Boardwalk without the boards?

Being it's Earth Day and all, replacing the Coney Island Boardwalk with concrete: good thing or bad thing?

Discuss.

Well there goes that song too:

"...under the boardwalk...ya, ya, ya..."!

Aside from the concrete being unbareably hot in the summer, won't it crack after a number of years and need to be repaired?

Who was the genius behind this?

Bad Bad Idea to use concrete. Keep the wooden boardwalks.

And what do you do when the sand accumulates on the concrete. At least with the wood slats the sand falls through.

What a##holes came up with this idea?
