Another house to church conversion in Bayside

"Last night my mother & I were walking through the neighborhood and walked by a house that has been under construction for quite sometime now. We were stunned to find out that they were not building a new home but rather a Korean church! As if Bayside needs another Korean church! The property is located on the corner of 208th Street and Horace Harding Expressway."

Talk to your Councilman and demand a change in the legislation. All these "residential" churches are taking away the quality of life in what used to be the quiet streets of Bayside. Now you can't even park a car. Nothing is going to change until the people get pissed off and start demanding action from their elected officials.

THIS NEEDS TO STOP. BUT UNFORTUNATELY A LONGTIME HOMEOWNER'S LOSS IS A POLITICIAN'S GAIN. WHERE IS STAVITSKY AND LANCMAN AND KATZ? HAVE THEY ALREADY DEPOSITED THEIR CHECKS FROM THEIR KOREAN FRIENDS? I THOUGHT KATZ SAID QUEENS WAS THE BORO FOR FAMILIES....SHE DIDNT SAY THE BORO FIR KOREAN CHURCHES.

Most asians aren't even religious! All they talk about in these asian churches is how to make money and how to buy real estate. Come on now, they don't even name their "churches" after saints! They name them after words or people. Whoever really thinks that they are teaching the word of God in these churches must be dumber than a brick!

I don't live in the area, but that thing is gruesome.

Absolutely correct. 10 minutes about God, the rest of the time back doors, loopholes, real estate, business opportunities.

The whole thing is a sham and they are exploiting the non profit loophole.
Make them be around for 50 years before non profit qualification.
Tax the land, tax the "church", tax the donations.
You'll see how they will fold.
Stupid Americans they say about us.
Well we are not stupid, the problem is the corrupt politicians that we seem to have in abundance.

Some puzzling numbers on the application! Question 12: In R2A only 30% lot coverage is allowed; this claims 40% coverage. Also claims a perimeter wall height of 7 feet?? And what about the claim that it is only one-story but the height is 31 feet? (Question 13)

Now look at the Zoning Diagram .... there is no 30 foot rear yard

What is the depth of the front yard? (it says, "Front Yard as per ZR 24-34") It certainly appears to have no front yard at all along the Horace Harding Expressway.

In a few years, everyone will be a "church". Tax free. No questions asked by the IRS. It's coming, and those of us who are not a "church" will pay higher and higher taxes. The writing is on the wall.
I think all you need to do is:
1. Pay some internet site for a certificate that says you are an ordained minister in the church of god.
2. Incorporate yourself as a non-profit.
3. Hold "regular" religious services.
4. Pay zero taxes.
5. Build some big ass crap tax-free "church" to live in.

Again, do all the things you should and leave a paper trail of your contacts and their response. Share with Crappie.

Name names of those in political office and during election hound the hell out of them (that is firmly raise the issue) publically about this.

Interesting: under the 2004 Zoning Amendment, passed because communities were sick and tired of "community facilities (healthcare & "houses of worship") they're required to have 1 parking space for every 10 persons; per the application NO parking spaces are indicated; however they indicate a total of 134 persons using the space.

I don't see any way they can meet the parking requirement on this site; I don't see any hearing before the rubber-stamp BSA granting an exemption. Get the permits yanked!

What does this mean? An increase in taxes for the rest of us. Happy Festivus! God help us.

As far as I'm concerned this type of activity is right up there with gambling, prostitution, drugs.

Tax avoidance, taking advantage of the system.

A crackdown is long overdue.

Unfortunately, Community Facilities have different rules than residential houses do in terms of lot coverage, setbacks and the like. It is something that I've been pushing to eliminate for over a decade.

The parking requirements are pegged to the largest room, which is usually public assembly. That room holds 82 people (on the first floor).

The problem is that if you need less than 10 parking spaces, onsite parking is waived. 82<100 people, in terms of occupancy; 8<10 parking spaces.

It's extremely unfortunate that the law was written this way, but from what I remember, the Zoning Amendment wouldn't pass at the City Council if it targeted smaller houses of worship.

Can this be addressed. Rather than complaining on this board I want to know how to prevent this or stop this and future new churches. It's excessive.

IRS maybe. Needs investigation. But don't bet on it.
In the current climate people without background checks waltz right into our country.
Imagine an investigation into the poor divers communities' religious practices.

The IRS/Government going after an entity that is both (a) a religious group and (b) a minority group... yeah, good luck with that one!!!

Things are about to change - we always said that once the immigrants start to make more damage than they can be exploited by Democrats and Republicans the door will slam shut just as it did 100 years ago with the Anarchists and their bombs.

Something is going to happen. And again. And again.

Its a shame. 99.999% of the immigrants are great people that embrace a lot of aspects of America most Americans don't and at least the Muslim women don't dress like sluts as most others do (to their credit) so we can learn some things from them.

Current IRS only investigates in they think you might be right wing.

99.999%?

Are u sure?
From what I have seen we have been allowing the worst of the worst.
Head of both DHS and FBI admitting that we don't know who these people are.

One thing is sure: the immigration laws are watered down big time.
H2B visas to take jobs away, all kinds of crazies with bombs and weapons, think 9/11, think San Bernadino - these are not old fashioned immigrants who came here and tried to be good Americans, learning the way, the language and the culture while adding their own real values to the mix, to the melting pot.

Look at what Trump is saying and look at the media, politician reaction.
Speaks volumes.

PS. No I'm not a Trump fan, but a spade is a spade.

IRS will not investigate. Orders come from above and we all know what that means.
Elections seem to be rigged at times, especially with the computerized part of it.
Stalin said once, it doesn't matter how they vote, who counts the votes matters or something to that effect.

Not really, but as with most problems in this country, your cna blame the politicians. They coddle the new comers as they try to angle to take advantage of that situation, and it does not take long for someone to know that, if they are being catered and coddled, they can pretty much get away with murder. And the immigrants do.

Another Tax scam played skillfully by the Asian community.

Good to see that snooty Bayside is now getting it up the ass like Flushing has. When Flushing asked Bayside to stand by and support Flushing's issues, like good neighbors should, they declined. Now you Naysiders who believed this would never happen in their neck of the woods can wake up to their new reality. It has begun and will increase. Good luck snot noses!
