Troopers giving tickets out left and right

From NY1:

We've obtained the numbers, and they are astounding. State troopers write an average of 50 tickets a year in the city. But already this year, they've written more than 3,000 tickets.

Police who work for the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority — part of the MTA — a state agency, have written another 2,200 tickets since January 1.

Many of the tickets are for toll evasion, but drivers complain they are also being cited for violations like broken tail lights.

The ticket blitz follows Governor Cuomo's said state troopers would be posted at TBTA bridges and tunnels to help with the transition to cashless tolls, and to help the city with counterterrorism efforts.

What are people who don't have a credit card or checking account supposed to do? They shouldn't be penalized . There should still be one cash lane open to avoid this AND so that tag holders don't get stuck behind a tagless driver . Another poorly laid out plan by Cuomo the dunce. Look what he has created at LaGuardia airport now. And let's not forget what he did to our Nation while he was head of HUD.

The police state must find ways to support itself!

Why must every government agency have it's own police enforcement division?

Another way of fleeing and wasting the taxpayers' moneys...

Toll evasion is a problem and for minor issues like a broken tail light well just fix it. Yes they are out there and yes the Governor was right to send them in. We were all warned this would happen. Just fix the problem and there won't be a problem. Sometimes people look for trouble and then claim they were targeted.

Toll evasion wouldn't be a problem if there wasn't such a dependency on automation. If there were actual people taking tolls like the great old days, people wouldn't be tempted to try to avoid paying, especially by the worst scofflaws. It probably wouldn't cost the state tons of revenue if they did not cut toll taker jobs.

But despite the report, this is another pathetic chapter in the ongoing feud by demohacks, Mario's son and Mayor Big Slow. It's like Andy is yet trying to undermine De faustio's enforcement of Vision zero. And the citizens have to pay for it.

The plan to scan the license plate and mail a bill.

Who owns a car, pays for car insurance and yet doesn't have a checking account? Who are these people? Do they also not have electricity?

Anon #1, everyone just drives through. If you don't have an ezpass they mail you a bill for the toll. You can also have an ezpass and fund it with money orders. Quit whining about non-existent problems.

I would really like to see texting and driving enforced. Not a car trip goes by without seeing some D Bag texting and driving. Get some undercover cars, it is so easy to spot.

Anon 1 - if you are tagless, they send the owner of the car the bill for the toll, and you mail it in. The toll for the tagless is the SAME as the current cash toll. AKA No one gets stuck behind a tagless vehicle. There will be no gates, no stopping, you go through at the speed limit. They have been doing it on the Henry Hudson Bridge for a couple of years now

This is all more BULLSHIT from a BULLSHIT Governor. Albany politics bore him so he focuses his efforts on NYC. If this city interests him so much why didn't he run against Diblasio in 2014? Too late now Guv !!

This is a money grab, nothing more, nothing less. It's not about tolls or easy pass or terrorism. It is a fucking money grab.

Recently saw a Trooper sitting in the bushes of the bird sanctuary between Broad Channel and Howard Beach. Not really by a bridge. Just making more money for the assholes who torture our daily lives.

You people complain when police do nothing, then you complain when the police do police work. What the f*$k do you people want?

If those who do not have a credit card or a banking account there is money orders. Yet I find it hard to believe people with out a bank account especially with all this direct deposit...income taxes, unemployment so on.
Who knows there could a few with out it but ask yourself how do they pay their bills and looks like everyone "has" a cellphone.
Just like anon said people look for trouble and first thing they say they were targeted.
2017 people not 1940

What are state troopers doing within our city's borders? This is the NYPD's bailiwick.

Anonymous said...

Fuck them, fuck the asshole NYC and NYS politicians. Scumbags.

Enforcement is a necessity stop wining about tickets and drive more responsible.

drive more responsible.

You must be a total idiot. The major stuff happens when cars go flying, people are run down when no a single cop is around. This shit in the article is the petty stuff that leads nowhere. Money grab, tax collection in the form of fines.
I feel bad for the cops and troopers in a way, they are now also TAX collectors for the scumbag, proressiv(ely insane), commie politicians. Is this the America you remember or some fucking banana republic with some insane puppet dictator like DeBozo and Cuomo? Yeah the plastic bags must be really dangerous, lets tax them.
They need morons like you to sell their lies. Wake up buddy.

Credit cards shouldn't cost you anything if you pay them each month, you can even get 1-1.5% cash back.

>who gets screwed? The ordinary citizen thts who...-

The ordinary citizen who can't be bothered to follow the law, who is operating broken equipment or stealing from the rest of the city by skimping on tolls? Somehow I don't care much for criminals who see fit to steal from me. We got plenty of cops to chase down those criminals.

You have no clue what you are talking about.

Now for the better question, where is all the money going that is being collected?
Tolls, taxes, fines, etc.
Where is the accounting stupid?

For the cops to go after actual criminals, instead of burdening us with more tickets and fines when the city is already unlivably expensive.
