Part of Queens Blvd named after Manton

From NY1:

Officials held a street renaming ceremony Saturday in Sunnyside to remember the life and public service of former Congressman Thomas J. Manton.

Now we know why they spent all that money to fix up the arch...

Named for a crook!

How about Jesse James Bl'vd. ?

Listen...if they can namne that ugly "auditorium" (under the ramp of "the bunker") at the Queens Botanical Garden for Helen Marshal...anything is possible!

What fitting legacies for our borough.

To know him is to like him

In fairness to Helen Marshall

In all her time of doing nothing she did a lot for the Botanical Gardens.

The only question is what else has she done?

Manton was a corrupt political boss who cared nothing about the people of Queens County. Just look at his buddy, Congressman Joe Crowley. Manton appointed him Congressman as a reward for being an invisible Assemblyman.

Now we're left with the army of no-talent Queens hacks who pose as elected officials
( just look at Joe's cousin Lizzy who is out to destroy her part of Queens ) led by an inarticulate and still invisible Joe Crowley who is nothing more than a disinterested observer in Washington.

No wonder the Queens Democratic "machine" has shunned Anthony Weiner. He actually has talent and works.

Weiner represents mostly Brooklyn like Shumer

I attended the dedication of the Woodside Post Office to Manton. All the pols showed up with their attendant hangers-on. Now, all that's there is a pathethic plaque on the wall by the entrance, which no one looks at.

Manton who?

Perfect. There's a crooked section in the middle of it.

It's obvious to me that the people who said anything negative about Manton had never met him in the almost 30 years that he was representing you. If you thought he was so corrupt why did you keep electing him?

and to respond to the Joe Crowley section

"Just look at his buddy, Congressman Joe Crowley. Manton appointed him Congressman as a reward for being an invisible Assemblyman."

I agree that Crowley is not only an awful person but is also a horrible Congressman, When Manton was still alive Joe Crowley actually showed up to events, and showed that he cared, because he played the game well. Manton believed in the good in people...and now that he is gone Crowley has fallen completely short of Thomas Mantons expectations. He didn't even go to the dedication of Queens Blvd.

Maybe you naysayers should actually know the facts before you run your mouth off about how corrupt certain politicians are.

Because we a jealous of all the high rises in LIC we can't afford

Over and over again someone claims they know what they are talking about, then poses a moronic point like this that must have been addressed, oh, 20 times here.

(Note to webmaster: Can't Crappie put in a FAQ so we don't have to deal with stupid questions like this all the time?

Just respond by saying "Numba 36"!)
