Council candidate calls for investigation of Katz

From the Queens Chronicle:

Queens Borough President Melinda Katz in her State of the Borough address Friday proposed the placement of a soccer and hockey arena at Willets Point, as well as a school, economic recreation center and a parking facility at the 62-acre site.

Katz, in her address, said, “… as we await the outcome of the lawsuit, let’s ponder additional options.”

“We should be unafraid we should think bigger, bolder and more comprehensively,” she later said. “We need to review positioning ourselves for success by thinking creatively about further options that address our changing borough’s needs — a new school, an eco-recreation center, more parking to accommodate simultaneous big events that we have there now, because all those big events that we have now are wreaking havoc on the soccer fields and grass in Flushing Meadows for parking.

“And to help pay for it, let's consider a soccer stadium, let's consider a hockey stadium” she said. “Just imagine if we, the World’s Borough, hosted the World Cup or the Stanley Cup.”

One opponent of the mall project quickly criticized the borough president’s proposal.

"Borough President Katz's push for yet another stadium in Willets Point on property that was essentially stolen from small businesses for the supposed use of creating a new affordable residential community — a plan that she herself negotiated in 2008 as the Land Use Chair on the City Council! — would be almost comical if it weren't so disturbing,” said Paul Graziano, an urban planning consultant, plaintiff in the lawsuit and City Council hopeful.

“Law enforcement officials should look very carefully at possible collusion between the Borough President's office and the developers in question, as this seems to be yet another attempt at grabbing our city's public property in order to further enrich a few very already wealthy individuals at our expense," Graziano, who is running as a primary opponent against Councilman Paul Vallone (D-Bayside) in September, continued.

Bigger bolder and better

These are words, along with vibrancy, to spur or more likely already permitted hyper and out of scale development.

And the Queens Steamer shows how clouded with naked unbridled ambition, ill intent and her duplicitous stance of keeping Flushing Meadows free from wanton corporatism, by suggesting stadiums, faux luxury tower development with meager and shoddy concessions to the working poor and struggling middle class, advertainment theme events and haphazard multi-day concert festivals, to the borough and public parks she proclaims her devotion and love to. Specifically of her ignorance of how the Stanley Cup is competed for, which is in the area teams arenas, being the garden or shitty Barclays, the latter which will never happen. She seems to be confusing it with the super bowl, unless she wants the "world's borough" to have their own hockey franchise.

Mr. Graziano, who I wish the best of luck and deserves to win, is reaching for the sky demanding an investigation into this stupid arrogant woman, because her demented proposal clearly shows how comfortable she is in her position to make such delusional and expensive ventures. These neoliberal elected officials don't care how they come off.

Developers' whore! Tried and true...proven to suck up to anyone who supports her political advancement. She wants to run for mayor someday. The powers of borough presidents need to be curtailed. In Queens it is riddled with the history of corruption.
Donald Manes was the king of corruption. Claire Shulman, his most apt protege, followed in his footsteps. Helen Marshal, not particularly bright , but perfect to nod approval of anything bad for Queens. Now we have alley Katz Melinda, who will accommodate any dollar donor in any way they wish to have her. Yes, she has the political morals of an alley cat.

Good! Scope that tramp!
Investigate her from her sphincter to her tonsils!
The Democratic machine of Queens is one of the most crooked in the country.
She is their queen in our sleepy time borough.
The reason that Queens' politics sucks is the voters are stupid. As long as their flowers bloom, and the crabgrass doesn't cover their front yards, they have their heads up their asses in ignorance. Any amateur can fleece these sheep!

Alas, it is both obscene and sickening how this shameless political (and real life) whore has flagrantly abused all levels of power and authority that were ironically NEVER in her purview to exploit in the first place!

From Day One, Melinda Katz, Queens County's notorious Borough Squatter, gave carte blanche to her equally sleazy, 65-year-old baby of a baby-daddy-in-a-red-beret, Curtis Sliwa, who seemed to LIVE at Borough Hall (and parade about like a Baby-lonian king!), and if that wasn't a serious red flag warning, then We the People had to put up with her screaming children running around the boardroom while borough board meetings were in progress.

But, that isn't the worst of it for this traveling, hopeful, would be chanteuse of Forest Park. Now, since January, 2014, I have called and visited her office (while meeting with Melinda and her baby daddy in person), as well as her former, loopy, mentally lazy and useless attorney, Alisha Velasquez (who recently got promoted to the NYCEPA), and they have completely ignored my complaints of openly practiced corruption, graft and lawlessness that are SO EGREGIOUS, that they devalue honesty itself.

In the end, I am scarred for life by these public service-hustling impostors of great fail (and their total lack of respect for their constituents), as they have dehumanized me, my family and the entire borough of Queens with impunity that is unprecedented, to date! Men have been hanged for LESS!

Further, BOTH dumb Blasio AND Katz urgently need to be impeached forthwith, because they have never stopped betraying public trust from their first day of ALL 300% false, fake and failed service, like nothing else!

That's why I correctly refer to them as: 'CRIMES WITHOUT CRIMINALS' (and they are FAR, FAR from alone)! And, as usual: the public be eternally duped, bilked, scammed and damned (that's why crime and vigilantism is rampant when public fools like these empowered idiots continue to 'Delay, Deny--And, Hope That You Die!' (And, people actually HAVE died, whilst waiting for ANY government help, which is an illusion, not to mention trust--which is for suckers!)

Corruption all the way!
Preet lock them all up. All of them.

A clarion shot fired across the bow! A fine kick-off gesture to your 2017 run, Mr. Graziano! May this be only the beginning of a momentum that brings you to electoral victory!

Why must we surrender all precious still-wild land to developers, stadiums for sports not everyone has any interest in, and other crap projects to pump money into the pockets of politicians like this skank? Humans have a need for quiet, undeveloped areas in which to think, ideate, fantasize, dream, and relax. These unbelievably short sighted totally selfish pieces of excrement want to take those areas away permanently and pave them over for money for themselves. Don't believe a word of their various justifications---those are to soothe away any concerns of those who won't bother to think too much about it. The rest of us, critical thinkers, want DeBlASSio and this skank animal thrown in JAIL for what they've already done to NYC and what they propose to do, all in the name of themselves.

when the illegal immigrant can no longer scam government benefits and are sent back home, who's going to want to go to a soccer stadium?

Graziano has my vote!!!

"Humans have a need for quiet, undeveloped areas in which to think, ideate, fantasize, dream, and relax." Yes they have homes/cabins in The Hamptons or upstate in The Catskills while you the duped Queens residents have Flushing Meadow Park.

Exactly right, last Anonymous. And, once again (and still), it's: PRIVATE SPLENDOR versus PUBLIC SQUALOR——and, the public be eternally duped, bilked, scammed and damned!

In 2017, crime really DOES pay (openly practiced corruption, graft and greed, that is), within the dodgy corridors of power in City Hall, Queens Borough Hall, Albany and beyond! As for crime within the rank and file, well, it's over before it even gets started!

What you are all doing is exactly what you are always doing, and that is dues an excellent job of analysis ... with the conclusion that someone 'should' take care of it - which generally requires the same people on heads whom you just placed the source of the problem.

Now you have someone that is not part of the problem actually DOING something.

You of course, realize, since no one intends to give him any real thought besides your 'good wishes' you must realize he is going to get as far as Tony, another darling of this board that is now listed about dead last in the mayor race.

So once again, we are here: "What are YOU going to be about it to give him some REAL help?"

Hey asshat troll -

Graziano has done a lot over the years to protect our neighborhoods, just like Avella. They both *DID* something with the proposed mall on city parkland next to Citifield (the same developers who Katz is shilling for a stadium): they are plaintiffs in a lawsuit that has stopped it dead in its tracks for four years and counting.

Now Graziano is *DOING* something again. He's the only person to publicly call out BP Katz in the press.

Graziano got almost 20% of the vote in a five-way race in 2013 - and Vallone got 30%. Graziano is running again - and *DOING* something. In fact, he's the only person to challenge Vallone, who is not even liked by his allies on the City Council let alone the voters in northeast Queens. And Graziano has a pretty good chance of taking him down.

It's very easy to throw bullshit out to the interweb while you're sitting in your chair staring at a screen, but this is not an "alternative fact" zone. Queens Crap is where the truth actually gets revealed.

Yo Joe

The point is what is everybody in his district doing to help him? Sitting around in front of a computer saying 'hey he is doing a great job.' That is Bullcrappy/

You personally making statements in his support to the press? Going to community board meetings to voice your disagreement with how the community is being run? Writing letters to the press? Holding meetings with your neighbors?

Or just saying 'heck of job Paul' and then sitting down in front of your pasta salad.

Hey troll - you obviously didn't read or care about what was written before, so I'm just going to say this: when Vallone gets his ass handed to him by Graziano, you'll know exactly how much the people in the district helped Paul G.

As for my pasta salad, I'd rather eat that than your shit sandwich. Douchebag.

Alas, both Avella and Graziano are why the party-machine-failed system has lost all moral authority in the first place (if it ever really possessed it)!

It's long overdue for a new leadership that actually leads by example, not party-machine-failed politics as usual, and the public be damned (again and still)!

As for Avella, doesn't he have enough government pensions already??

As for my friend, JQ (who posted above), please don't insult the Log Lady: At least SHE had a proven skill set that could wipe the floor with Borough Hall's resident, mangy 'Alley Katz who continues to use and pollute Queens County like her OWN personal litter box!
