Street tree feeling hollow

Does being able to see through a tree branch sound like "routine" pruning is needed? This is the second time I've reported it - I guess they're waiting for it to snap and hit someone or something.

I live in Flushing and that looks exactly like the tree branch in front of my home.
I have put in three 311 complaints with pictures and have gotten the same lame answer back. Whats' going on with our city services ?

Numbskulls or liars? Either way save that complaint info for a lawsuit.

That tree looks dry as anything! The city doesn't know how to maintain anything! Look my father called the city to complain about the roots of the tree in our front yard clogging up his sewer line but the city told him that was his problem. Then he told the city that he was going to cut down the tree and they told him that he can't do it because the tree was city property! Lol! What a twist this city puts on you...they don't want to maintain anything but yet if it damages something on your property, they are told that they are not responsible! Lol what a city we live in!

They are going to cut down the entire tree. That is how parks dept 'prunes' trees.

There are plenty of trees like this in the Dirty Southeast. Stripped of bark, leaning perilously, blooming late and shedding leaves early. I seen some trees that had thick cable engraved in the bole, I noticed this when con ed sent some contractors to prune the trees, I can only hope they have the brains to report this to the city since they were working on them since trying to register a complaint is clearly futile.

I remember when they started that weak ass million trees program, I thought maybe that they take down and replace these old treacherous trees with new ones, but they just planted them in speculative development areas and midtown Manhattan.

Nothing seems to be working in all city departments lately. Cynically, that's always been the case, but I believe it's alarmingly different now. Well with the exception of city planning, because most of the attention is being placed in making everywhere in the 5 boroughs a tourist or hipshit lifestyle attraction.

But maybe this is another way to scare residents and devalue property. But these are also present in major parks like Forest and Kissena, the latter which killed a woman last summer I believe. Usually after something tragic happens the city suddenly reacts and rectifies the problem, but clearly this didn't even teach anyone at the Parks Dept.

So much for caring for the environment and being green

When is the city going to start spending our money where it's really needed?
TREE PRUNING, STUMP REMOVAL, SIDEWALK REPAIRS, CURB REPAIRS, GRAFFITI REMOVAL, ENFORCEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES.

More taxpayer money wasted, if something happens and one gets injured who is paying for the lawsuit, damages?

Have you ever seen their inspectors? You'll find them buying lottery tickets, drinking a cup of coffee in DD, or shopping at the market. They are rarely spotted in the field.

I called 311 to inform them that the 311 system was broken because reports never get processed properly.
The response was they will investigate and report back in 90 days. Never heard anything.
That was 3 years ago.

What on earth is on the civil service exam?

How to push paperwork and avoid any real work?

What a credit to Democracy.

Who do you think you are? If the city starts doing that, who's going to feed, house, clothe, and provide medical care for all of the illegals??? Sheesh!

There's a tree in the communal driveway that has a crack like that for years. Never fell, not even in the hurricanes and tornadoes.

Why would anyone want a tree in front of their house. When the roots push up the sidewalk the homeowner is responsible for fixing the sidewalk or the city will fine you or the tree dies you have to look at a tree stump for a few years before it is removed and the tree replaced. If the city feels they want to plant a tree they should be responsible for the condition of the sidewalk, it is not the property of the homeowner.

BETTER ANSWER: (1) GO AFTER YOUR ELECTEDS (2) GO AFTER YOUR COMMUNITY BOARD (3) WRITE A LETTER TO THE PRESS (4) PUBLICLY SHARE WITH CRAPPY YOUR INEVITABLE RUN AROUND.

GOVERNMENT EMPLOYESS, this is what we get with government Employees. The parks dept should not have any tree trimmers on the payroll because they don't trim trees, they look for ways to jerk off while on the time clock, that's what most government employees do. The tree trimming should given out to private contractors on a flat rate contracted price. If government did this you would have your tree trimmed so fast your head would spin. Instead we all have to fight feather bedding civil servants that make a career of treating the tax payer like shit.

Open Message to Councilman Vallone:

Please see what you and your staff can do to have the appropriate Agency(s) focus on doing a "real" clean-up of the greenway along the Cross Island Parkway for obvious reasons. The area between the Marina and Northern Blvd. nears attention. It truly is a concern and an embarrassment. There are many trees that are rotten and downed all along the Cross Island Parkway in Bayside. Also, before the mosquitoes set in and the Zika virus reaches New York, the greenway should be cleaned up. The City should put some of the high taxes that we pay to work.

The City in light of recent storms and high winds should be pro-active when it comes to removing dangerous trees

Thank you.

I let parks know about huge tree branches that fell down and are laying in the street, and they couldn't find it despite giving an exact address. I don't know what is going on there but they aren't doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Hey now, thats not part of the progressive mandate for the city that DiBlasio was elected on. We can't waste money on things like that when its needed to pay for illegals and welfare.

Not only do the trees and vegetation need attention but most of the green-way pavement is disintegrating and is a hazard to all users ! The section named after Joe Michaels is a public disgrace !
One Thursday a man riding a illegal motorbike crashed and was found dead with rigor mortis on the greenway.
