Queens dominated the list of New York’s biggest projects in March.
The borough took six of the top 10 spots on the list, three of which were part of a large new mixed-use complex replacing a derelict shopping center in Far Rockaway. The others were located in Springfield Gardens, Astoria and Forest Hills.

Replacing the derelict center is not a bad thing. This is the future, either you bought in ages ago and will enjoy the privilege of remaining you are, or you complain; that's all. This is the really rich types privatized 71st and built their mansions in an essentially walled-off enclave. Good for them -- the rest of the area shouldn't complain, Cord Meyer started to build up the RegoPark-FH corridor along the boulevard nearly 5 decades ago; so the nabe knew what it was getting.
