Weiner sneaking up on Bloomberg in polls

From NY1:

According to an exclusive NY1 poll, Mayor Bloomberg beats City Comptroller Bill Thompson by 13 points in a hypothetical matchup, but only wins reelection against Congressman Anthony Weiner by seven points.

It's a sign the mayor will have to wage an aggressive campaign.

Weiner beats the mayor among young voters, those making between $30,000 and $50,000 a year, black voters and essentially ties the mayor among latinos -- a group Mayor Bloomberg has been targeting for years.

Cant stand either of them, but if Bloomturd is inevitable, I hope he has to spend another $50 mil to buy a reputation. When the historical record is written, this man will be known as emblematic of the corporate-greedmeister-turned-pol we all know he is.

Weiner is tightening his percentages and has a good shot to beat the Mayor. But Weiner has issues such as having little substance or issues related progress that I doubt he is of any worth other than to beat Bloomberg. We need someone else - someone whom is non-Manhattan centric and issues oriented - Avella?

You don't have any use for the Commissar? Vote for Weiner to get more of the same.

He's a spender. He has solved no problems. He's just another unimaginative dullard, like the present Commissar. And, he advocates all the same control freak actions as the Commissar.

We deserve what we get, but, isn't it time we hired a mayor who understood the job is to manage and control the city agencies? Or, are we again going to hire a freak who sees the job as managing and controlling the citizens?

Weiner is the best and most realistic option for Queens. Avella (although a good and decent man) does not have the money, popularity or political clout to come even close to winning.
At best he would split the outer borough white vote thus guaranteeing a Bloomberg win.
Bloomberg has stolen our vote by giving himself another term.
Dont let a wealth guy whom considers himself a king rule us as if we were his subjects.

Yeah, you never know. Many said Obama had no chance. The one great thing about Avella is that he has a big mouth and he can make a lot of noise pointing out all the corruption.

Weiner is Schmuck Schumer Jr and is not to be trusted

Avella is a better choice

Avella's the man!

Although Avella is a great alternative, by voting for him you are voting for Thompson.
Avella and Weiner will wind up splitting the outer bouough white vote thus Thompson will win.
If Thompson wins the Democratic nomination many voters (especially the same white outer borough voters) will vote for Bloomberg rather then vote for another black mayor after the disaster that was David Dinkins.

You mean the same outer borough voters that voted for Obama will vote against Thompson because he's black?

If it comes down to Bloomberg vs. Thompson, my vote goes to Thompson hands down. Queens voted overwhelmingly for Obama. They voted once for a black guy, they'll do it again. And lots of young people don't even remember the Dinkins years.

I didn't take the NY1 pole so add another percentage point for Weiner cause Mayor Love The Rich screw the working class has to go

All politics are local.
Many who voted for Obama will not vote for Thompson - they are not the same.
Regardless, even if Thompson gets over half the white vote of the outer bouroughs he will get much less in Manhattan and almost none in Staten Island.

Yeah, so what? Whites are a minority in the City now.

If Thompson and Bloomberg ran against one another Thompson would get around half of Queens, two thirds in Brooklyn and almost all of the Bronx but only around a quarter of Manhattan and nothing in Staten Island.

If Weiner and Bloomberg ran against one another Weiner would get nearly all of Queens and the vast majority of Brooklyn and the Bronx and at the very least a third of Manhattan. (Nothing in Staten Island)
Sounds like a win to me.
