DAs want more money

From the Daily News:

The city’s district attorneys are looking for a fat raise.

The five DAs penned a letter asking that their pay be hiked to $250,000 a year — up from the $190,000 they make now, a 32% bump.

The prosecutors made the plea in a letter to the commission formed by City Hall to consider pay raises for elected officials, playing up their high-level duties.

"We are responsible for the prosecution of the most serious and violent criminal offenses including murders, rapes, robberies, gang violence, child abuse and domestic violence. We conduct long term investigations into sophisticated white-collar crimes, official misconduct and corruption, gun and drug trafficking and other offenses," they wrote to the Quadrennial Advisory Commission.

They went on to complain that their six-figure salaries pale in comparison to those of senior partners at private law firms, who earn millions.

If they want to be senior partners at private law firms, they should quit their DA job and go. Stop whining. How does a 32% raise compare to a 1% raise proposed for police?

Don't like the salary? Then don't run for the fucking job.

Guess its logistical support for Brown to pay for boxes for him.to stand on.

Go back to the private sector....

Major crimes like rape and shootings are up and these bitches want a raise commensurate with private law firms?

It makes one wonder if the people who run for these city and state offices are not good enough to be partners in big law firms, which all they are good at is defending big ass banks.

They knew the salary when they ran for the job.

Skip the raise. If they find it isn't enough, move on!

Almost as bad as the politicians who cannot hold a job in the real world.

They get a government job with all the benefits and complain about the pay...

That Liberal-Democrat sense of entitlement rears its ugly head, again.

Guys, you gotta read the whole article sometimes. There's actually a legit point of contention in this:

They said the retroactive hike is justified because city code says the pay raise commission should be appointed every four years, but one wasn’t named in 2011. The last raises came in 2007.

As Bloomberg left every public union with an expired contract, this does not surprise me. It's pretty arrogant of them to name an amount and demand it retroactively, but they are right to hold the mayor's feet to the fire in putting together that commission, which should be impartial, and short-lived to do its job. As the top lawyers of the city though, it's also pretty pathetic that they couldn't just file suit to get this done.

Hey, short stuff, stop complaining!
Your salary is ten times as big as your physical stature.

The DA is probably the only elected official that does not get offered bribes, no wonder he needs a 32% raise.

They won't go because then they might actually have to work...

That's more than the President's salary!

Reminds me of the politician who said it was the low salary that made him steal!

Go find a job in the private sector!

And a 32% raise? Give me a break! No one gets that.

Anon whatever

The POTUS makes $400,000 per year.

The POTUS made $200,000 up until 2001

Plus $50,000 non-taxable expense allowance to assist in defraying expenses relating to or resulting from the discharge of his official duties.

I am not saying these people are deserving, only stating some facts...

This guy will get in, then retire, and have his successor appointed by Honest Joe Crowley

Of course they deserve the raise...haven't we had rampant inflation for the past few years?

Anonymous said...

Give them a raise, but with the stipulation that it only takes effect when they leave office so that only their successors get the new salary.

Some public servant!
Go into the private sector if your salary is not enough.
Ah loose some power, not a good option huh?
Want power and money both taxpayer subsidized.
Talk about tweeding.

Brown's short! Ha ha.

Grow up already.

He's a lot taller than you in every way but literal and does a tough job very well. A lot better than the so-called lawmakers in queens.

That's a big raise request, though.
