Pay to play!

From NY1:

It was one of the first things Bill de Blasio did when he became mayor.

Eight days into his administration, he got a letter from the city's Conflicts of Interest Board, the agency overseeing ethical conduct for local elected officials. It granted the mayor approval to fundraise for his newly established nonprofit group that was pushing his agenda, the Campaign for One New York.

Of course, there was a catch. De Blasio could not solicit donations for that nonprofit from "anyone with a matter pending or about to be pending’" before the city. The letter went on to say quote: “It is the Board’s conclusion that, as applied to the mayor, the 'agency' referred to is the entire executive branch…”

So more than two years later, NY1 examined all of the donations to the Campaign for One New York, which is now the subject of a federal investigation. We found that at least 60 donations came from an entity that had business with the city, or a company that was directly lobbying the city or was a union with a city contract.

Typical liberal media bullshit.

It took the 'reporters' at NY1 2 years to look into this? If it was a Republican Mayor they would have reported on each donation as it happened.

Unethical behavior by a Democrat is business as usual.

Banner day for the NYC media.

I'm by no means a lawyer, but why would the conflicts board give permission to run a fundraising arm or what this really is a superpac or a 501 c 4 to run in city hall in the first place?

And the use of the word pending seem like a convenient loophole to abuse. It may be why Mayor Biyalistock and his minions are relying on semantics to justify their illicit behavior

I hope Shelly Silver keeps a seat warm for DeBlasio, both of these pricks can enjoy their premature retirement.

I hope that De Blasio gets indicted soon.
Preet...go after this dog with a vengeance. Not since Koch has there been a more crooked city government.

The CoIB exists to ensure that politicians transitioning in and out of office keep their private and public business separate.. It's a necessary agency, but doesn't do enough. The CF1NY was not a SuperPAC, as it did not make political contributions. You have to realize that many of these politicians in all fairness are involved in industries or jobs related to the city as part of their buildup to run and win office, and it would be unreasonable to have them completely divest when election day is an all or none outcome. That's where the CoIB steps in. Dumb as these people are, they have lawyers to ensure they don't do anything so nakedly indictable on record. It did however potentially function as a neutral source to steer money, which is the subject of the ongoing federal investigation. It's "honest graft".

This mayor is hiding something even bigger. And don't stop there. Go after his wife too. What's she been up to???

Hey, dont worry people. Those paragons of virtue on city council will undoubtedly look into this led by the redoubtable majority leader Jimmy Van Bramer.

Mayor Fugazio will get, at most, a slap on the wrist.

Was Silver led away or when does his sentence start,I can't find anything

People, instead of acting like a bunch of yahoos with your bloodhounds ("lets see ef tha serrif kin git em niggers") why don't you talk about the real reason this happened?

The fact of the matter is this has been going on in plain sight for years - and no one says anything and acts with a deference to these people that would make Queen Elizabeth blush.

People need to get past these useless labels like liberals or conservatives... They're for people who are incapable of actually thinking.

Word is Silver got some kind of deal to stay out of jail.
Hmmm..Turned states evidence perhaps ?

You are so right! It doesn't matter what the party is or their thinking, if they are doing something illegal or immoral it doesn't matter what your stripe, color, religion, or party affiliation -- IF IT IS ILLEGAL OR IMMORAL IT IS STILL WRONG.

Now tell me: What part of that sentence don't or won't they understand? Silver found that out the hard way. DeBlasio is next.

Shelly should have ample time to review his Bible, in particular Exodus 23:8..."And you shall take no bribe, for the bribe blind the wise, and perverts the words of the righteous.."
