Interestingly, the DOB's website reveals that they applied for a permit to correct the illegal conversion, yet they apparently didn't complete it and decided to sell it as is.

There's no point in trying to fight these things. Even after the dob steps in, they will just continue what they are doing. The only way they will ever learn is if the dob goes there every couple of months and gives them huge fines and then Jacks up their property taxes. But we all know this will never happen. Just like that other house with 15 bedrooms, they will just claim that they fixed it and the dob will just be satisfied (or paid off) and leave them alone and things will never change unless they have to pay a lot more.
Wouldn't it be funny to go onto the zillow website via the link, click on one of these realtors, go to the top and hit 'add a review' and leave a lousy review based on their destroying the character of the neighborhood?
Do not interpret this as an endorsement of that action!
NYC should institute reward money for people that report these things to the DOB - payable by the homeowners - who should be forced to lose their homes at auction.
The current penalties are not a deterrent. The city needs to up the ante! Illegal conversions - lose your house! Illegal tenants - lose your house! These violations should also trigger INS investigations!
Also the DOB should hire some Chinese inspectors - perhaps some people from San Francisco w/o NYC ties? Although everyone can be bribed.
The realtor needs to have their license revoked and the DOB needs to step in. They are ruining the quality of life for their neighbors. People pay a premium to buy homes in this area for open spaces and decent parking. These idiots are breaking the law and adding to the wear and tear of infrastructure, garbage and lack of parking.
Next time you go to the polls find out what the candidates have done about this situation for us. DON'T VOTE FOR ANYONE UNTIL THEY HAVE A PROVEN RECORD OF FIGHTING ILLEGAL REAL ESTATE.
Michelle Chen goes into a community and markets homes as rentals. After they are sold, she handles the rentals. When she is told about illegal occupancies and SRO's she professes to know nothing about these rules. She needs to be investigated, but how that is done...??
Shocking... I mean I think you could easily fit another 5-10 bedrooms in that space, don't know why they're underselling it!
Look at the Zillow ad for even more fun, last sold 07/29/15 for $527,000... Yea I'm sure they've put in over $400K of improvements! Fake walls for that additional "bedrooms" isn't costing anyone $400K. .
The realtor needs to have their license revoked and the DOB needs to step in.
Yep. That's the right way to fix the problem. Making money on illegal setups/conversions should be punishable by suspending the license and subject to fines.
Who hates prostitutes? They perform a vital service, unlike realtors. And as far as the politicians go - if you don't want to vote for an elected official who supports this then never vote for an incumbent - that was easy!

Not really. Did you vote for the current mayor? Doubt it. So there you have it. Politicians are on the top of the list.
1. Politicians 2. Lawyers 3. Used car salesman 4. Realtors.

THEN I GUESS WE HAVE TO MAKE THIS A SPORT GOING AFTER OUR COUNCILMAN AND MAKE HIM THE BUTT OF A LOT OF JOKES IN PUBLIC ABOUT THIS WHEN THEY ARE WITHIN HEARING DISTANCE AND EVERYONE LAUGHS AT THEIR EXPENSE. BELIEVE ME, THE PROBLEM WILL NOT BE LONG.
PEOPLE!! Do what we just did with that one at 33-07 153 ST this week! Gat a group of as MANY people as humanly possible!! ALL of those people call 311 at the same time. You can even gather people that live far away out of the area! Those people can call 212-NEW-YORK! Like we did with that other 1 I mentioned worked! Tell 311 you have this ad...then send it to them BEFORE whom ever is advertising is aware that it is being reported & removes this piece of important EVIDENCE!! Blowing it up in social media helps...but if the wrong person sees it...they will let them know & ad is removed or changed before they are CAUGHT! You can fight city hall if you do it in numbers! FORGET complaining to your local officials! AS you have seen in the past NOTHING is ever done by them! Quite possibly because those very people you COMPLAIN to are PAID off to help cover it up!! CORRUPTION at its finest!!! REPORT all these places as a group!! Call 311 at the same time!! Flood them with calls all at the SAME exact time & day!! That will catch their attention fast!! It worked once it CAN work again.
According to what at least Zillow shows right now this home is off the market! They must have removed it from being listed actively. But description is still same. Last sold in July Current owner shows up as the BAYSIDE DEVELOPMENT GROUP http://www.zillow.com/homes/3521-215-st-flushing-ny_rb/
This shows their billing address for TAX purposes. http://nycprop.nyc.gov/nycproperty/statements/asr/jsp/stmtassessasr.jsp?statementId=239867954

BAD ADVICE - THIS PERSON WORKS FOR A POLITICIAN WHO IS GETTING PAID OFF. CALLING 311 IS THE FIRST STEP ONLY BECAUSE THEY WILL USE IT AS AN EXCUSE TO DO NOTHING IF YOU DON'T.
GO AFTER YOUR POL - WRITE LETTERS TO THE PAPER ABOUT THEM BEING BUMS.
THEN SHARE IT WITH CRAPPY THAT THE POL IS IGNORING YOU AS WELL AS HIS CONTROLLED PRESS.
5624 213th St, Bayside Hills, NY 11364 6 beds 3 baths 3,200 sqft # Kitchens: 2
From my understanding it's impossible to have 3,200 sqft of finished space in a 4000sq ft R2A zoned lot. There appears to be also a garage in the first floor. I can't see where they would fit 6 bedrooms and 2 kitchens.
There's a handicap ramp. Not sure if I want to see some old dude being pushing out in a wheelchair into the homeless shelter. Other than that let's evict the 2nd floor and 3 floor.
Anonymous #4, I totally agree with you, we all do. There should be tremendous penalties for this, but we forget they have DeBlahBlah's blessing on this since he wants to house the planet right here in the five boroughs, and this is the only way.
Another way to approach this is to go after the slimy realtors that make this possible. They are licensed not by NYC but by NYS. Visit http://www.dos.ny.gov/licensing/complaint.html and file a complaint on each one. As they lose their licenses it will be harder and harder for these landlords to operate under the radar

I despise real estate agents. They are worse than used car salesmen!

Listing Agent: Chen.
Well, no shock there.

You most likely missed the disclaimer regarding minor typographical errors.
This is merely an overlooked misprint.
Nothing to see here...

Getting crowded up there on the top.

Generally you are right. Except the poster mentioned his wife somewhere in there which makes the whole situation different:)

THE DOB needs to see that this is being marketed as is!! Then they will bring the city MARSHAL's in & shut it down!!! Report it...with this ad!!

REYFMAN, VIKTORIA we don't want your kind in Bayside. Go back to the white slums.
.
.
How a house like that could go for a million is nuts.

So where are the politicians? Start with Honest Joe Crowley and ask him why is this ok for your kids but not his.
Then ask him what gives him the authority to think he knows who should be running for office if this is what his machine does to your community.

First Floor Collects $2000/Month, 2nd Floor Collects $2300/Month, 3rd Floor Collects $1500/Month
Also not sure if I see a third floor in the picture.
