David Weprin staying put

From the Observer:

Assemblyman David Weprin announced tonight he will not run for his brother’s soon to be vacant City Council seat, ending days of speculation and hand-wringing among some Queens Democratic insiders.

Mr. Weprin told supporters at a fundraiser in Manhattan that he had weighed the merits of serving in the Council and Assembly and decided, in light of his recent promotion to a leadership position in the State Legislature, that he would remain in Albany.

“This year I became part of the leadership in the Assembly. I was appointed by Speaker Carl Heastie as secretary to the Democratic Conference,” Mr. Weprin said, adding that he was also appointed to a post “near and dear” to his heart, an Assembly task force on people with disabilities.

“I’ve decided that I plan on running for re-election to the Assembly,” he continued. “I’ve enjoyed what I’ve accomplished so far in the Assembly. I think I have a lot more to do. I’ve developed a lot of seniority in a short time–a lot of people have left.”

He added that he thinks he has “a big future ahead in the State Assembly.”

At least he's got a better hairpiece than brother Mark.
Less brains under kit , though. Dave is definitely the dumber of the Weprin boys.

Or, at least a loooooooong future ahead in Albany - no term limits.

Way up in the wilds of Albany, an incompetent or crooked , former city council member, can hide out for years.
Term limits for the Assembly and Senate!

And a looong sigh of relief was heard through that council district.

But, alas, that relief was to be short-lived. Who will run for this position?

Bob Friedrich, who never met a race he couldn't win, yet would come up with a "can't-beat-the-dynasty/poor voter turnout/I-guess-my-coop-residents-really-won't-come-out-to-support-me-even-though-I-claim-to-represent-them/ excuse. or Joe Concannon, who has recently promised he isn't running for anything, but is still likely to throw his hat into the ring, mainly because there are still a few people outside his civic area that don't know his reputation?

Yikes. It's scary, I tell ya!!

Bob Friedrich will run AGAIN and lose again. Guy isn't smart enough to try and be a king maker in a small race like this.

Bob would make a good Council member. I hope he runs and wins.
Our communities need a representative who supports them.

Weprin was more concerned about introducing legislation supporting youth hostels.
