She's back!

From the Daily News:

The majestic statue that stands at the foot of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in Woodside was created to honor local soldiers who paid the ultimate price in World War I.

The female figure, sword in one hand and shield in the other, stands sentry over the tiny plaza in the neighborhood formerly known as Winfield.

But the monument itself — also known as “Victorious America” — has a storied history all its own, having survived several battles with out-of-control cars that left it broken and battered over the last few decades.

Just in time for Veterans Day, experts with the Park Department’s Citywide Monuments Conservation Program restored and fixed the statue and returned it to the plaza, which has been empty since the last accident a decade ago.

I am taking a moment to reflect on the significance of this day and thankful that I am so fortunate to live in such a wonderful country. America is a good and noble country. It is so only because of the willingness of others to step forward and sacrifice that it remains so.
Thank you to all our veterans. Thank you for your service to our country.

I also have the greatest respect and admiration for our veterans. Thank you to all who have served.

"having survived several battles with out-of-control cars that left it broken and battered over the last few decades."

We should be licensing these maniacs!

Whew....I'm ever so relieved!

For a minute I thought that ugly mega bronze effigy of Queen Catherine was returning to haunt the shores of the East River with her ass facing Queens.
