Frank Lloyd Crap endorses Como

Anthony Como weathered a spate of criticism after he chickened out of a debate and shamelessly promoted himself on his boss' car at the Maspeth Memorial Day Parade. But he picked up a key endorsement when Frank Lloyd Crap threw his support behind him yesterday. Here they are at the press conference...

Anthony Como: "This is a photo of the house I am building in Middle Village. Anyone who thinks it is ugly is just jealous. It took me 10 years serving as a lackey for the DA and the Senator to be able to afford the Casa de Como."

Frank Lloyd Crap: "It is my pleasure to endorse Anthony Como, a man who is taking Middle Village architecture to the next level. He will make sure the rest of Council District 30 looks as impressive as the corner of 82nd Place and 64th Road. I was proud to design this masterpiece and I look forward to bringing similar homes to a block near you. I have donated heavily to Mr. Como's campaign to make sure that becomes a reality in the near future. Some may call this a conflict of interest, we call it standard operating procedure. Please vote for Como on June 3rd!"

Como and Crowley were smart to avoid a ambush at the JPCA "debate". Its pretty obvious that the JPCA has alreay selected a candidate and would not treat the other candidates fairly.

Anyone who has read the articles and blogs linked to JPCA knows full well that the JPCA is neither fair nor un biased, which is why they have maintained their pariah status within the city of NY..

The questions were listed here for all to read. Please tell me which questions you think were unfair to ask.

All's fair in love, war and political campaigns.

CHRISTINA HOW MANY ARBY BURGERS CAN YOU EAT IN 1 MINUTE? HOLDEN WHY DID YOU NOT LET DOB LOOK IN YOUR BASEMENT? HOW DID OGNIBEBE PAY FOR HIS TRIP WITH YOU TO ST MARTIN? WHERE ARE THE FINANCIAL RECORDS FOR JPCA AND YOUR BASBALL TEAM?

Oh boy, Dennis has access to a keyboard.

It does seem biased to have a question regarding Como's house and Crowley's campaign finance violations, but not to have a question regarding Ognibene's past dealings with a corrupt building inspector.

Como's house was not asked. Ognibene brought it up. Como was to be asked why he didn't appear at any JPCA events but boasts he is an active member. Crowley was to be asked why she should be trusted with the city budget when she can't handle her own budget. Ognibene was asked about his defense of Gallagher, which is a lot more recent then his shady building consultant relationship from 7 years ago. If one of the other candidates wanted to bring up Ognibene's scandal, they would have had the opportunity to do so, just as Ognibene brought up Como's house. They also could have at the NY1 debate but chose not to.

Elizabeth Crowley and Anthony Como are now saying that they had appts with Sanchez scheduled before the JPCA debate. Which is interesting because our debate was scheduled weeks ahead of time and Sanchez called the candidates that day and told them to come to his office at 7pm. It's also interesting that if their claims were true, that they both only realized the conflict hours before the debate.

Christina, the JPCA had a prepared question at the debate regarding Como's house. It wasn't asked because Ognibene brought it up on his own and then talked over Mr. Kampermann who tried to interrupt Obnibene and ask the prepared question. Why do you insist on denying this? The issue isn't that the JPCA had a question prepared about Como's house (although I think it is a silly issue to raise), but that it did not have a question about a matter that raises the biggest ethical questions about Ognibene.

As I explained previously, the Como house question was not going to be asked. It was a reserve question if we had time for it, and that means if we didn't get many questions from the audience, which we certainly did. If the other 2 candidates had shown up, we never would have gotten to it. We did also receive it as a question from the audience, so someone else other than us wanted to ask it. Regardless, I fail to see what the problem is in asking a candidate who claims to be against overdevelopment to explain why he feels building a McMansion is acceptable. Como apparently was prepared for this question at other debates, so this is obviously not the reason he stayed away. Thanks again, Mike.

The JPCA prepared one question for each candidate. Ognibene's was about his relationship with Gallagher, who had just been involved in his own scandal and forced to resign. NY1 asked a similar question of Ognibene. It was their debate. Everyone loves to tell them how they should conduct their business, but they are a private organization made up of members. If you are a member and unhappy with how they conducted the forum, then contact them directly. Time to move on.

For the record, even though I disagree with Christina on the JPCA issue, I wholeheartedly agree with her that Como and Crowley are very poor candidates and do not have the skills or experience for the office. It is ludicrous that they received the party nominations over Ober and Ognibene, either of which would be a much more effective and respectable representative in the council.

Como thinks his house is great and has already defended it publicly, so I don't understand the issue about whether or not he is asked a question about it.

Please everyone, let's focus on the issue in this post. The house that I designed. What do you think of it? I am hoping by using this house as an example, I'll drum up more business in Middle Village.

Oh, its a masterpiece, Frank. What will you call it? Fallingcrap? The Crapenheim? Grasso Merda?

Lets stop making fun of Anthony. After all, he supports the volunteer ambulence corpse.

I was thinking Crappocomo.

Who prevented the skeptics here from asking Crowley, Como, Ognibene or Ober any question they wish? About any topic?

Never heard of the phone? Email? US Mail? Confronting each in person?

Once you get a response, submit the question and answer here.

If you don't like someone else's work, do it yourself! Grow up and quit complaining.

A big fat house well suits an obese
mouth breather right out of the "Sopranos".
(How did central casting miss out on "fat" Tony)?

This is really a Gaudy/Guinea wannabe don's classic casa.

When they do a mob tour of Malba, perhaps the bus can swing over to western Queens and amaze the tourists with this primo "palzazzo stu cazzo"!

Sorry Antonio,
you're anything but Italian !

The question prepared for OGnibene was designed to give him an oppurtnity to distance himself from Gallagher (which he did)

Whay wasn't the question aimed at how he conducted himself as City Councilman and his ties to developerds and accusations that Gallagher was his bag man?

I'm curious to see how Ognibene was let off the hook, while they took dead aim at Crowley and Como.

But of course the JPCA isn't biased, partisan or have an agenda...

No Cristina the issue was how come you brought up the scandals of the other candidates, but not Ognibene's????

The question was asked to enable OGnibene to back peddle away from hos realtionship with Gallagher. That's how it was designed, plain and simple.

Knowing this, Como and Crowley backed out. I think they should not have backed out, which was wrong. Once you accept you go.What they should have done is accept the invitation in the first place...

By the way, I think that the person who made those comments about Christina Wilkinson should be blocked from theis site.

I totally disagree with Ms. Wilkinson and the JPCA on many many issues, but I don't agree with insulting them.

If someone ionsults you, by all means feel free to return fire, but Ms. Wilkinson has been pretty good in responding (with the exception of referring to me as a "Chicken") :)

The backup question for Como was about his house.
The backup question for Crowley was about McLaughlin.
The backup question for Ognibene was about Lattanzio.
The backup question for Ober was about gay marriage.

As I said multiple times, if all the candidates had shown up we would not have gotten to the backup questions. In fact, we didn't get to them even without their presence, because we got more questions from the audience than we anticipated.

If you still think these are unfair questions, then there's nothing I will say to change your mind. Most voters want all the cards laid out on the table in front of them before they make a choice.

Thank you.
