissioner is the one responsible for the pedestrian plazas and Shitty Bike atrocities.

Amazing! Nothing has changed since we "escaped" to sunny Florida ten years ago! We could be talking about Bob Wagner or John Lindsay instead of DeBlasio. Let's face it: Liberals own NYC and treat it as their "honeypot". Bring back somebody like Rudy and you'd see a big change. Oh yeah, I forgot to give dishonorable mention to old Abe(Beame)!

Of all the things Mayor Zero Vision has done to get outraged over, why this? Every car with a placard parking in an "illegal" spot is one less car parked in a spot the rest of us can use.

If you want to get outraged about anything, get outraged over how many legal parking spots have been removed over the last few years. Parking is getting near impossible in my neighborhood now that just about every corner is no-parking - the only exceptions being the few corners where they actually need to ban parking.

>I understood that this data was going to be used to stop parking in the area from City Hall extending down to Hudson Street.

I can believe it. A few months ago, I drove down to the Wall St. area in midday for the first time in a decade. There wasn't a single legal parking spot to be found - everything had either become non-parking or parking for some special agency either. I spent more time driving around trying to find parking then I spent driving through midday traffic to get there.
