First responders on bikes at FMCP

London EMT bike
From DNA Info:

The EMTs from the Corona Community Ambulance Corps know Flushing Meadows-Corona Park like the back of their hands.

Starting this summer, his group will begin patrolling with the help of "ambulance bikes" — a supercharged vehicle he's dreamed of since taking over the volunteer group in 2014.

Perna said the bikes — which were made possible thanks to $8,000 in funds he received from Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras-Copeland — will make his staff more mobile and able to reach more people quickly, especially in the busy summer.

Starting this summer his team will have four bikes out in the park. The bikes will be equipped with oxygen, a defibrillator and other medical items to help teams of EMS workers assist patients wherever they are in the park, Perna said.

Two bikes will go out at a time, and will have an ambulance nearby as backup.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm curious to see how Queens politicians will manage eff it up.

The muggers will steal those bikes too.

Love the idea but how about more cops or PEP to patrol the park during the heavy summer season.

Why don't they customize golf carts for emergency services.

That bike looks like something out of Baywatch-

I'll be ready (I'll be ready)
Never you fear (never don't you fear)
I'll Be ready
Whenever and always I'll always be there...

Funny thing is there will be an EMT vehicle near, so this unit is pointless.

Another case of Green Kills.

If speed is the issue a couple of over the counter 150 cc trail bikes is what you want. The could carry more gear as well as get their faster.

Next step will be NYPD riding bikes to respond to a shooting.

This green stuff has to stop, there is no reason for it.

Since everything is budgeted in the millions or hundreds of thousands you wonder which well connected hack pocketed the money.

Which can get to an emergency the fastest: a car or a bike? Case closed.

Golf carts?
Bikes are cheaper.
A "Mexican Mercedes" as they're known, are fast and more maneuverable too.

More tax dollars to cover illegal alians health care cost.

There are areas in this park that are not easily reachable by large vehicles like an ambulance. A bicycle is much quicker at arriving to a scene and stabilizing a patien. The US is way behind when it comes to immediate urgent care. In Israel and in Europe they use motorcycles, why not here ???

Agreed!
There are a lot of fight and stabbing victims that require fast attention in the park. Then you have those drug overdoses.
Muy bueno!
