Casa di Como: What's with the single door in the double wide door frame?

One would think that his Italian heritage would have given him better taste than this over sized box of crap.

Anonymous said...

There's a difference between an Italian and a Guinea.

Anonymous said...

How many violations does this pile of crap have? This turd wants to make our laws, but doesn't think he has to obey them himself!

So far, all the video tells me is that this guy built a house. Is this the worse this politician has done. If so, he must be a saint. The House-Not my particular style, but everyone has a different taste. Video sounds like "swayed" amateur journalism at its best. If i could call it journalism. As far as the italian comments, sounds like we have some old school Italian-Need not apply mentality. As advanced a society as we are, we sure do seem to keep going backwards. If you don't like him, maybe the person behind the video should run for office?

Anonymous said...

Must be a reason for the single - probably issues with a door custom ordered?

Anonymous said...

When did his "Own Party" Say he was "Incompetent"
Amateur video and swayed to say the least

Anonymous said...

Don't care for the style, but it's his house. Do CARE that he didn't build it in compliance with the law. Building code applies to politicians too.

How did you miss the first 45 seconds of the video?

Why do people think that Italians have taste? Michelangelo and da Vinci are long dead.

Now the Italians build that orange shit all over northern Northern Flooshing & Whitestone.

I'm starting to think that the Bukharian embassies, uh mansions, in Forest Hills looks absolutely gorgeous in comparison to the Chinese and Italian crap littered all over my once pretty nabe.

Thanks for proving the point that this blog is anti-Italian. What wonderful nationality do you belong to. You couldnt shine our shoes you bum.

The double wide door frame is for when he gains even more weight and needs a double wide door.

(there - I said it first!)

The blog is anti-Italian? I don't think so. They supported Tony Avella and Joe Addabbo. Both wise choices. I have never seen anything derogatory written about Italians by the blog host. The commenters - well, there are people who have problems with every other nationality. So what do you expect? Get over it.

Anonymous said...

The host knows his crowd. He puts posts up that he knows will trigger these responses.

Queens Crapper said...

Do you seriously think I put this post up because I want people to write about Italians, and not about Anthony Como? I'm also part Italian, so go take that theory under Hell Gate Bridge and dump it there.

Anonymous said...

Let's see, the blog is about politics, and Como is a politician, but the host should avoid posting about Como because he is Italian and some people don't like them.

Brilliant logic.

Casa di Como: What's with the single door in the double wide door frame?

Why put the wording in Italian if it has nothing to do with his heritage?

Do you write in Gaelic when your attacking a person of Irish descent?

or how about when he puts vibrant and diverse next to any story where a non white commits a crime?

gimme a break. This host is full of hate 1/2 Italian or not.

Anonymous said...

Holy canoli, you Americans of Italian descent are a thin-skinned bunch! Man up already! My ethnic group has been relentlessly defamed with idiotic stereotypes and caricatures bearing no relation to reality by the swine that run hollywood for the past 70 years, but we're not crying like a bunch of pussies. A few cracks about tacky ethnic taste is hardly a reason to get your panties in a bunch...Especially when most of you cavones actually EMBRACE the mob stereotypes portrayed in the Godfather, the Sopranos, etc. Take the good with the bad.
As for Mr. Como, I went to law school with him and he is a nice fellow, although he was certainly no standout. He was a protege of Serph Maltese, which might be enough to turn off some voters. The issue of the violations for his house is worthy of concern. But if you are going to suggest that he is incompetent or corrupt, you really have to offer more than subtle innuendo and attacks on his woeful lack of domestic aesthetics. And yes, he has put on about 75 lbs since graduation, hope the trend doesn't continue.

Anonymous said...

It has nothing to do with being thin skinned its about right and wrong. When you have a clown generalizing about my nationality I have a right to get offeneded. I love this country and so did my grandfather who fought in Europe defending this country.and BTW most Italians I know hate mafia sterotypes. Maybe your talikng about teenage kids?

After A long debate in my mind over this election of Addabbo against Como, I have decided that I in my household we are voting for Como. And in 2 years we will vote for the Democrat that runs against Como, as long as it is not Addabbo.

Addabbo single handedly has decided that I am not a productive member of society. Addabbo, who promised not to stand in the way of the Gay marriage bill, took over 4 hundred thousand dollars from as many Gay groups as possible making the same promise, than in one voice killed the long awaited bill.

I am not saying that I actually approve of the wording Gay marriage because I too feel that, even though it is a word, marriage for whatever reason, has been designed for men and woman, as a ritual of love. But I also feel that I deserve and am entitled to the very same rights every straight couple enjoys. Without those rights I am a second class citizen who cannot make decisions with my partner because the law says we are not "married." With that said, Como feels that we also deserve the same rights and has vowed to work towards amending the legislative bill so that it allows Gay and Lesbian people the same rights just maybe a different way of labeling it for license purposes. Addabbo has decided that he is not going to do anything to help me become a first class citizen.

This is not acceptable. I have been faithfully in a partnered relationship longer than Addabbo has been married. I do not run amok in Albany coveting with other woman or men as has been alleged by many sources in Albany, including the district attorney that is investigating many elected officials for misconduct.

It amazes me that these politicians can judge me for my decision of whom I love yet many are getting arrested, under investigation or will be arrested in the near future for crimes they committed while in office, yet I am the bad one.

Although I stand behind my beliefs I am going to hide anonymously behind a fictitious name because I feel that hatred against Gay and Lesbian people are so strong amongst the people that use this site and is rampant throughout my community that I fear for my life, and my family's lives, that if I give my name something will happen to me. It is a shame that I work and pay taxes and cannot live in peace in my own community. And to those that are going to tell me to move, we are, as soon as I retire we will move out of this neighborhood to a place where we feel safe and comfortable to live. Until than we are exercising our right to vote against every sitting politician and to vote for a long awaited change because no politician should feel that they are in office forever.

Como actually graduated law school?

How? By paying off the teachers?

Anonymous said...

Say what you want about him, but I'm voting for Como. Adabbo has been in power and is already in trouble with the Aqueduct Racino. Just tired of voting for criminals. I'll give Tony a chance.

Anonymous said...

What's with the single door in a double door frame? It's a sign that Como is downsizing.

Anonymous said...

A couple of points- you don't have to be a genius to graduate from law school. However, with that said, he did pass the ny bar exam. You can't say the same for his Hofstra alumnus, our current governor, who failed the bar a few times and never took it again!
Como has a wonderful resume, and actually exudes some of that charisma to carry himself through the day. Unfortunately, his weakness is definitely his inability to grasp the issues and articulate them in a clear, concise manner. You can see it in his debates against Addabbo and others. He speaks disjointedly which conveys to the audience that he lacks real knowledge about issues. He may have enough resources (read: machine backing)to win an election, but the chinks in his armor start to appear after he wins. This is what ensued after he won the council race in 2008. People in his district and in city hall looked at him and thought he was a joke because his work ethic was comparable to that of a NYC civil servant. Which is probably why many in his party think he is truly inept. Who knows? Maybe he might eventually improve his game and become an effective legislator. Or not.

Anonymous said...

Addabbo versus Como? Easy choice. I choose Addabbo,
Report on Aqueduct lays the blame right where it belongs - on a deal between Client Number 9 and Joe Bruno that led to a law SPONSORED by BRUNO and MALTESE voted for and passed by the then REPUBLICAN MAJORITY. That law passed to benefit the Republican felon Bruno set the stage for the Sampson, Smith, Adams lets grab it all for ourselves frenzy. How wise was Como - once Maltese's counsel and surely one of his advisors even after leaving the bloated Maltese payroll to not have stopped this abomination which actually codified the 3 men in a room process that is the scourge of Albany.

Hey Al,

The last time I looked we live in the USA where "freedom of speech" is a right granted under our Constitution. Did you ever read our Constitution or do you believe everything you see on Fox News?

The double-door frame is actually part of a drawbridge mechanism. The single smaller door allows for daily ingress and egress without having to employ the lowering mechanism of the larger portal - used mainly for ceremonial purposes.

You really can't blame Joe for coming out against gay marriage from a political standpoint. The district is largely white ethnic conservative and a 'yes' vote would have given Fat Tony an issue to bludgeon Joe with. The state GOP is dumping a lot of money into this race to unseat Joe and I think it'll be close race.

If the Dem's lose the state senate, the GOP will control the 2011 reapportionment and redraw the district lines to their advantage. If that happens, you probably won't see a gay marriage bill get through the senate for years.

Anonymous said...

The Senate was controlled by the Republicans for 40 years or so. The Assembly has been controlled by Democrats for many years. Every bill during all those years that was passed by both houses became law. Every budget that was voted on and passed by both houses that included any tax and fee increases over all those years before 2008 was handed to us by them. Como served as Maltese's counsel for years before his short-lived stint in the City Council. Why did he not counsel and advise his boss to stop voting in favor of budgets that bloated state government and raised taxes and fees on New Yorkers for decades. Over the last 40 years my tax load has gone up steadily. That did not start when the Senate flipped to Dem. I vote Joe. Fat Tony's a hypocrite.

georgetheatheist said...

"Over the last 40 years my tax load has gone up steadily."

Amen, brother. On Monday, I decided to do some hiking in the fall foliage along the Palisades. Just to take a break with Nature.

Using EZ Pass: $4.57 each way on the Triborough Bridge = $9.14 round trip. Toll for both ways on the George Washington Bridge: $8.00.

The "bargain" rate of $17.14 to get out and in of this fucking city. Can you believe this? And it's going up.

Anonymous said...

My idea is simple If your in now your out. In 2 years if you don't like the job they are doing vote that person out. The only way to set Albany straight is to send them a real message. Listen to your voters not the lobbists na dunion heads. The tax payer foots the bill for pensions and projects. Lets send a clear message.

Neversleep said...

Wow. Look at how much better the Board of Elections has run without Anthony Como.

Why don't you at least be honest and say that the real issue about Como and his home is: If he can't stand up to his wife and father-in-law (the real builder) how is he going to stand up to special interests?

Anonymous said...

He can't stand up to anybody. He owes for all the patronage payback he's gotten over the years. He's a parasite. If nothing else, the gay marriage vote proves Addabbo can't be bought. (but I wish he had voted for it)
40 some odd years of Republican control and all the bad didn't get fixed in 2. I'll give the Dems another 2 years at least. The stalemate in Albany this year was the result of the Republican orchestrated coup with their amigos.

Anonymous said...

Dems control Albany and Washington stop blaming the Republicans. It only goes to show that if one party controls everything then everything is out of control. The NYS Legislature is the laughing stock of all the Nation, second to the Federal Government. Corruption runs rampant. Give Como a chance, if he screws up vote him out next election. Joe Addabo is nothing more than a tax and spend Politician who knowns nothing about what it takes to make a private sector dollar in this state. The fees and taxes put upon the middle class and small bussines is obsurd. Just look at any shopping avenue all the vacant stores , thank Albany and the city council for sucking the life out of the economy. They are nothing short of vampires. The only beat to the drums of special interst groups. Wake up NY and vote the incumbents out. Send a clear message we won't take it anymore.

Anonymous said...

For decades the NY State budget was voted on and passed by both houses of the legislature. Unless taxation and spending started on Jan. 1, 2009 - which of course it did not - the Republican controlled Senate is just as complicit as the Democratic controlled Assembly. Anthony Como was an employee of the Senate for years and has profitted from patronage jobs. He is far more of an insider than Addabbo and far less independent. Serf Maltese who was a part of the Albany culture of corruption for decade pulls his strings. There's not an original thought in Como's head. He's just more of the same old same old.
