Vacant homes just left that way

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

Our totally useless batch of local Jamaica leaders, who seem to busy being corrupt, trying to scam some money, doing something underhanded (Assemblymember William Scarborough, one of the latest) seem to never properly address the important quality of life issues that affect the majority of Jamaica residents. They seem to skirt these types of issues constantly to play act a homeless person (Councilman Ruben Wills), waste time changing the name of streets (the horrible crime ridden South Road to Tuskegee Airman Way) or a million other lightweight bullshit that has no bearing what-so-ever on quality of life issues in our community. They just refuse to address these issues, focus on them and come up with permanent solutions. Issues they never address or say anything about except if a reporter sticks a microphone in their face and they have to say something. Problems which are major quality of life issues that have been going on for a long time in our community. I mean if none of you are going to address these issues, what is the point of even having you in office, why waste our tax payers dollars if you are not going to better the community.

It’s a quandary and the politicians know it. Even if you sent the army and spent 500 million dollars on contractors the animals that inhabit in that hood would reinstate it back to a cesspit in months if not weeks.
Like wild boars wallowing in mud they like it that way and can not be domesticated!!
The inhabitants and slumlords would have to be eradicated and removed first but that would cause massive screaming of “racism” “discrimination” and loss of democrat votes. No Queens politician would go near a can of worms like that. Aside the loss of votes the MS13 and assorted black and Latino gangs would murder their family’s.
Cleanup of Jamaica will never happen unless you nuke it first

Gee, so happy that you are not a racist.

That photo says it all. A damn shame. There are residents who do care in pockets of Jamaica, but their work goes unrecognized and is seen by others, including elected officials, as being a waste of time. So where is the incentive?

Joe Moretti said...

Ned, you are just so full of shit not too mention making very racist comments, but you as everyone else are entitled to your opinion (but your comment of slumlords is correct, but they exist all over, including in Manhattan).

But I even wonder if you even live in the area of Jamaica to even be able to make such a statement. I don't live in the Bronx and don't know a huge amount about it firsthand, so I could not really make a statement about the Bronx. While Jamaica has it's fair share of low-life folks, especially South Jamaica and bad, useless local elected officials, many folks here are middle to upper middle class who own their homes, work good jobs and are upstanding citizens, who would love to see their community cleaned up instead of being ignored by pretty much everyone.

But just like the "Broken Window Theory", you leave a little shit looking like shit", then you get more shit, the more shit you get, then you get the criminal activity and chaos ensues.

There is no can of worms, you speak of, our elected leaders are choosing not to do their jobs period. With these vacant buildings and houses, you can at least make sure that the building is secured, so no one can get inside it and it is safe. Of course the photo on Queens Crap shows a house damaged because DOB did not keep an eye on this as the owner/developer did whatever they wanted, as DOB (one of the most corrupt NYC agencies)do with most things, but it is still no excuse to leave vacant homes easily accessible.

Your gang bullshit about murdering families is just that total bullshit. It is people like you who do not even live in an area, know little about it, but yet seem to know everything about it and of course most of it is bullshit.

Sure a community is only as good a the people in the community, but the bottom line if you leadership is poor, it does not matter who makes up your community, the community is going to suffer from inept leadership, which is what has been happening in Jamaica for too long.

Ned, while speaking ever so bluntly, has a good point though.
You can sink millions into these areas, upgrade everything from housing to parks and have it all cleaned up, and within a month it will be returned to its original state.

It just because of the culture and mentality of the people that are living in the area, where behavior like littering, dumping, and destroying everything is ok, maybe even celebrated. The few who try to change that behavior and clean and fix the place are the "crazy" ones, who are seen as the community complainers.

You have to change that culture and make people have pride in their community, which is next to impossible not just in Jamaica but in the city as a whole.

Queens in 3 steps.

1. lowlifes that need Democratic programs and chase out the good people are encourged to move into the borough.

2. most people have no idea how to act around politicians and act like bit players in the court of some petty kingdom - bowing and scraping and losing all self respect every time one of our electeds walks into a room

3, the electeds themselves, not very bright and owing their position over us because of simple minded loyalty and the stupidity of the electorate.

I really do not see any change for a long time - indeed entire communities need to turn over and a different cohort of people move in - something that will not happen in our life time.

Of course, by then, the borough as we know it will be completely obliterated.

I wish the people in Jamaica (besides Joe and his team) would start caring about the way Jamaica looks. Not all houses in Jamaica look run down (I have a friend who lives there) but there's not enough people in Jamaica who actually care. Jamaica can be so much more then what it is. The people need to start taking care of the communities they live in. I know for a fact that the black and Indian people can definitely turn that community around if they just started caring more.

I know Jamaica distinctly Mr.Joe. I must drive through it to see my ailing uncle in the estates then go "further south" to shop for cut-rate work clothes, liquor and sneakers. BTW I am not some bigoted racist from Mississippi. I have both good black and Spanish speaking friends and some older Jewish ones who are every funny and agree with me on everything. –If I only posed what they say here OH VEY !!!! I judge people by actions and conduct not race shame on you !! Are you the angry Italian guy that was on TV about the garbage last year ? I honestly like your effort and don't blame you for being angry however at some point you must realize your democrats will get you nothing but talk and no action. Your on your own and must do it yourself !!

A good deal of this so-called "racist" talk is nothing but astute sociological commentary - studied right now by "academics" in the University. Joe and Ned are "in the field".

Joe Moretti said...

Never said you were a bigoted racist Ned, something that I have been called many times, I just said your comment was racist. But I disagree that you should just allow areas to continue to go downhill. How are you to take pride in an area when that is all the area has been for some time. Sure there are always going to be people or certain groups of people who just fuck shit up (and who the hell wants them in their community anyway, but they are going to end up somewhere), but to let areas just continue to collapse seems absurd. Isn't that the same type of thinking behind Detroit.

Some people say, well it is only one block, then it becomes two, three and then the whole community, then the next community, it becomes a cancer and becomes out of control as what happened in Jamaica due to poor leadership, lack of enforcement and ignoring shit. If from the get go, Jamaica stopped this shit dead in it's tracks, the people who helped to make it a mess, would have never been able to afford to come into the area to begin with.

Somewhere along the lines you have to draw a line in the sand and say enough.

From what I comprehend talking with some of the old timers still around (not books written by Canadians, liberals or University bullshit) the problem with Jamaica has it roots in the Johnson/Lindsay era. Take a look at civil rights laws and disastrous "Immigration act of 1965"

NYC mayor John Lindsay wanted the funds Johnson was making available to block bust segregation and create “diverse neighborhoods” Lindsay jumped at it "We will take them" Offering massive welfare and free services to poor people in the south and Caribbean. Like ringing a dinner bell to a swarm of locusts this was referred to as "Come and Get It" For Queens all these people coming for the welfare and free stuff would be dumped under J elevated line from Marcy Ave all the way to 168 street. The "Cancer" then spread overnight like wildfire when property values plummeted and the middle class bailed to long Island. That was Johnson and Lindsay’s strategy all along and diBlasio is no doubt going to do the same, some way.

Spot on, Ned. The Liberal's mantra: "Come and Get It" (Soup's on and everything else.)

Hard to believe that this house is on the market for a cool
$550thousand! Will comfortably fit 15-29 persons.

Politicians don't want to deal with Joe Moretti because he has a foul mouth. If he cleaned it up, perhaps Jamaica would be cleaner too.

That's right, George. Ned attains his knowledge about Jamaica by going "out in the field" to "shop for cut-rate work clothes, liquor and sneakers."

And why not ?
I do my own, sweeping, pruning, landscaping, stripping, painting, oil change etc and run through clothes like crazy. I work hard for a living !!!
You wont find me my ass in a beauticians chair receiving a pedicure like all these lazy metro sexual freaks, slobs and I been spotting lately.
When I’m done, I like to sit back and enjoy a glass or two of brandy.

_______________

Oh REALLY, then what was there excuse before I came to Jamaica (I have only been here 3 years). And one foul person's mouth, puts an entire community at risk, because they don't want to deal with me. They don't have to deal with me, they just need to do their job.

Your comment is one of the fucking dumbest asshole excuses I have heard. Must be some fucking elected leaders flunky.
