Once decent newspaper advertises hipster beach that didn't open

This is just sooo pathetic. And so not surprising considering the current ownership of the Times Newsweekly.

Here's something from the Queens Tribune that Schneps & company neglected to mention:

Bill Crowley, SLA spokesman, said they received petitions and the letter from Nolan. He noted that under different circumstances the SLA’s staff would approve the liquor license but since they have opposition, it will have to go before the SLA board.

Crowley said they recently sent the Rockaway Brewery Company a deficiency letter because they have yet to get state approval for doing business as LaPlaya NYC and not sending in photos of the interior of the proposed business.

This is sad but also hilarious considering that the same outfit published a story in the same edition that said the beach wouldn't open until the end of the month at the earliest. The community board also received notification in mid-May that the beach would have to go before SLA at toward the end of June before opening.

Carl Clemens is rolling over in his grave right now...and Maureen Walthers should be mortally ashamed by how she ruined this once great community newspaper.

Vicki is an airhead, what else would she have done with the Times Newsweekly?

This failure of a promotion/event just keeps giving. Everyone involved, which now includes neighborhood weeklies, is just going batshit. Is it safe to assume they posted this announcement because the hipshits will still arrive like their moronic peers did at webster hall expecting a yeezie show.?

Do they still make the pennysaver? Because I believe they were more responsible and diligent in publishing than the REBNY influenced crop of yellow journalism press monkeys working today.

Times Ledger and Chronicle are still pretty good, a different league than schneps stuff.
