Enough reasons to nix the BQX

From AM-NY:

Streetcars, America’s transit de jour, have proven difficult operations in other cities like Atlanta and Washington, D.C. Beyond the latent ire of community boards in New York, there are major hurdles revolving around nearly every aspect of the project, including how the streetcar will interact with vehicles; the use of value capture financing; and its placement in a flood-prone corridor.

Other transit experts believe the city is oversimplifying the scope of the project. De Blasio’s streetcars would carry almost 50,000 riders per day at a speed of about 12 miles per hour, according to city estimates. When you weigh costs and capacity against the Second Avenue subway, the BQX doesn’t add up, said Jon Orcutt, a spokesman for TransitCenter.

The streetcar was first proposed by the Friends of the BQX, a support group with several large development firms on its executive committee and board of directors. De Blasio has had to vehemently fight the perception that the streetcar isn’t a handout to developers in an area that is not quite the “transit desert” that he describes.

A trip on the BQX would cost the going rate of a MetroCard, but it’s still unclear if the BQX will be integrated with the MTA’s fare payment system.

How is this still being considered with the investigations involving newly enriched neoliberal lobbyists, their predatory developer clients, and Mayor De Faustio and his deplorable administration for the obvious motivation behind this atrocity and boondoggle.

Really, get the fuck out of here with this. Besides, these billions should be reallocated to building 100 % affordable housing, since the 90 shelter program looks to be at a standstill (way to go, residents of Crown Heights, taking a cue from the Maspeth resistance)

An entire dept. would need to be created to maintain the streetcar power grid, track maintenance, trash cleaning, etc. This won't come cheap. Don't forget the $2.5 billion price tag does not include the building of two bridges -- one crossing Newtown Creek and the other crossing the Gowanus.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

WHY are they reinventing the wheel? And in a flood zone?! Just add more buses. It's not rocket science.

Throughout the world its been proven all rail CAN NOT work at grade level with cars and people. It must be elevated, Japan has known this for 50 years. The mayor and the people for this are the biggest a jack asses on the planet !

Cause buses aren't hip shit cool. They are not "progressive" enough for our Mayor and the tards who vote for him again

It makes more sense to move the BQX plan over to the west side of Manhattan. With the new Hudson Yards neighborhood springing up there will soon be tens of thousands of people more moving to that area. The 7 line extension doesn't fully address the transportation needs of the residents in that area. It should run from 42nd street all the way down to 14th street.

DiBlasio administration --- free Pre-K / ferries that will cost just $2.75 / street car that will take forever to build (and we know it will cost more than $2.5 billion) - taking care of all the NY City and out-of-state homeless and last, but not least - this crook's legal bills. Where's the money coming from?

Just establish a bus route from LIC to Brooklyn. The MTA already has the buses. Create a bus lane and implement the route for a year. There's no need for the BXQ. Taxpayers won't need to spend billions and the bus route is run by the MTA. So simple, yet the mayor doesn't understand it.

This project belongs in Manhattan.

I'm just going to echo JQ and say, "Get the fuck out of here with this." This has got to be one of THE worst ideas ever. More like $25B to build, and it will make The Boulevard of Death look like child's play.

Dizzy Lizzy says its shiney and new

Anon No. 8: why establish a new route when the B62 and B32 already do what you're suggesting? That's why the BQX is such a stupid idea.

Snow is not at all a problem!

We have "Global Warming", so it will never snow ever again!

The project area, at this time, according to ALGORE, should already be a few feet under water.

I am sure it will happen any day now.

Does anyone know what that white stuff outside my window, falling from the sky is???

If there is motive behind Trump's backstabbing it might be Bharara's pursuit of some of his Russian gangbanger oligarch pals.

Yeah, right. The Russians did it. Get help.

The Russians were expecting Hillary to win, not Trump. Isn't that what your liberal scumbag friends said to everybody in the MSM?
So if this Russia nonsense really needs to be investigated, is should be like Hillary's business where she sold uranium to the Russians.
Trump and the Russians is really a smearjob from teh leftist spooks, but we should all agree to constant surveillance, wiretapping (including a sitting President), spying from the guys who do 3-4 tons of coke in one shot? (Mena, Arkansas, Clinton/Bush/CIA)
Are you for real or just stupid to the bone?

To Yeah right. There is no veritable proof, yet, that they rigged the election, but there is no doubt who is buying these vacant condo palaces in the sky on Billionaire's Row.

And this post and the last one was supposed to go on the Preet firing story.

I don't want to troll, especially since it was a mistaken post, but I am aware of Hillary's dealing with Russian banks and energy companies. It's why she never brought it up at the debates and neither did Trump, he never brought up her connections. And I subscribe to no political affiliation or ideology.

As for democrat deep state interference in Trump's reign so far, he's using that as a red herring to cover his malfeasance and business dealings. He has the power to declassify these leaks you know, as well as his tax returns.

Trump is not your friend people. If anything he is betraying this city and country.

And if you think Trump is a 4th amendment absolutist, you should see what he's doing with Palantir.

And the Democrats are not? We don't see much fascism on the right, but we see it every time a Democrat speaks or allocates our money for their agenda.

I am an American Citizen, not a holder of a Democratic Party card. And as Nazis, Communists, and Fascists alike were defeated and purged, so now the Democratic Party is facing the music.

No one is a fan of an enema. That's all that Trump is, our own Ex-lax for our era.

@JQ LLC

You are a mentally disturbed globalist liberal shill. Get help soon.
Preet will be replaced with a more qualified attornet. After all DeBlasio is still standing and so is Coumo.
They need to go away for a long time.

JQ LLC said...

You know Preet had other cases he was working on. And now they are going to be squandered. Just because the case against Mayor Big Slow is not moving fast enough doesn't mean there wasn't any progress drawing up charges and indictments. If there wasn't why was 11.6 million dollars allocated for lawyers for the mayor aides and he was begging the state for funds for his own cases (I assume the city gets that money back now that these investigations are now suspended right). Why was the mayor going to major cities trying to solicit money at fundraising events from rich neoliberal assholes last weekend. De Faustio was going down and Trump put the kibosh on it.

last anon, your constructive criticism and misinformed assumptions of me is all the help I need.
