Bayside Jewish Center to be bought by Korean services group

From the Queens Chronicle:

Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York Executive Director Linda Lee spoke to the Northwest Bayside Civic Association last Thursday about the group’s plans to purchase the Bayside Jewish Center.

“We have the only Meals on Wheels program that serves Korean food in all of New York City,” Lee said, telling those in attendance about KCS at the meeting, which was held at the Grace Presbyterian Church of New York in Bayside. The agency, which has offices in Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan, mainly provides programs for seniors, and mostly serves the Korean diaspora of New York City.

When Councilman Paul Vallone (D-Bayside) announced last May that the School Construction Authority planned to purchase the Jewish center, the congregation of which has largely dwindled in recent years, the plan was not greeted warmly. Citing the effect that the proposed eight-story school would have on parking, traffic, property value and other worries, many community members were livid. After a fight led by the civic and state Sen. Tony Avella (D-Bayside), the SCA dropped the plans last November.

If KCS buys the building, according to Lee, it will use it from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. And most of the seniors served by the nonprofit, she added, use public transportation.

When a member of the civic asked Lee if KCS plans to build onto the building, the nonprofit executive director said that it was not likely. “In our conversations right now, that’s not on our radar,” she said, while not saying outright that the agency would agree never expand the structure. “I don’t think we would even make plans to do that because we would have to have a good reason for doing that.”

However, Lee said, the building would have to be brought up to compliance and its kitchen would have to be renovated. And because handicapped individuals are served by the nonprofit, other changes would have to be made to the inside of the building to make it easier for them to move through it.

I hope they plan on teaching the English language at this place. There is a great need for the Koreans to learn to speak English.

They fought to prevent a school. Some local civic leaders warned this would happen. Here it is.

How do you say 'Lying Dog" in Korean? The surrounding streets will be blocked by Adult Day Care Center vans in the morning and at night. Not to mention the Access-A-Ride vans.
Take a look at 35th Ave by Harrington and 137 street by 31st road. Traffic jams morning and night.

Why? These people don't want to be integrated in American society.

How is this a "Community Facility" if it only supports Koreans?

Korean churches are money laundering operations.

Most churches including the non-Korean ones are money laundering operations.

That whole area was always low end realty. It will be abused.

Everyone fought against the school. What did they expect?

Don't know where you're getting that from. Look at the specialized high schools and Ivies. They're overrepresented and seem to be doing fine integrating into American society.

If they're integrating into american society so well, why do they want to live in ethnic ghettos?

All churches are not money laundering operations in the same sense as Korean churches. Can you take your cash income, pass it to the church without reporting it, then use it as an oblique financial institution outside the eyes of the IRS? Can you go to a real estate agent and show a 1040 with 20K in income and have them call a banker supporting a $1 million mortgage? Doubtful. We have worked hard to eliminate institution racism, but now we have to sit on the sidelines while others plan by bigoted rules.

That's illegal. They'll just make you feel clearly unwelcome, and resolutely refuse to talk your language.

Just another reason why most natives of the area under 45 years old have left.

Dude dude dude.. you and others who say korean churches are laundering money have NO IDEA how they really launder them. The REAL MONEY laundering IS NOT FROM CHURCHES DODOHEAD.
IT IS FROM REAL ESTATE PURCHASING!!! oh, it's not korean.. it the chinese.

I can bet you 1 million dollars( if you have that much money) that someone with 20K income can still get 500k loan nowadays. There is no income verification mortgage loans out there and yet you think you know what you are talking about. smh. If a property is 900k, I can up bid to 1 million. Then I dump in 500k cash as down payment so I can get the other half as a loan from no income verification mortgage. The cash has to come from bank accounts, but they already know how to put it in there slowly for a while in preparation for this.

Ooh ooh ooh.. forget about the mortgage, I will buy the property 1 million dollar CASH. That way no need for banks or mortgage broker to check ANYTHING including where their money comes from! You have no idea the connections they have to make this happen. It make you look like a sunday school kid. Now that's how they launder it... not from dingy tiny church amounts.. as we are talking about big money here...and church donation/income is so small compare to a property price. Man, get grip.

They only build churches for the tax write offs. Do you really think that any of these home owners pay taxes on the homes they own? They claim it as part of a church and don't pay a dime of taxes on it! I say tax the churches and then you'll see how many of these asian churches are built!
